So a professional promoter was speaking to our leading amateur purely as an altruistic gesture?

Of course

I didn't realise Frank provided dietary advice and consulation as a sideline! Anyone got his number as I've gone up to a 32'' waist recently??!!

Too late, he's busy helping Hatton sans Kayes.

If they need 250,000 buys to make it profitable at Khan's level of remuneration, what do you reckon he's asking for; £250k per fight? £500k - seems to high even for Khan to request.
However, given the show is unlikely to draw that, is it any surprise the more meaningful bouts have fallen by the wayside.
They'd eat into the pot, and in truth, despite our protestations to the contrary - wouldn't sell proportionaly more PPV buys.
I also wonder how that factored against the MAB rumour for Arthur too?

You are reading it wrong, and as an aside quoting it out of context. He switches tack:
"Frankie Gavin is also a good fighter and he rang me up when he was out there, asking my advice about the weight. I said, 'You've got to go and see the team doctor and [coach] Terry Edwards because you've got a problem.' It's pretty crazy that he couldn't make the weight.
"I don't know what the score is with Frankie now. I've got something in mind and if it's suitable we'll do a deal. If it's not then someone else will. I also like Billy Joe Saunders. I think he'll make an excellent pro. He was the only fighter I spoke to before the Games and that was because he approached me."
First paragraph is about a personal conversation, uncle Frank helping out a lad, the language is a bit more casual. Second is more business like.
Yes I see that, but he doesn't stress the reason why there has been contact with Sanders. If it would have been clearer why Sanders approached him... never know he might have been having weight troubles aswell.
He stresses that the only fighter he spoke to before the games was Sanders, not "the only fighter I spoke to discuss a proffesional contract before the games"... if that was quoted then there is no contradiction, but its not.

250,000 buys at that price is £3.7 Million thats a lot of money. I bet the figure more like a 100,000 buys is required. It get about 150,000 I think maybe more.

I cant see them getting 250'000 buys - However, the presumption is that they only need to translate, what about 5% of the ITV audience. On that basis it sounds easily doable.
Anyone got an idea how the PPv pie is shared out? - I presume SKY are taking a fair percentage, along with the promoter. I'd be suprised if khan is going to get a slice of the PPV buys at this stage of his career.

0.625 buy rate would be 29% of the UK households that watched Hatton v Mayweather. That's alot, but doable.
In context, a 0.4+ buy rate in the States is considered a success.

"Last Saturday evening, watching a rotund Hamed sitting next to a cheerful Warren at the Emirates Stadium, as the promoter's beloved Arsenal sliced through the Newcastle defence with even more panache than he once displayed in the ring, it was poignant to remember that his quintessential "monster" had reflected earlier that day on the "biggest mistake" he ever made.
"I should never have left Frank," Hamed sighed. "It was the worst thing I ever did." The fat old fighter laughed, in embarrassment, and walked over to embrace his former promoter.
Warren, now, smiles a little sadly. "It meant a lot to have heard that ... maybe they'll all think that one day."
He can't seriously have said that? If he did he's undergone some Road to Damascus-style transformation.

If allegedly needs 250,000 PPV buys to justify this shit opponent, it doesn't bode too well for the future standard of Amirs opponents IMO. Amir could get very rich fighting below-par opposition, which is not very Warren-like.... oh hold up
Warrens the businessman, so far be it for me to criticise, but the business plan for this new Khan adventure looks abit ropey and risky

Just said on BBC news that Frank was awarded a 6 figure sum because of Vince Phillips comment In Hatton's book. Did they have solicitors checking that stuff before they published It?
