I've never heard a chin described as dynamite, though I agree he's always had a great chin.

Unless Haye overwhelms him with an early barrage it'll go the distance, or James will fall over with exhaustion at some point and reach for a Scotch egg.

Toney's instinctive counter right hand over Haye's low slung left could give the youngster plenty of problems.

Toney doesnt have the power to trade round after round with David but if he could out slick him, drop in counter shots and draw him onto leads and body shots as he did to Holyfield, the old master just might upset the applecart.

I admit I am a longstanding Toney fan so would love to see him box in the UK - c'mon Haye lets see this fight happen!

According to several americans, this was a good sharp performance and Toney was beating Rahman up, Rahmanhappy for the way 'out'.

Sure Toney would gladly come to the UK to fight Haye, but his great chin and defense combined with his ability to feast on a guy boxing with his hands so low like Haye make him an unlikely opponent. Toney would quite literally eat David Haye (after beating him up).

I have to say, I didn't think James had it in him to get in that kind of shape.

At 39, he is living on borrowed time, but it seems Toney still has more left physically than we thought. Let's hope he stays around that weight for whatever time he has left.

for what it's worth, I think Haye could stop Toney, unlike most of the heavyweights out there, he has both power, and speed, and I think he could hurt Toney without a doubt.

Look at how Haye was caught so clean by Mormeck again and again, Haye also has huge problems on the inside. Toney would make him miss more than ever if hes remotely similar to a few years again and make him pay for keeping those hands low. Haye certainly isnt landing any of those Hayemakers in this 1. Haye matches up well against slower heavyweights but Toney has a bad style for Haye, Haye should be going for a big Hw like Golota imo because he'd KO Golota fast

Yeah last time Haye fought a 40 year old with a huge heart who'd had a million fights it didn't go very well for him but spectial and marketing wise it makes a good fight, he can point to the fact that Rahman beat his hero hollyfield and the two of them will have good press conferences.

I am becoming quite sold on Haye, but after watching the Thompson and Mock fights on You Tube, you have to appreciate how vunerable he is

Wouldn't want to see Haye/Toney, such a physical mismatch, and while JT could well win, as his chin is THAT good, taking heavyweight punches cannot be good for his long term health.
Too good for his own good.

Houston had it right, saying that while Rahman seemed to be looking for an easy way out, you couldn't imagine ever seeing Toney doing the same thing.

I know Toney belies his physique. But to the untrained eye a 40 year old former middleweight with tits isn't going to please the tv audience.

Well yes, hes just a fat middleweight really, so good that he can compete in the land of the giants. Just feel uneasy watching him taking HW bombs,i mean imagine Froch or Taylor getting hit by Wlad - dont want to see him walking on his heels in 5 years time.

You lot are stuck on hype. If Carl Thompson can beat David Haye, then the version of Toney seen last night would definitely beat any David Haye that turns up. It's not even about the manner in which Haye lost to Thompson, it's about a pure talent divide.

Hasim was terrible, he looked like Ali when he fought Trevor Berb..James had to look good and sharp!

Toney was looking slick and timing his shots beautifully in that 3rd rnd. I hope it stays as a Toney win - Rahman didnt show much heart for me when he quit on his stool.

Toney, on the otherhand, overcame horrififc cuts against the likes of Reggie Johnson and Tim Littles back in the day..

I am sorry but that cut wasn't bad enough for the fight to be stopped. Yes, it was bad but come on, the doctor even thought if wasn't a fight-stopping cut until Rahman said he couldn't see clearly. I reckon it should've gone on personally. A cut like that isn't worthy of stopping a bout for me. It's obvious that Rahman wanted a NC but we can't stop fights for those cuts - it's stupid.
