Only medicore AMA's get beaten by the computer scoring. Every those close computer scores normally come down to the body shots not being counted (therefore a more Pro style). Get a head guard on ffs its a bit of leather and foam and is there for a reason, to ease you gentely into the game.

It does just sound like excuses to a point, unless they guy sufers from some sort of closraphobia, but in that case wuill he not panic when he gets pinned in a corner and pummeled?

Try sparring without a head guard, I'm sure you can find a gym that will allow this (well turn a blind eye).

If you wont spar don't expect any manager to take you one, and if you want your sparring partner to not wear HG as you don't, just expect them to LOL at you, it is there for a reason.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I've always thought of unlicensed as 'big man' boxing. That is, guys who want to smash another part-timer up for the misguided respect of their peers.

Because if you don't train seriously, an amateur will coast to a win against you, and a pro could very well hurt you.

Ash: you need to man up about the scoring; poor decisions happen in all forms of contact sport. Get some amateur fights on, then you'll know for sure if you can make your reach count or not. Physical advantages mean sod all if you stand like a rabbit in the headlights. I wouldn't recommend boxing without the headguard until you have a little experience.
