Wlad won't have problems with Povetkin. Povetkin just comes forward trying to use workrate with not much of a defence or head movment. He's probably been rushed too fast on shot heavyweights too. Freshest Hw Povetkin fought could of beat him If he didn't get lazy.

Loses to valuev.. so most decent heavies would beat Mcline, lyakovich, ruiz, beck, donald, etienne, levin, vidoz... all decent heavies, no?

Povetkin. World champion kickboxer, every amateur he's lost to he avenged by subsequently beating, is currently 16-0 and wlad is suseptable to a fighter who comes forward with a high workrate! Wlad is fav due to size, but eff me, to say wlad beats anyone easy is a bold statement... brewster, purity, sanders!! Why not the amateur superstar povetkin.

Ruiz was at least robbed once and then past his best In the Valuev rematch.

Donald was pretty jobbed too and his claim to fame was Holyfield who can't win a fight above journeymen level now.

Etienne was Ko'ed by a shot Tyson and Is since In prison now and nothing special.

Vidoz Is a euro level fighter who has a lack of fitness and was Ko'ed by Gomez who Is a lumux.

Beck hasn't done a thing outside of record padding.

Valuev fought a fresh decent heavyweight and he lost, Skelton did better against Chagaev than Valuev did. He might beat Haye though since Haye Isn't the slickest and Is bulking up too much for Heavyweight and when Haye throws his right hand he bends too low as he does It too reach someone so tall and can be beat on the Inside.

Such a farce Barrett got his WBA chance against Valuev too, he was off for over a year after falling asleep against Rahman.

I don't agree about povetkin, he's been rushed and Is not ready and when he fought a fresh fighter It was the first fight he could of lost had Chambers had more disipline and workrate. Povetkin doesn't have the head movement to avoid heavy straights from Klitschko and Klitschko will just tie him up close on the Inside. He needs more than workrate, If Chambers could punch he would of hurt Povetkin

Byrd Is shot and Donald had a year off as well, his promoter has padded his record.

But it will be interesting Max, when was the last time Wlad fought a fighter who will show the same ambition that we expect from Povetkin? Peter? Brewster fight 1?

I expect Wlad to stop him if his head is right, Povetkin is too open on the way in. But I can definitely see him putting Wlad on his arse at least once and really troubling him with his come forward workrate, speed, movement and combinations, you can't forget Wlad has zero inside game and if Povetkin can get inside those straight punches he can cause trouble to the fragile Klitschko.

Also I would pick Barrett to outpoint Skelton. Not that I really wanna see Skelton in with anyone, not that he doesn't seem a nice guy and all and is doing well in his 40's but fuck he is boring to watch

Povetkin is Wlad's biggest test since Peter. Add into the mix Wlad's defence-first style now and this makes for an interesting fight. I'm hoping he reverts back to type to make this a decent battle, but you can never tell with him.

Barrett is the best available test out there.

Great matching for Haye's first big heavyweight fight. Barrett is so dangerous for a round or two with fast hands, but goes over when hit hard. It'll be exciting.

Skelton. Any fighter who loses to Valuev and Ko'ed by a journeymen most decent heavies will beat.

Solid pick for Haye, but I expected better considering how much he has hyped himself up. Barrett hasn't won any of his most significant fights. Fields was a padded journeymen with a glass jaw.
There's no guarantee that Haye will end up fighting Klitchsko anyway, he has to face Povetkin before Haye. So it could be Povetkin who Haye has to prepare for.

Guinn was a pretty significant and difficult fight at the time.

Every fighter is different. Chambers is fast, well coordinated, has a great defence. Why should Chambers have a big punch as well? Povetkin dealt with some good qualities to win a battle of unbeatens. He finds a way to win, and is technically better than you give him credit for being. IF Wlad's allowed to cheat, hold, and turn his back so the ref can save him from being worked over inside, then Wlad could well win. Povetkin has that solid look about him and I think he's going to wear Wlad out.

I can see reservations about Barrett. Not long ago, beaten by Couser. Walloped by Valuev. However, he won the Couser rematch, and can be dangerous (with decent wins as proof). As the beginning of Haye's campaign, he should do.

Which top 10 is Barrett rated by?

Barrett is a very credible opponent in my view, he went a long way against Valuev but he just wasnt big enough to handle the big man. This will be a good fight, better than that scrub JD Chapman afterall, i dont know what some of your guys problems are.

Barrett is 6th with the WBO, 24th with the WBC and not available in the WBA or IBF rankings.

Evander Holyfield started his heavyweight career against James Tillis, who is somewhat similar to Barrett, i remember after that fight it was said that Holyfield was to small to become champion.

but he ended up doing alright if i remember correctly

I think that you've got unrealistic expectations if you've got reservations on Barrett as a first opponent especially considering the people who ruled themselves out or shit themselves in the negotiations. I'm struggling to think of a better realistic opponent for Hayes first fight.

Barrett gave Owen Beck and Dominick Guinn their first losses. I've not see Fields fight, but that's a good result on paper and Monte clearly beat Joe Mesi as well (Joe got a hometowner IMO). He's 'A Prospect Killer'

He's a big, solid fella who will come to win, be strong and maybe even land one or two on Haye. It's a good choice of opponent, I can't understand anyone who says different.

YES!!

Overhand got his wish. Very good match up for a heavyweight debut, and a real good indication of Hayes potential at heavy.

Barrett= always in shape, chin gone, but a game experienced fella with decent punch power. Better keep an eye on the odds, could be another Prescott/Khan...

We should all be happy with this for a realistic heavyweight debut. Akin to Holyfield v Quick Tillis.

Funny coming from someone who thinks Carl Froch Is world class.

I am skepticle about Barrett being that good, he's never won a significant fight and when steps up falls asleep and loses badly. With all the hype talk Haye gave, I expected better and stand by that.

Any decent journeymen at domestic or American level KO's Tye Fields. Fields a worse porcelain chin than Audley.

Barrett's not even a top ten fighter, the WBO will rate anyone.

Decent opponent for a start, much better than that Bonin fella. Personally I think Haye set his standards too soon when he was looking for an opponent, I think his attack on Wlad earlier this year was an attempt to go straight for him as his next opponent but Wlad didn't take the bait.

Lets face it his opponent could have been much worse ie. one of the Brits.

If it's such a poor fight, why don't you take out a loan and put it all on a Haye win then? You'd have to be a mad man to do that, because Barrett, the first real HW Haye has met, has a good chance of upsetting the odds.

Which makes it an excellent fight for Haye to take.

I don't reckon Booth is too happy with this choice, he's been forced into an unwanted gamble I think, due to the huge TV hype surrounding his cruiserweight champ.
