Arthur thought he won the fight.
Agreed, but neither are elite Jr Lightweights.

You thought Arthur won the fight?
By 2-3 rds, Cook was very competive though.

That's right. On Bunce's Boxing Hour the other day, Kev said, if Cook won the WBO, he'd go the IBF route as he and Nicky are big mates (and sparring partners) and wouldn't want to fight each other.

Calzaghe and Richie Woodhall were very good friends and they got it on !!

Cooke was the better man and had the upper hand for the majority of the fight.

The arena was scattered with supporters of Arthur, easily recognisable by their kilts and sporrans. The young Scottish gentleman I sat next to, acknowledged that Arthur had conceded the fight. He left the arena absolutely gutted and did not even stay for the Khan fight.

It was great to see the support of AAA both by his fellow Scotsmen and English supporters alike. It is very disappointing that he would resort to the racism card over his defeat.

Definately sour grapes. AAA did not perform on the evening. The only person he should be blaming is the man in the mirror.......

I agree with the views here, although Arthur did seem very surprised at the decision at the time.

Hang on, so English and Scots are from different races, I didnt know that. I think the arguement has to do with regional bias.

Arthur is just a bitter fecker these days, he's been this way ever since Gomez smashed him 5 years ago. No class whatsoever shown by him, Cook deserved that win fair and square.

Arthur was well beaten by Cook. Just imagine what Guzman would have done to him! He's very lucky he got to hold a world title, albeit fleetingly and by default.

Yeah Cook won that fight in a canter in all honesty.

I thought he boxed excellently for a Euro level world title fight. The sparring he did with Lynes obviously helped. He moved off from side to side, unloaded with an variety of sharp punches and moved away or tied up. Intelligent work.

Arthur must have felt he was winning the fight, which brings into question what his corner was telling him, because he appeared to have no urgency in his work at all.

I thought the love-in after the fight was a bit strange. But from Arthur's point of view, surely he didn't think that his alignment with God would see him prevail on the judges sorecards -that would have been divine intervention.

I'm not gonna get too hung up on his comments, afterall, he gave me perhaps the funniest and entertaining night of domestic boxing ever when Michael Gomez smashed him to pieces.

His gormless, blood splattered face smiling up at the camera was priceless

No English judges required by Gomez that night, eh Mr Arthur ?
I thought the channel switched to gay porn tv at the start of the 12th, thought they wasnt going to stop kissing and stroking each other, I was expecting one of em to turn the other around and pull their pants down, and when Cook said after that ' they are going to meet for a drink' I actually began to wonder if he meant in a romantic way, did anyone see where they went after? Did they shower?
which brings me to another thought, has there ever been any confirmed gay boxers or are these our two suspects? :o

The way Arthur was behaving was truly bizzare, all that 'give me faith champ' shite in the corner, and all the smiling and hugging during the fight. When they said they were going out for a meal, I thought they meant immediately afterward, the way Arthur was hugging and kissing cook, I thought he was going to proposition him.

Now this shite. What on earth is going on in Alex's head. I question whether he really wants to fight or not.

I am pretty certain that's Arthur's last fight at 130lbs - he looked shocking at the weigh-in. That said though, I really need to see this fight, so if anyone can help me out, I will be grateful to you. Thanks.

Eff me, that's made me laugh, was just typing up something similar and came back to read this. I felt exactly the same way, when Cook said 'I've got his number and we're going for a drink' I thought they had a cab waiting outside and a hotel room booked.

Arthur must know he lost. The wide margin is probably what offended him.

Is Clapham Common an up-and-coming training camp, I wonder?

Cook did say before his fight with Arthur that if he won he would fight Mitchell if the money was right, he must be pretty sure from their spars that he has got Kevin's number ! It's an easy fight to make so if Kevin wants to be champion its sure that he will be calling out for the fight......If he is confident! :box:

Kevin Mitchell said he wouldbn't fight Cook when he was on Bunceys boxing hour, because they were great mates. He said "if Arthur wins I'll target him, if Nicky wins I'll look down other routes"

Cook told Arthur 'you've won the fight!"

Post by ALI »

................ at least according to Arthur anyway. He's quoted over on the BBC as saying that after the final bell Cook approached him and said:

"You're a great champion, you have won the fight. Well done."

Can anyone confirm this? I've yet to see the fight but by all reports Cook was a handy winner.
