Ah come on. Its Vitali K for fricks sake. A big huge lumbering stiff robotic freak in his day, now a 38 year old coming off 4 years and severe injuries.
Any solid fighter is going to beat him up. A 38 year old fatty gave him hell for 8 rds in his "prime".
Vitali wont be whipping out any sneaky uppercuts like McCline did, he'll just be getting tired and beat up.

i'd guess none.
But there is no doubt he has a punchers chance. sanders caught vitali and hurt him badly, just couldn't capitalise and peter is actually underrated imo.
still though, i think (and hope) vitali has too much for him.
I would fancy Vitali of 2004 to stop Peter. I would rank Peter below a prime Tua.

I guess you don't understand how betting works. I know the risks involved with betting on Vitali Klitschko to beat Samuel Peter. That's why I said I would put a couple of £ on if Vitali was around evens to win.
Evens on a Vitali win would be good value for money. He's actually 1/2. Which isn't a high enough risk/gain reward considering all the factors. I'm pretty sure Vitali will win. At 1/2 though it's not worth a bet for me.

NOBODY would pick Peter over the 2004 Vitali, but this isn't 2004, and its not a frickin fantasy fight, its 2008 and its happening now... In case anyone has a poor grasp on reality.

Mate, I said 'Evens? Lol' because I meant there's no way you'll get evens on Vitali. If you could, I would be putting the mortgage on.

vitali has to drop a bomb on peters chin in first 3 rounds or hell wilt away with the ref stopping the fight in around the 9th , imo the latter is most likely , i get the feeling this fight is gonna be so boring but ill still watch it

I think people have always underestimated Vitali. He's as tough as old boots, and Peter is very hittable.I think Vitali will knock him out, and do it early as well.

Younger brother always had the better skills (and an edge on power), but the more robotic Vitali has definitely been the most macho of the two, which admittedly wouldn't be very difficult. Whether that will mean he'll fare better against Peter or not, I don't know, but it'll be fun finding out. I do think somebodys going to give, and perhaps inside of six rounds.
There was a guy on here ages ago who had sparred both the Klitschkos. He said that Vitali hits harder than Wlad.

Vitali being "38 year old coming off 4 years and severe injuries." Are the factors I mentioned in my post. With these factors, which you so kindly pointed out. Are the reasons I wanted evens on a Vitali win. He's 1/2 which isn't worth it considering the factors which you pointed out.
If you really want to call me a "cocksucker". There's no need to hide behind your computer screen. I live in Bristol, Whitchurch and drink at the maes knoll most nights. You can find me in there and call me a "cocksucker" if you like.

Vitali definately had a harder punch than Wladimir - much more devil in his work and definately the hard single shot. He couldn't put them together aswell as younger brother. But overall much more dangerous cause of his psychology.

One thing you seem to be neglecting. Vitali not only has a longer reach than his brother, but has a very good uppercut, and uses it a lot unlike Wlad. Vitali is also very good at leaning backwards on the ropes and avoid punches, like he did vs Sanders and came back with counters. I really wonder how Peter will manage to land his akward overhand right on the top/back of the head against Vitali's height. Also Peter is very vulnerable to uppercuts. Why do you think Vitali had problems vs Lewis and Hoffman? yes Hoffman is not Lewis but both are very tall with long reach. Vitali doesn't like tall guys but he loves short guys and Peter is 6'1 vs 6'8

I'm down with that. Vitali hits hard, punches in bunches, and unlike 'little' bro, isn't afraid to let his hands go, as he knows he has a good chin.
Unless Vitali is terribly ring rusty, I would be surprised if this goes the distance.

Even Lewis had trouble nailing Vitali at times, Vitali knows how to use his height to good effect - he leans out of the way of punches by putting his weight on the back foot, but is still able to punch with the lead hand.
I can't wait to see him hammer fatman Peter.

yeah peter is getting it bad i think.
vitali will stand his ground more than wlad did.
i think he's in for a real bad pasting here.

Excellent news, i'll drive over to Bristol on friday night well & truly up for a ruck, rome around Maes Knoll demanding "the big sissy cocksucker" put down his sherry and show himself. I'll be the fella lumbering around with a computer screen held in front of my face.

Are you sure? I've seen virtually every fight and never ever seen him use a single uppercut. He seems to be a jab, jab, long straight right to head or body and thats his lot.

I sprayed my cookies across the office.
You deserve to be punished for that prediction though. Vitali is no Tye Fields, he knows his way round the ring. Any version of the Vitali who toughed out some brutal rounds against hard fire from Lennox will deal with this slow, immobile joker who has frauded his way to being regarded as a top heavyweight.
Even if Vitali has slowed incomprehensibly, he will still have enough to just spoil, lean and land shots at will. and we've all seen him take big shots from Lewis and Sanders, Peter has NOTHING to trouble him.

Maybe, but i think his body will give out before he wins. His body can barely take a training camp, i doubt it will hold up through a bit of the old ultra-violence with Sam Peter. I do seem to be in the minority i admit.

I think posters are not factoring in this lay-off when making their picks for this fight.
They are thinking Peter isn’t that great while Vitali was the best of a bad bunch post-Lewis and the 2003 version of Vitali would see off Sam Peter quite easily.
That may be so. May not be so either, but it is also totally irrelevant.
This is nearly 2009, and Vitali is now 37 years old.
I have never seen any sportsman that did not suffer a deterioration in athletic ability between 33 and 37 years. After 35, athletic performance generally declines quite rapidly.
Sometimes performers cam still operate effectively at a high level, by offsetting the loss of speed, and stamina, by altering their performance style, in the way that Marco Barrera has changed from a high output puncher into canny veteran, fighting in spurts.
But this is what makes this clash so intriguing, How much has Vitali got left? Can he come back at the highest level?
It is going to be very tough for him to get the timing, reflexes, stamina, punch resistance and ring-savvy required to come back, into world title level, straight away.
Has there been any examples of fighters coming back after 2+ year lay-offs and winning the heavyweight title straight away?
I’m no Vitali hater. If he can do this it will be a fantastic achievement, and full credit will be due.
I have to add that he looks really confident in his demeanour and body language too. Very relaxed.
But the bottom line for me is that the active champion should be favourite for this one, and the odds being the way they are, I am backing Samuel Peter.

Agreed. Four years ago and Vitali would have won this easily, although even then Peter would still have been a bigger challenge than any of his other post-Lewis opponents. Four years on and it's a very different story now. It remains to be seen what he has left.

But this isn't the highest level really - in any other era Peter would be firmly a B level fighter at best.
If he wasn't a beltholder, and if there were a couple of actual good fighters in the division who were, everyone would be seeing this as a solid comeback fight, a bit of a test for vitali, rather than entertain the idea that Peter might actually beat him.
IMO, Vitali is the sort of fighter intelligent enough not to step back into the ring if he didn't feel he was still capable.
