Froch is gonna be just another decent British fighter who may or may not pick up an alphabet title and defend it in Britain. What British boxing needs is more guy's who will take the step into elite class and stay there. That's where we always drop off. Froch isn't ever going to do that.
I understand your point, but he's the mandatory now. The title fight should kick into gear before the year is out, otherwise I agree completely with you.

Froch can draw a decent crowd already and should be able to pull in an even better crowd when he's Nottinghams first World Champion in x years. I think a World Title will do alot more for Froch than it did for Witter

i don't know why people go on about him so much.
remember him labouring his way past magee and dale westerman.
and yet some on here are accusing calzaghe of avoiding fighting him.
if froch can deliver in style against someone like pascal i may start thinking again about him.
but until then i'm so bored with his progress.
i reckon audley gets knocked out again before we see froch back in a ring.

You managed to diss 2 of my fave boxers in one sentence, I was just throwing abit of stick back at ya.
He seemed to struggle to get himself up for the Westerman fight and it wasn't a great performance, but Magee is no mug who got KTFO for the first time

I think that Froch is similar to Calzaghe (and many other fighters to be honest) in that he fights to the level of his opponent on his occasion. Who after all, thought that the same boxer that was decked by Salem and went the distance in a tepid bout with Rick Thornberry would handle Lacy and Kessler so well?
I was at the Magee fight and always got the impression that Froch was fighting within himself, as well as getting a bit too complacent after dropping Magee in the first. The finish was absolutely devastating though and I honestly didn't expect to see Magee back in the boxing ring after that. When Froch's felt he's had to step it up (Sergey Tatevosyan springs to mind), he's done so with aplomb.
However, I share the thoughts of many others in terms of being extremely concerned about the rate at which his career has progressed. To my mind, no matter what happens from here, he's already wasted a significant amount of his prime.

Says the Money Hatton fan, who only fights people he outclasses or people he's getting paid £10m to get sparked out by, the excitement is palpable

. At least Froch wants to fight in proper contests, it's just that no fcuker'll get in the ring with him. When he gets his title he'll produce more excitement in 1 year than Hattons done in a career.
I'm trying to stop Hatton bashing (he's still a prick for ducking Witter) and yo ain't helping my cause

Chambers,
Sorry mate but if you're buying the line "nobody will fight me" you are dellusional.
Every meaningful fighter at SM will fight Froch - provided the money is right.
Jesus for the right price belt holders will come to Nottingham for it.
So what's the common denominator between a fighter who at 31 years of age and is the mandatory challenger getting less and less work ?
The Promotor, that's who.
Speculate to accumulate.
Pay the right purse, secure the title, then dictate terms. It ain't rocket science - provided you have the financial clout and the balls to put it on the line.

Wowdya! You're reading way too deep into what I said ("it's just that no fcuker'll get in the ring with him") I was solely referring to Inkins 2 bottle jobs and Taylor deciding to fight Lacy rather Froch.
Frochs career's been stalling of late, but alot of thats been down to Inkin and to lesser extent Taylor. This Pascal bout is looking extremely likely for sometime in November, it also looks as though it's going to be for a vacant World title (WBC??) and it looks as though it's going to be on hometurf. If this turns out to be what's happening then I think Micks done well, he'll just need to follow it up with a quickfire defence or 2 then he'll have to start delivering the BIG boys (Kessler especially).
Everybody knows that Witter is an absolute nightmare to promote, due to his following, his awkward style and his potential to be TV unfriendly, but Froch is a totally different kettle of fish!! He's superstar material, especially with ITV on board. Don't get me wrong there's a lot of pressure on Mick and he needs to be delivering good fights regulalry (3 a year IMO), but I think it's too early to be writing him off as a spent force. Of course if Mick doesn't deliver what he has to over the next 6-12 months, then Carl HAS to go and knock on The Hayemakers door

It doesn't have to be Hayemaker Chambers.
If as you put it he's superstar material (I don't happen to agree, but that's a separate debate) then there are plenty who would get him there - swiftly.
As for the hard done by Inkin / Taylor stories there is more to this than meets the eye.
I speak to people in Europe who are close to the ground boxing wise, and what I consistantly hear is that Froch's backers consistantly play into potential opponents hands by not coming up with the cash. In other words when boxers are avoiding you, if you make them an offer they can refuse, that's exactly what they'll do.
I've also heard the other side of the coin that messrs Inkin / Taylor would have been here like a shot if the money was right.
Everyone has to form their own opinion, because no one but the players themselves know the truth.
Reality is Froch was 25 I think until he made his pro debut.
He's now 31.
2008 - One fight and forgettable at that.
2007 - Two fights, one against a washed up Robin Reid.
2006 - Three fights, Westerman Magee Dodson.
Draw your own conclusions.
Appreciate there's the injury during this time to consider, but really if he's that good we should have seen more.
I have seen what you have said about ITV.
Is that accurate ?
I've seen no formal announcement of a TV deal for either Hennessey or Froch.
If I'm wrong, I stand corrected.

