Which then really says the state of European Boxing, cause Khan has beaten a former European champion (undefeated with that belt) a Commonwealth champion and a man who drew with a guy who held the current EBU champion (who people are hyping) to a close, close decision in the Ukraine.

2 of these have been career long lightweights.

I agree, totally. One of the things with boxing is that a really good shot, not properly blocked, can knock a man out . And that is exactly what happened.

Given that Prescott has a 90% KO record , it is fair to say he carries such a punch.

I actually have a feeling Prescott might fight Katsidis next.

Bollocks. He came out, stood toe to toe and thought he could outspeed BP. He should have learnt from that jab that wobbled him that he couldn't hack the power and got on his bike.

He was KOed clean because he is a dumb robot who doesn't know how to use his talent against slightly tricky opponents. A thinking man's fighter he is not and will never be. Get used to it all of you.

Cynic!

presscott has proven that can has a glass chin and that he has only been fighting bums. One of the main reseons why khan lost to BP was his lack of experience with top quility fighters.

By the presscotts fighting Ivan Hernandez 24 wins (13)kos - 3 losses and this would probably be an easy fight for btreidis presscott because ivan hernandez is a natural flighwiet going lightwight to fight presscott

Ivan Hernandez is a featherweight at best. :o

Prescott will blow him away. What a useless fight.

Agree with you, James. If Amir boxes sensibly, he'd have no trouble with the Thaxton who fought Romanov. And everybody loves Murray, but his best win - vs Meager - is some way short of Khan's best wins (Earl and St Clair).
I still think Khan would beat Thaxton. I'd definitely favour Murray over Khan now.
Wow someone thinks Khan would beat Thaxton even tough Thaxton is a big puncher

I think Khan would have success over Thaxton because of his speed and his newly adjusted style.

Sorry, but what European champ has Khan beaten?

I think you're being a bit negative.

Maybe Khan just has a suspect chin and got starched by a big puncher...

Autobarn, I was being a tad sarcastic on my post. My post was meaning that Khan has done alot for someone labelled spoon fed, he's beaten some of the best in Europe. Which either means European boxing is rubbish at Lightweight or Khan just got caught.

Re: European Title, my mistake - I thought Earl won the EBU title when he beat Romanov? What title did he win that night, any?

I know it was 54 seconds, but I was really impressed with Prescott... lot of unanswered questions but last time I was that impressed with a fighter on the basis of a blow out was a young Acelino Freitas - and he didn't turn out to bad.

First Frank was supposed to have signed him and would bring him back on the next Khan show. Then a US outfit was supposed to have signed him and he was to fight over there. Now the talk is of a Docherty match.

What's the truth?

i dont think we can read to much into prescot from that, other than he has alot of power, but most top ten boxers wont walk onto the end of that shot, except maybe katsidis. i will be interested to see what he does next though. anyone any idea who he might fight? not like he'll need alot of time of is it
He was completely destroyed!

oh i get you. Earl beat Romanov in a non title fight. We'll agree that Earl has a win over a sometime European champ!

I think Romanov's very good. Hopefully he doesn't go back to the EBU title.

I like the look of Prescott. Ppl say how bad he looked vs Avril or Abril whatever the name was. However,I always point to Caballero. Looked like shit vs Lacierva, but was brilliant beating guys like Molitor and Sithchatchawal.

I hope Romanov gets his WBA title shot vs Moses. Apparently his promoter has some option on Moses, something like that. And I hope Arena Box have genuinely got hold of Prescott. Can't see any good coming of it if Warren has a piece of Prescott. Reckon Arena would match him more aggressively, and try and ready him for the shot at Campbell. Surely would be embarrassing for Khan if Warren put on something like Prescott v Docherty - would have thought he'd be glad to see the back of Breidis.

Unbeaten Colombian banger Breidis Prescott faces seasoned Mexican Ivan Hernandez in the States on February 20.
Prescott, 20-0 (18), makes his first appearance since he smashed Amir Khan in 54 seconds in Manchester last September, smashing Khan's unbeaten record in the process. The 25-year-old Prescott looks like an explosive prospect, a particularly explosive starter, with 15 wins inside three rounds. He clearly struggles for lightweight opponents. Hernandez steps up from featherweight to take him on but has not fought since last May and must have put on a few pounds in the interim, one hopes. Hernandez also brings plenty of top-flight experience. The man nicknamed "Choco" went in quite recently with a now half-blind Israel Vaszquez and was stopped in four rounds but comes off a decent eight-round decision over useful Ghanaian Anyetei Laryea. Altogether, he is 24-3-1 (13).
Hernandez should be able to cope, at least for a few rounds, with the weight, the height and the power of Prescott.

I don't think Frank has any interest in Prescott whatsoever. He only took options on him in a face saving exercise. If Khan had hammered the unknown into oblivion then Warren would never have mentioned his name again. As for Prescott, well, I think he's another Kiko Martinez. Strong, powerful puncher who can expose a bad (or available) chin but will get outboxed when he fights someone with the right tools.

His fight with Richard Abril reveals a lot if you get the chance to see it.

Ivan Hernandez for Prescott?

Hernandez was a bantamweight wasn't he? Or had he been at even smaller weights before that?

Hopefully Prescott gets him out the way fast.

I think Khan would beat Thaxton, just the way the styles match up. I don't think Thaxton (that Euro title win aside) is that big a puncher and he got destroyed by Romanov. His best chance against Khan would be in the later rounds.

the fact that prescott hasnt got back into the ring is perhaps an indication of something. Khan gets blitzed and is back in within a few weeks

we only need to cast our minds back to the agreement with Don king about Harrison or Skelton fighting samuel peter and then when it wasnt happening just silence from SN.

I hope this year they change ther attituted and get some decent fight together
what with this current climate a lot of people are looking for good match ups

Look at Elcock vs Macklin , Murray vs Mccallister , Simpson vs Truscott
and of course Haye and Hatton due for big fights

Friday Fight night used to be good British title fights
now its turned into the Commenwealth title Show.
