Didn't realise that Lindsay was under the banner too. Still, having seen Wale lose and Dodson come close to losing, wont have made Booth more prone to taking a risk with Haye. Fighting Barrett, Chambers or Toney all bring huge risks on top of the expected risk of fighting heavier guys in a new division.

That's all I'm saying, and if I'm wrong, and they choose one of those guys, then I'll be seriously shocked.

I think Haye decides who he's fighting, or going after. I'm sure Booth has some input, but ultimately, IMO Haye wears the trousers, so to speak.

Sounds like it's going to be Barrett, a very live opponent. According to BoxScene ( yes, not the greatest website ) but they say several sources are hinting same thing.
And DH has been watching tapes of him.

Think it could be him...no doubt he'll jump at the chance, and not make too much fuss over the cash I'd guess - he'll fancy his chances of gatecrashing the top boys, no doubt.

I know Haye worryingly still wanted Chumpman, but I reckon they put paid to that, with Booths comments about how he was afraid to get on the plane - you just can't sell a fight after comments like that, without looking a fool.

And Booth will be thinking that Barrett is not known as a big puncher.....though he hits hard enough to trouble Haye, think we know that much.

If you seriously believe that Dodson nearly getting beat has anything remotely to do with Haye's opponent selection then you do not understand boxing.
In addition, there are other fighters signed to Hayemaker who have yet to make their debut under the banner.

Let me break down what I said into something a little more easily digestible ...

Adam Booth (along with David), is tasked with finding an opponent, correct?

The soft touches within the top ten have fallen by the wayside for one reason or another. He now has to select an opponent, against the clock and pocket.

Question: Would seeing 3 out of 7 of your fighters (not including Derry), struggling in fights they should have breezed ...

A) make you more willing to take a huge gamble with the next show's matchmaking?
B) make you less inclined to choose a very risky opponent, in favour of someone who 'will do'?

That's got fu*k all to do with boxing if you read between the lines. Simple human behaviour.

If it's Barrett, like the fella above mentions, then I'm amazed. He's probably the least risky of the 3, but he's still a huge risk.

Wale was withdrawn with a nasty eye injury when ahead, and Rhodes won a wide points decision.

Given the style - I think John Ruiz would be FANTASTIC - highly ranked, highly respected, still close to his peak... doesn't punch.

Barrett for me is perfectly reasonable for a first real fight at heavy, he will come to win, and has always shown heart. Maybe if that 2 round loss to Couser wasn't on his record recently it would be better, but any heavy can get KO'd early at some point.

can you imagine Couser on here if it takes Haye more than 2 rounds.

Well it's obvious they were after a Rahman type and seriously underestimated how much they would have to pay. Still no shame in the opponent.

Frank's weekly press release would have had a go no matter who the opponent was.

I think it's going to be a great fight.

I doubt Booth's too happy about the choice though, the threat of ridicule and loss of momentum probably outweighed the risk. If Haye pulls it off and gets past Barrett in good style then they've really walked the walk after all the talk.

I'm definitely shocked though.
