what shit!!!
When you get sparked out convincingly you are saying its okay to say you are still the better man?

Re: Enzo Mac has no class
Gurov is as tall as Wlad, I believe. Unless there's about half an inch in it. Gurov was world class, was beating Mormeck until he got ground down. Wlad losing to Brewster was much worse than that.
I want to see his fight vs Cantatore, to see if he was jobbed away from home.

Re: Enzo Mac has no class
Yes because he needs to keep a positive mindset if he is to come back (if he is to come back to that level again). No one else believes it, even his cheerleaders at Setanta showed us the final stages of the fight again to remind us all who is the better man. He is trying to take positives.fatboy2008 wrote:what shit!!!

To be honest I don't believe he will fight at world class again and they were only there in the first place as they felt Haye was dead at the weight.

Re: Enzo Mac has no class
I was one who believed Enzo could win the stamina battle against David Haye. David knew his best chance was to finish the fight quickly and early finishes were something he was very used to doing and is good at. He loaded up with big bombs from the start and gave Enzo no chance of getting into the fight. The only time that plan didnt work for Haye was against the super tough Thompson who weathered the storm and beat Haye, as Haye faded. Enzo will return a better fighter from that defeat but I think he has a lot more to prove now. Before the fight with Haye most thought it was a pretty even matchup but that wasnt the case at all. Enzo had no answer to Hayes onslaught. Now Enzo must fight the best and show he can beat them to regain his world status, and a belt to prove he is worthy of being a champion again. Enzo has to believe in himself to do that hence the talk, even if it isnt realistic regarding Haye. Banks would be a perfect fight for Enzo but I doubt he will get the chance.

Re: Enzo Mac has no class
Enzo Calzaghe needs to get real & start being a bit gracious in defeat. After seeing the way he never gave Haye an ounce of credit or praise for beating his fighter, Enzo Calzaghe is a sore loser, plain & simple!
Haye sparked his guy, big time! Maccarinelli was outclassed, out-landed, out-fought, etc. Then, for Enzo Calzaghe to try to pour scorn on Haye's win, try to diminish Haye being the better man on the night was shocking. For me, it showed Enzo lacks class. Look, no one likes to lose, but other people obviously are more honest than others when admitting they were beaten.
I remember Enzo Calzaghe coming out with some BS comment how if the fight had gone twelve rounds, the putcome would have been different. HELLO! Earth to Enzo Calzaghe, your man got sparked in the second round, fight over, fight finished. Why go twelve when you can get the job done in two?
In reply to such a ludicrous comment, Haye said something along the lines of: Well, that's like saying if Peter McNeeley went twelve rounds with Tyson, he would have won!![[icon_e_biggrin.gif] :D](./images/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif)

Re: Enzo Mac has no class
I think Macca has to hype himself to sell himself to the public and for his own self belief.
Self belief is crucial for a fighter, delusional or not
Macca is a good guy and has plenty of class.
I was pleased to see he got straight back in the gym and that his desire is still high. Hopefully the Haye defeat has not shattered his confidene.
Enzo is def still better than most out there, he has nothing to fear from the likes of Banks, the Braithwaite victory shows the Welshman is proven world class

Re: Enzo Mac has no class
Although to be fair, had Haye not fought Mormeck - the same could have been applied to him. Braithwaite, even now, is everybit as good as Haye's other opponents.
Re: Enzo Mac has no class
Haye has more than just a world class punch: Haye is possibly the hardest hitting fighter in the World and certainly amongst the top P4P hitters out there.Ant Evans wrote:Enzo needs to admit he lost for the reasons he did, he was unprepared for a genuine world class fighter or a world class punch, his defense isn't good enough for top flight, neither is his chin,
Do you not think Enzo has a decent chance of beating any of the World class fighters at cruiserweight? Do you not consider Enzo to be in the top 10 at cruiserweight? I think his chin can hold up against most of the other top cruiserweights as they are not monster punchers like Haye.
Re: Enzo Mac has no class
While FW always matches his fighters carefully, Enzo has fought in and won in genuine world class, and I see no reason he cannot return to that level.Ant Evans wrote:I understand your point, but we saw what unwarranted self-belief, even "delusional" self belief got Enzo in Feb at the o2. A right good kicking. The fact is FW put him in there with bums, has-beens and never-was types for years and the jump to geninue world class was far too much. Not every fighter who signs a contract with FW is "the best" in his division; and Enzo needs to admit he lost for the reasons he did, he was unprepared for a genuine world class fighter or a world class punch, his defense isn't good enough for top flight, neither is his chin, everyone knows his one good combo is the left hook to the ribs whipped up to the chin etc etc. These are the REAL reasons he get clobbered and the fact he and his trainer are playing "let's pretend" as to the reasons for this disaster tells me they are doomed to suffer a similar fate if and when Enzo steps up to the elite level again.Coco wrote:I think Macca has to hype himself to sell himself to the public and for his own self belief.

There is a reason FW put Enzo in with these average-level fighters for so many years: FW knows Enzo can't take a punch at top level and matched him accordingly. The Haye fight only came about because Haye and Adam Booth tricked FW into thinking David was f-cked at 200lbs.
You could also say that Haye shows no class with his huge confidence and the way he is calling out all the top heavyweights

No I think he means against guys like Braithwaite and Dominguez, Macca has improved hugely since Swaby and Scott.
In fact he showed tremendous heart after he heavy knockdown against the big punching Scott, and came back to impressively finish the job.
No one is trying to say the Welshmans chin is granite, but it's won't stop him being competitive against the top c/w's, also don't forget he is the hardest hitter out there.

