I saw Wilson vs Briggs on Friday night and Hoppa starts as favourite. Against Solomon i think Hoppa would win by a mid round stoppage. Hoppas got a solid chin, well decent enough to last a 2 round barrage, and then he can go and win the fight, taking advantage of Solomons lack of committment and crappy training.

Ben Why doesn't it warrant a response?

Because im right here. I have no doubt about it. Hoppa would beat Solomon Haumono.

Did you not see Solomons last fight? He can't fight past the second round. Hoppa has a lot more stamina based on last nights fight.

I know Hoppa was a 2 round joke when he first came across, but hes got a lot of power, and his stamina is coming along nicely.

He landed some vicious shots all throughout the fight.

I think hes our best HW. Easy.
Be serious for once. Hopoate beat a man at the end of his career. Meehan would tear him a fresh arsehole. :box:

yeah well, now that I have read a few posts i will put my two bobs worth in. When I found out that firstly that these two boys were fighting for our National Title I felt very empty. Nothing against the guys as they prepare just as hard as the others but really, we are one of the few sports that crown champions who aren't necessarrily the BEST. Grand Finals, Wimbledon etc crown the very best because you must beat the best to be crowned the CHAMPION. I am not gonna go into the politics of how and why and more importantly who vies for these honours but again must express my feeling of emptiness about Hoppa being our best heavyweight.

I have said all along that the Australian champion should be the best Australian fighter in his weight division. Jimmy Carruthers had no problem being Australian, Empire and World Bantamweight Champion at the same time, same with Lionel Rose.

The ANBF sees it otherwise. Australian champions can be outside of the top five in the country. It is ridiculous.

The only thing I find hard about that (and this is taking into account how boxing works these days) is what happens when, let's say - forgetting their skill levels for a second, but I'll use the most likely based on skill level for the purpose of this argument - Kali Meehan is a world champ - use WBC for now, also holds the Aussie title - which I wouldn't have a problem with BUT then Wilson and Briggs fight to be #1 in Australia - Briggs wins - does he have the right to fight Meehan? He's a world champ, he's not going to fight lowly Nathan Briggs for the Aussie Title and potentially risk any world title defences, either losing or injury. If Briggs wins, does that make him, currently ranked 85/1107 in HW division, a contender for a world title? Does it all of the sudden make him a top 10 fighter? Can Briggs get a rematch but for the WBC belt, not to defend his newly-claimed Aussie title?

It sucks arse that someone like Hoppa, who until Big Bob had never fought a heavy with a winning record, can be crowned our Aussie champ without even fighting the likes of Briggs, De Mori, Haumono or Wilson - not that those fighters are that great, but they're at least the better fighters in the division. If he'd at LEAST fought - and beat - one of those, THEN I'd say he could be considered for the title.

Did you see Haumono vs Couser? Haumono ran out of gas half way through the second round.

I think Hoppa could do a number on him in the later rounds.

In saying that, Hoppa said they wouldn't fight though cause good friends.

You can't take me seriously at all? Now why is that?

Is it because you can't seem to realize Haumono looked terrible in his last outing. And he couldnt' throw a punch after the first round.

And is it also because you can't accept Mundine is fighting in the US? Maybe everyone just wanted him to fight Shannon Taylor so we could keep bagging him out.

I find your response lazy. You have been baiting me for a few days now.
    I accept Mundines opponents when its official never before that, If you have watched his entire career you would understand why.
If you think Hoppa is our best Heavy you are seriously mistaken and i will leave it at that.

De Mori would outbox Hoppa anyday, Hoppa needs to fight Briggs or Wilson before taking on someone like Cameron or Leapai.

Convict - Surely Hoppa's gonna need more than one or two fights before he gets in with someone like Cameron?

Even if he has another 15 fights he wouldnt last 3 rounds with Cameron. Cameron is in a diffrent class to Hoppa and would KO him easily.
Hoppa was hurt a couple of times by Mirovic and if Bob was a few years younger he would have KOd Hoppa when he had the chance.

That's sorta wat I was thinking, but as it is I don't think Camerons going anywhere for a while, so the fight might happen one day anyway
