Man Silva looks tiny in there with Augustama and its seems the judges dont much care for bodyshots

I thought Augustama had bad luck with the judging of that fight. He clearly landed many body blows that werent counted, the judges are very cautious.

Augustma clearly beat Silva, fighting for a smaller country never gives you the benefit of any doubt. Ask Andre Berto about the 2004 games.

Washington Silva (BRA) d Azea Augustama (HAI) 6-2

Augustama made a solid account for himself, but Silva had a tight guard and more experience. I can see Augustama being a solid pro, as he has a powerful physique and likes to power punch.

Just a few fights in and Teddy has questioned the entire objective legitimacy of the scoring. It's amazing how little he and Papa actually know about amateur boxing - in fact they didn't mention once that Augustama has spent the majority of his life in the US.

I defently agree, I saw Augustama as the winner.

The scoring has alway been flawed. Remember when all 5 judges had Eric griffin the winner and he still lost by 1 point because the timing of the clicks didnt match up ?

Rematch now of the African Qualifier won by Samir 10-4

Bastie Samir (GHA) d Dauda Izobo (NGR) RSC-3

Nice rock em sock em fight. Samir might be able to take Silva. His wide left hook knockdowns won't be there, but perhaps he can bully the Brazilian.

I think his brother John is the better prospect.

Egan beat him 21-1 at the Worlds, funny they mentioned Jackson lost opening round and even Egan winning a few bouts but they didnt tell us they fought each other. Wonder if they thought it would make viewers less interested.

Jackson is sloppy BUT he does seem to have some pop. Could be a better pro then amateur.

They're just reading the information on the Olympic data sheets. I'm quite sure that neither of them know that they fought each other in Chicago. It's very clear that they did almost no research for this tournament, and so they're going to drive me crazy with their ill-informed prattling. Given Teddy's tendency to repeat himself constantly and Papa's generallack of anything interesting to say, it's going to be a long tournament.

Kenneth Egan (IRL) d Julius Jackson (ISV) 22-2

Given the draw, a silver is not out of the question for Egan.

That's only good if you're in Canada. The broadcasters are pretty touchy about their rights. Unfortunately, being on US TV means that boxing doesn't get the raw internet feed from NBC. I was watching some Judo earlier and it was bliss, other than that I find Judo dull. No announcers, no commercials, full action, no human drama pieces.

US showed the Korobov fight. Meanwhile,

Bahram Muzaffer (TUR) d Aziz Ali (KEN) 8-3

Two more fights, then time for bed.

After the Beterbiev-Katende fight, there's going to be a three-hour break and no more TV coverage for me. I think Telemundo will show some of the fights, but I don't have it. So write some good info on the bouts for me to read when I get up. :TU:

I watched all the fights up to the Korobov fight. The scoring system is really crummy if you ask me... :-?