You know far more of what goes on behind the scenes than myself and I take on board all of what you're saying. If it is as you say and it's Hennesseys lack of financial clout that's causing the problems with the likes of Inkin/Taylor then my opinions will be effected.
To be honest I like Mick Hennesseys promoting ethos, but primarily I'm a Froch fan and want to see him do well. Mick and Carl have been together since day 1 and IMO he at least deserves this one last throw of the dice to see what he can come up with, Pascal followed by a few quickfire fights.
I don't think nothings signed with ITV I got the impression it was more of a show-by-show arrangement, but if MH's shows impress the public there should be somat more concrete down the line (there's a shit load of reading between lines done to write those last few lines).
I agree that Carl and Micks record over the last 3 years isn't great and they need to get a move on. Carls career should be further progressed than it is, but it can be turned round with 2-3 quickfire fights against decent opposition over the next 12 months, if Mick doesn't deliver then Carl has to forget sentiment for the sake of his boxing career. I really hope they can both turn things round from what's been a fcuking awful time lately

Chambers,
I am right with you, that loyalty is a great thing, and I fully agree with you that certainly in his formative years (albeit that he was 25/26 at the time) Hennessey was great for Carl, and I've no doubts whatsoever paid him really well.
Somtimes loyalty is stretched though, and no longer is the money as important, but the oppertunities are.
Boxing, in that respect is a bloody horrible business.
Let me make it clear I'm not leading a campaign to slag Hennessey off.
Far from it, I've had some great nights watching Hennessey Promotions.
For those who were there, who would ever forget Dave Walker against Spencer Fearon ?
It has often been suggested that Mick has been messed around by the intervention of certain other Promotors.
I don't buy into that, but again only the players know the truth.
I really don't want Carl to miss his chance and sincerely hope Hennessey deliver, but I can't help having my doubts.
What is for sure, if Pascal v Froch can't be put on in the UK for the vacant title, then something has to give.

I hope Froch gets his shot. But you have to agree he's been poorly managed. I mean he's a great "tv" fighter - he can bang, his defence is questionable and he takes chances. He should have had a lot more exposure and fights than he's had upto now. Whatever you say about Froch - he's good to watch most of the time - he may or may not turn out to be an elite fighter but these days exciting fighters get more chances than good ones.

I pretty much agree, I think if Froch wasn't British he'd have been been moved up in class a long time ago. I would have imagined Froch having a similar career to Edison Miranda.
I'm sure he's made decent money by now, but I hope he gets a chance before it too late.

I seem to remember Gomez - who is as pro-Froch and Hennessy as its gets - say the ITV deal was nailed on a while back.
Do you know the latest Gomez?
Something must have hit the buffers.... we would have definitely had a release by now.
Somewhere, somebody said about Hennessy doing some good Friday Night Fights. If so, that means he is still with Sky. There is no way they are going to fork out all the money for a WBC fight...
That means Froch travelling, or Hennessy pulling in US/Overseas TV and big ticket revenues to make it happen. It's going to be interesting.
Whatever anyone says, Hennessy is prepared to take risks and Froch has earnt well out of his career. Let's not jump down anyones throat until we see what happens.
Hennessy and Froch have always spoken about the traditional route and have stuck to their word. If they can stick to it, fair play. It was always going to take time.

I'm surprised nothing has ever been done with Goldenboy. It would be great to get him on a Hatton undercard or of another big American fight to get him some exposure.
He has the same problem as Witter, a good skillful fighter but relatively unknown outside of the UK. The reward for fighting him is very low. I'm sure the likes of Lacy or Pascal can earn as much fighting on ESPN moneywise, as much exposure and less risk.
Personally I think Henessey has a great attitude towards promotion, good matches, solid cards but he doesn't have the financial clout for fighters like Witter or Froch to make it in the big time.

Maelstrom,
A simple question for you.
If Froch is going the traditional route, why isn't he challenging / fighting Christian Sanavia ?