Statistically, at least, he doesn't hit as hard as former light-middle Guillermo Jones, who stopped Braithwaite.Coco wrote:No I think he means against guys like Braithwaite and Dominguez, Macca has improved hugely since Swaby and Scott.

Re: Enzo Mac has no class
Just a silly thread really.
Enzo C, no class? Yes. Enzo M, no class? No.
As others have said, what do you expect him to say in the aftermath of getting his arse handed to him. 'I believe that Haye is the best fighter I have faced , or ever will do. I have just witnessed why I will never fight in world class comany again'.
The guy has to pick himself up and move on - not take a year out and dwell on it. Good on Macca. I hope he comes back and proves the doubters wrong when facing some of the bigger names in his division.

Re: Enzo Mac has no class
Enzo should man up and admit the better fighter won, he had all the advantages, his promoter his choice of reff and not at a catch weight and he still got owned and badly so. but having said that I don't really care what a fighter says to help themselves get to sleep at night, they had a test to see who was the better fighter it was called a fight and Enzo lost it, if he wants a rematch I'm sure it could be granted at HW
.
I think someone who should have lost the first fight with Hobson (though looked impressive in the second) is around european class at best world class is pushing it, but if he improves as he seemd to be doing with Enzo Cal then hopefully he'll be world class one day. I don't begrudge him that, he doesn't seem a bad bloke.

Given that the guy was conclusively put on the canvas by his opponent and did not exalt in the person that put him there, shows character. Hopefully he will come back from that. And good luck to him.josh fg wrote:Enzo should man up and admit the better fighter won, he had all the advantages, his promoter his choice of reff and not at a catch weight and he still got owned and badly so. but having said that I don't really care what a fighter says to help themselves get to sleep at night, they had a test to see who was the better fighter it was called a fight and Enzo lost it, if he wants a rematch I'm sure it could be granted at HW.

It's not like being smacked down by an articulate politician proclaiming one thing and doing something hypocritically different.

I like Ant....but you can tell he's moving into UFC now because he doesn't give a shit about offending anyone does he!
Enzo has shown little to me to merit his status as a live contender, let alone a top 3 guy.
I think he's a decent fellow, who does believe he's made mistakes in the Haye fight and we shouldn't expect every vanquished fighter to hand up his balls and say "oh yes I got beat, I couldn't have ever done anything to beat him, he's miles better than me" - a fighter, while acting with class, has to maintain some sense of rationale for defeat to maintain confidence for the future.
Fact of life. Better fighters than Enzo have done it. I thought Enzo has offered enough credit to Haye since the fight. Enzo C, far less so.
But I do believe FW was duped for once and thought Haye was knackered at 200lbs.

Didn't like Buncey just writing off every ranked fighter simply because they were from the Soviet block, distasteful and a bluff for the fact he's not seen enough of them.
Noticeably, he knew about Cunningham, Banks but not the Europeans.
I'm not knocking Buncey because he does do his homework and he's great telly but it seemed ungracious and undermined his role as the expert on the show.
As someone has said there are plenty of those guys with "a k,v or z in their name" that would give Enzo grief.
Forget Swaby, Scott or Haye the fight that told me more about Enzo was the Ismal Abdoul, Enzo couldn't put a glove on him and he stood there with his hands in front of his face for 12 rounds, the one time he opened up Enzo nearly laid an egg.

Re: Enzo Mac has no class
The Welsh write ups are shocking aren't they?
Before Calzaghe v Kessler I read a piece that went something like this:
"They say Mikkel Kessler breaks into a cold sweat every time the name Joe Calzaghe is mentioned.
Since winning the WBA title in 2004, Kessler has managed to avoid a fight with the Pride of Wales.
But now..."
Disgraceful, when you think that Kessler (like everyone else) had to give away all advantages, just so he could risk his 2 belts.

Re: Enzo Mac has no class
Braithwaite was not world class when he fought Enzo, he was very rusty after having only that one fight against a journeyman in 2 years and looked like he knew he was nothing more than a gatekeeper any more. I would rank Gurov and I'd even stretch to Fragomeni by virtue of his ambition over Braithwaite.

Braithwaite won a world title though when Gurov always came up short when he tried. You can't rate two euro level fighters over a former champ
Re: Enzo Mac has no class
I see Enzo's in line for another crack at the WBO vacant title. I mean if he's serious about proving he is the best then he should get a shot at Steve Cunningham - the fight would take place over here because I can't see Sports Network lsong the purse bids. fornicate the WBO - become a proper champion by beating a proper world champion. I will be seriously pissed off if he picks up a vacant belt and the proclaims that he is the best in the world. I do like Enzo but come on, mate, stop messing around.

Arthur doesn't move his head enough to beat Common Sense.

Gurov was beating Mormeck clearly before he got stopped. At no point was Braithwaite ahead vs Mormeck, unless you gave him the first round!Max Molyneux wrote:Braithwaite won a world title though when Gurov always came up short when he tried. I think Mac can become a real world champion with the WBO title. If he can get by Alexander Alexeev - rated above Mac in the WBO - I will hail Mac as a real world champion. If Alexeev beats Mac, I'd also pick him to beat Cunningham.

Particularly when the Scotsman is lamenting the fact those you mention wont come to Edinburgh in front of 1400 people and "unify" with him. Och, bless him. Who is is trainer this week anyway? Do you think he asks his wife before he leaves the house to make sure he's going to the right place.
He's had more trainers than JJB.
30 now? Amazing.
