hey..we have late nite boxing on one of our little terrestrial channels late at night in the uk...they showed Kicketts v gary st clair...i was half asleep but i got the impressive from the highlights that the aussie commentators thought kicketts was well beaten ? was i dreaming this ?

he looked exciting if a little too open ...but as i sed they only showed 20% of the fight

The commentators were on drugs, the fight had a lot of close rounds. Kickett landed the harder shots but because Gairy was coming forward they thought he was winning. The right man got the nod in my opinion but not many peole agree with me as they idolise the commentators   And think there word is gospel  :TU:

Ben is leading you astray here bloke, Gairy clearly won the fight. Here is what I wrote in another thread "Gairy owned the ring, made Kickett miss and dominated on the inside. For the most part St Clair made Kickett fight his fight, he controlled the style and tempo of the fight. He had Kickett and his trainers shamelessly buying time with tactics such as "forgeting" his mouthguard and applying to much vaso. Kickett did have his moments throughout the fight, no doubt, however in the end he was simply outclassed. If you want to talk about robberies in the memory of Fenech Nelson I it doesn't get any more flagrant than what we saw last night.

To add to the quote above, the crowd in the pub I was watching simply laughed when the decision was anounced. What could have been a great night for Australian boxing turned into a farce. It is now evident that as soon as the fight was signed it was always going to be a win for the young prospect, no matter what happend in the ring..."

Although Willie lost that fight in my opinion, the bout would have done him a world of good, viz seeing out the 10 rounds, mixing it with a master tactician and learning from the experience that it gets harder and faster as you climb up the totem pole.
