I think there is a third way.
NaFianna wrote:Absolutely... listen... you're either British or your not. Dunne is not British- he can't be on the list!
Yet he is.
Then it's just a completely bogus list. You're calling it a "British Top 30" and a couple of fighters are NOT British. So, what are ya trying to pull? If you're just being defiantly disrespectful, then that's typical and predictable- Irish are used to that kind of disrespect through the ages from the Brits, but if you want to be official about it, then they don't belong on the list. Honestly, I'm pretty sure the boxers in question won't mind

well said. This guy seems to think the fighters care about his list. As said above I dont think duddy or dunne will be up at night if theyre not on your list.

Guys, guys, guys...

This is just a list of 1 man (with way to much time on his hands) posting, for god knows what reason, a monthly list of his own favourite fighters.

It isnt in any way an official list

It would be like me posting a "Thailand's top 30 prostitute" list, it would purely be a personal choice, not an official ranking of prostitutes

Cheers

:D
I think it is too early for Barker to be in the top 15, if he fights and beats Elcock then maybe. If Enzo beats Banks for the WBO title then he will probably go above those fighters.
TheGoods wrote:You telling me John Murray is NOT among the 30 best fighters in Britain? Suppose he is only an unbeaten British champion who is consistently calling out Khan and who put in a career best shift in his last fight.
Murray has only just won the British title, if he can defend it then he will probably enter the list. Most British lightweights call out Khan, I don't see how that helps Murray's case.

I have to agree with earlier comments, either it's a British and Irish list or just British and should be named accordingly.
I decided to add Irish fighters to my list last September (over a year ago). I don't know why there is such fuss this month.
BigEars wrote:Want to explain this third way ?
I will introduce a feature, starting next month, to distinguish Irish fighters from the rest. I hope that will be enough for those who are displeased with the current situation.

McIntyre and Appleby beat better fighters to become British champion. Murray only won a vacant title.
twenty six wrote:The goods,
Same goes for Rhodes.
You telling me he's not a top 30 fighter ?
Rhodes is unproven as British champion. If he beats Coyle then he might have done enough to enter the list.

Wayne Elcock is too high in my rankings, I admit that, but he beat a fringe world class fighter in Howard Eastman to win his title. Which is a bigger achievement than beating either Meager or Woolcombe, who were not rated very highly before they lost to Murray and Rhodes. If Murray and Rhodes make successful defences of their belts then I will be more convinced of their ability.

Ireland is a part of the British Isles, so it is clearly far more British than Mexico or the USA. And why would I need Mexicans, Americans or Irish boxers to make a top 100 list?

Ehhhh... obviously Horses don't go to school, but that's no excuse. IRELAND (the south) is NOT part of the British Isles. There was a rising in 1916 and the south of Ireland became a free-state, by driving the Brits out of the south- now the south is free from British rule. There are 6 of the 9 counties in Ulster under control of a foreign power- Britain. Therefore, all the trouble you may have heard about for the past 40 years, which you surely know about, unless you had no telly in your stable as a young little horsey? So even if approx 1/6 of Ireland is officially under British rule, you could not constitute that the island of IRELAND is part of the British Isles, unless you were a total dummy. Bernard Dunne is from Dublin, which is the capital fo the free-state- SO, my young bucko, he's still not British, as much as you want him to be, you ignorant, bigoted shithead!

To clear things up technically Ireland is part of the geographic description which the British Isles is. However this term was coined before Ireland left the United Kingdom and today you will often hear terms such as 'British and Irish Isles' to move away from the now incorrect term of 'British Isles'

None of the Island of Ireland is part of Britain. Northern Ireland is part of the UK and the Republic of Ireland is its own Republic(as you may tell by the name  ) with the title of the nation being just 'Ireland'(as the island is called).

From a modern stand point you would equally be as correct to have a Mexican in a British rankings list as Bernard Dunne. John Duddy is not a British citizen either, unlike Ajose Olusegun is now(another figher to consider for your list) and as such doesn't really belong on a British rankings list.

Just for a bit of historical information for anyone that actually finds it interesting(I'm guessing that's no one), although there was a Rising in Ireland in 1916, fighting continued with Britain and it wasn't till 1921 that Independance was given to 26 of Ireland's 32 counties.
Ireland did actually form it's own Republic in 1919 but only the Russians and Ireland itself recognised it.

Anyway partition was agreed to with a boundary commission set up to decide the lines for Northern Ireland the the Republic of Ireland 'Permanently', Nationalists had believed that the new Irish Free State would receive two more counties as there was Nationalist majorities in Tyrone and Fermanagh I believe, but the boundary was left as per the original lines.

The Irish Free State was changed to Éire in 1937 and was a Republic in all but name(still having a monarch as head of state prevented this), in 1949 Ireland became a full Republic and left the British Commonwealth. Northern Ireland remains part of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to this day. Citizens of Northern Ireland are entitled to British citizenship, Irish, citizenship or both.

Britain= England, Scotland, Wales
United Kingdom= England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland

I hope that was informative, now to keep this mildly on topic, Wayne Elcock is too high, where are Murray and Rhodes....[rabble, rabble, rabble]

Truscott hasn't fought recently, so I haven't had the chance to enter him in the list. Munyai was world ranked at bantamweight and he lost at featherweight, so it wasn't a massive win for Akaba, although it was obviously good.
