If Hopkins were to beat Pavlik that wouldnt necessarily mean Joe would beat Pavlik. Whatever happens, even if Pavlik were to stop Hopkins in the 2nd you couldnt assume Pavlik would easily beat Calzaghe. If Calzaghe/Pavlik happens I would definately say it would be a 50/50. Both fighters are winners with very different styles. Joe has the better skills but Pavlik has youth on his side. Pavlik could KO Joe, but its extremely unlikely Joe would KO Pavlik. Fighting Pavlik would be the most risky fight Joe has ever fought including Kessler. My advice to Joe would be dont push your luck too far if you want to retire undefeated. RJJ will be tough but Joe should come through that and IMO should retire. People will say he ducked Pavlik, but the arguement would go on to fighting Froch, Bute etc. Joe is making good money at last and good luck to him but money isnt everything. My opinion is you can go on too long and end up getting badly beaten. RJJ and hang em up.

Because Lacy has looked terrible since the Calzaghe fight. How well do you think Jermain Taylor would do against Epifanio Mendoza or Peter Manfredo Jr? An awful lot better than Lacy did.[/quote]

Don't think Lacy has much chance against Taylor to be honest. Taylor is going to benefit enormously from the move up in weight - he's absolutely huge for middleweight, and has clearly been killing himself to make weight, affecting his stamina.

I'm not overawed by Taylor, he's not really got the makeup to be a truly great fighter, but he's a tremendous specimen, and has decent skills - Lacy has looked like dogshit since Calzaghe battered him, he's mentally shot as far as I can see. Just like humpty dumpty, they'll never be able to put him together again.

Styles makes fight and I would say Hopkins causes Pavlik more problems than Joe would. Hopkins is harder to hit clean. Think Pavlik will struggle more against back foot fighters. I'm not saying I wouldn't back Joe to beat Pavlik.

Hoping so, he's so overrated just for walking forward with 1-2's.

Any top fighter north of 160 could beat Pavlik and that includes Hopkins, Joe, Kessler and Tarver.

Hopkins is a legend regardless of what happens. HE has gone Prime for Prime with the greats, Sometimes losing, but most of the time winning.

Joe? Never gone Prime for Prime with a great. There has always been some angle to make it look as if a massive match up, but it's never nothing more than a massive Hype-job.

Calzaghe has so much talent, but frankly, his Resume is quite embarrasing for a fighter of his calibre

Prime for Prime with nobody untril Trinidad.....

You could argue he beat blown-up welters and unambitious opposition like Joppy and Eastman.....Tarver and Winky were impressive though.

I agree he will stroll into the HOF...he could run Pavlik close.
