he took a few hundred over to manchester on the haye bill, i was sat right in the middle of them
If that is the case he is not turning down the fight because of money, because this bout may damage him, whereas he is improving and will have bigger fights down the lineScrap wrote:The point Im trying to make Coco, Is Glyn Rhodes works for John Feewkes, not Amir Khan. Obviously Rhodes is not as confident as youScrap wrote:The point Im trying to make Coco, Is Glyn Rhodes works for John Feewkes, not Amir Khan. He has had John from a pup and the Pup is starting to develope Fangs.
A few hundred is prob 10k's worth of tickets, that is not enough to warrant the larger paydaysweetscience wrote:he took a few hundred over to manchester on the haye bill, i was sat right in the middle of them
lol i was thinking the other day that kevin kelly would be the typical opponent for Khan at this stage. shot (?) blown up featherweight and a former world champ. the promoters would have no trouble selling the fight to tv as people still remember naz - kelly.gb wrote:Hate to disrupt the financial advisors on here (although I agree that £30k is a good deposit on a house), but doesn't this represent a huge backward step for Khan. It looked a while ago that he was being brought along at a reasonable pace (Earl coming off a title shot, St. Clair), but he suffers a KD against Gomez (so what - as I've said on many occasions, good fighters get dropped by average fighters in their early careers pretty often) and suddenly he's lined up against a guy with 2 ko wins in 17. No disrespect to John Fewkes, but Khan should be going in at a higher level than this at this stage in his career. He should start taking on some American/Mexaican veterans at this stage. Kevin Kelley?
Apologies to Kevin Kelly for my spelling on that one. He is indeed a blow up featherweight who is pretty much shot, but he's what Jim & Reg would call a "learning" fight for Khan. Best comparison I can think of is when Hatton fought Vince Phillips - realistically only ever one person going to win, but the manner of victory is a good barometer of where the guy is at.rooq wrote:lol i was thinking the other day that kevin kelly would be the typical opponent for Khan at this stage. shot (?) blown up featherweight and a former world champ. the promoters would have no trouble selling the fight to tv as people still remember naz - kelly.gb wrote:Hate to disrupt the financial advisors on here (although I agree that £30k is a good deposit on a house), but doesn't this represent a huge backward step for Khan. but yeah, for a guy who is "way beyond" domestic level, fewkes shouldn't even be in the picture (no disrespect to fireball)
You were right; it's Kevin Kelley.gb wrote:Apologies to Kevin Kelly for my spelling on that one.
Apologies to myself for the apology to Kevin Kelley!Asterix wrote:You were right; it's Kevin Kelley.gb wrote:Apologies to Kevin Kelly for my spelling on that one.
It just seems like if it's a good, absolute non puncher, Khan is allowed to fight them in their primes. Limond, maybe Fewkes. And if they're a puncher, they have to be on their last legs, Gomez and Earl. There's definitely a pattern to it.gb wrote:Hate to disrupt the financial advisors on here (although I agree that £30k is a good deposit on a house), but doesn't this represent a huge backward step for Khan. Exactly - its not like he'll get 30k in his pocket. Consider that this is meant to be a "big" ish fight and say hypothetically this fight is the only one Fewkes has for the year due to reasons such as injuries, thats only 12k in his pocket for the whole year which is eff all really at this moment in time. I think double amount would be fair. On a related note I HATE EFFING TAXES!!sweetscience wrote:30k is shite to be honest
after tax/manager/training he would only b left with about 12k
i dont blame him really
