Expecting this one to be a big yawn from start to finish. It all just seems staged to me. The stare downs are pathetic, just like two mates knowing they are having our pants down by paying to watch this crap.

It smells like an exhibition to me. There is no spark, no animosity, no interest.

Get Calzaghe in with Froch, Taylor, Kessler (Rematch), Pavlik or Abraham. Not Jones. I want some decent action, not two businessmen looking to cash in another few million.

Proper fights ala Cotto/Margarito is what we need. Decent battles, not shat.

Besides Jones, Pavlik is the only other serious opponent he could face.

Why would he rematch Kessler when he beat him convincingly? I agree they're like two old pals though, and it doesn't bode well for a tear-up.

Kessler was beaten, but not that convincingly. I reckon he earned another shot.

As for Froch, that would be a huge domestic fight. Admittedly Froch is not proven at the top level, but he is a hell of a lot better than Manfredo, Ashira and some of the other turds that Calzaghe has fought.

The buzz pre Froch v Calzaghe would be amazing. Jones v Calzaghe just does not do it for me.It is a fight that has happened at least 7 years too late, perhaps more.

Kessler again - Why? He has beat him convincingly once he boxed
Froch - What has Froch done to deserve a shot at one of the top p4p in the world? He couldnt generate enough interest stateside to make enough money and lets be honest Calzaghe would be just as big if not a bigger odds on bet for this one
Tarver - Another old man with less marketability than Jones jr
Dawson - Probably a very competitive fight but outside of boxing circles, who knows his name? No-one in the UK anyway
Bute - Beat another no namer to confirm he is the best at super middle again? Yawn
Taylor - Beat by Pavlik so would hold no appeal for the fans or Joe
Pavlik - Personally I think Joe would outbox Pavlik who seems to be fairly one dimensional, "jab, jab, big right and repeat until necessary". IF pavlik beats Hopkins then I think the clamour for this fight will be even bigger and more money can be made, Joe WILL NOT turn down another massive payday. This is the fight that people believe Joe could loose, so I think this would bring out the best in Joe ad be a great last fight.

As for Jones Jr - One of the biggest names in the sport ever. A great talker with massive marketability. He looked good against Tito, even though it was a mismatch in many ways he had that characteristic Jones Jr swagger and showed some great flashes of brilliance. Watching that made me remember just how good he was. He will come forward and he will be quick - it will be a great spectacle, far better than Calzaghe v Hopkins. Yes I would be surprised if Calzaghe lost, but as long as the fight is good to watch then ill be happy that eventually I saw the fight Ive been asking for, for years

Abraham - at what weight? I haven't heard anyone else mention it and he doesn't bring cash or star quality to the table.

Neither does Froch, though I think that would be the most competitive fight out of all of them. He's a superstar in Nottingham, but that's it.

Abraham is Kelly's next opponent according to Arum in Januray or February.

Pavlik should have got the call IMO, Froch should have been second on the list and RJJ should have been about 5th ot 6th. Calzaghes looking to maximise his profits with the least risk to his O, that's why he's fighting RJJ.

Both Pavlik and Froch would stand an excellent chance of beating JC at this stage IMO. Hopefully Froch and Pavlik can remain undefeated and square off against each other in a year or so, that'd be a breathtaking fight IMO, what a clash of styles!!

What if Joe gets old overnight himself?

That's my concern PN, but only if he were to fight Pavlik. Against RJJ I think he pips it by being fresher - albeit slightly.

Spot on there doctor, If Calzaghe and Pavlik both come through i'd love to see it, and i'd fancy Joe for the win on points, then how could people slag him off ?

I'd like to see Bute (providing he gets beats Andrade) against Joe... think Bute will warrant it.

He brings less to the table than Froch and Pavlik though.....

Would never happen mate, though he is deserving of a shot. Good fighter, but too dangerous at this stage for too little reward.

Calzaghe would outbox Bute for a comfortable decision and none of the public know who Bute is, what would it do for Joe? Less money and less of a name on his record. A very uninspiring final fight.

No, I don't think Bute is a big enough name to get a fight with Joe - I just think he has the style to add to Joe's legacy more. I feel alot of experts will plump for Bute.... his style will be very awkard for Joe.

What if things start to go wrong for Joe in the fight, and RJJ turns back time and puts on a masterclass (stranger things have happened) Joe will be going back to his corner to listen to his old man effing, blinding and shouting. With no instruction !!

Anyone remember the Hopkins fight? at the end of the 9th or 10th (cant remember which) it looked like Joe was struggling and Enzo is having a fit in the corner, just shouting and screaming at him. It was Powell who then said something along the lines of 'don't just shout at him, tell him how to do it' and proceeded to give JC proper instructions. Enzo just stood back and took a gulp of water.

Am I reading too much into this??

I doubt it. Roy Jones has aged far worse than Hopkins in the ring. Hopkins, although passed it, is a worthy challenger. But RJJ... sorry.. he is finished.
