If you want to see what would happen to Haye vs Vitali, just watch Vitali vs Hide...A huge puncher from the cruisers vs a very tall strong natural HW...
But why would Vitali be anywhere near the level he was at five years ago against Lewis, particularly considering he hasn't fought in four years?
Because what usually fades with time and ring rust is rather reflexes, quickness...Vitali's deadliest weapon was simply that he knew how to use his towering 6'8 to stay away from punches, while pummeling away with relentless punching.
that's right, Vitali had fearsome power, no fear and a simple gameplan...4 years won't have taken his power away, nor his chin, all he has to do is remember how he got it done in the past.

...if his body will let him. Which is what makes it an intriguing fight.

I might just be playing Devil's Advocate here, but I don't think the Ukrainian rates Peter at all. I think he's actually a little complacent, & just might (just might mind you) overestimate what he's got left at this stage. Why I'll be watching is to see if those tendons & joints & discs will rupture/exploderise when he gets bulldozered. The opening five rounds at least will be fraught.

Anyway... Anyone else get the feeling with the heavies it's all a bit "Average fighter to meet average fighter to decide the right to fight another average fighter"? Division needs a charisma injection; it's all a bit early-80's at the mo', except without the drugs & cool hairstyles.

I wouldn't be surprised at all if Vitklit quits on his stool. Even when he had Byrd needing snookers on the scorecards he did it. I think the no tune-up fight means there is a definite problem that he's hoping won't manifest. I also think he'll then quit, win or lose.

I hope I'm wrong and that he gives Peter a mullering as I'm going, but I'm not entirely convinced.

I reckon Vitali will win as long as his body doesn't fail him, Peter's horrible and his powers overrated. Peter's Ko'es have happened when he's rabbit punched his opponent and his records padded too.

Vitali beats Peter.

By KO!

Haye should avoid Vitali imo - but he won't - Haye is a Warrior!

I back Vitali to stop Peter - you heard it here first.

Didn't Peter say something along these lines...."The Klitschko's are robots, I have more skill than them"
Haye's quote will look just as ridiculous after he gets battered into submission.

It's so much easier to say what you will do than actually doing it. How the hell is Haye going to get beyond either brothers jab? If on a few occasions he manages to get inside the jab they will simply tie up and he will once again be at distance. Anyone who thinks Haye has a snowball's chance of beating either Klitschko is living in bizarro world.

Vitali's not quick, I'd give Haye that, but you need more than speed and Vitali uses his height and reach well, making It awkward for his opponent. He has a much better chin than Haye too, Haye couldn't take a Lennox uppercut like Vitali did and still stand!

Vitali has decent timing too.

Haye's not going to be super fast either bulking up to 17st.

How then, did the mightily conditioned & ballet-dancer-quick on his feet Corrie Sanders get to both their chins, pray? Was it due to some kind of teleportation device?

The amount of over-reaction from Vitali nuthuggers is the thing generating the hate toward your idols, dude.

Just wondering if someone can correct me if I'm wrong but I can't remember Haye getting knocked down by a chin shot, he was gassed against Thompson, Mock knocked him down with a shot to the temple and I'm sure it was a shot to the temple that Mormeck floored him with.

Anyone who can land a decent punch to the chin will take Wlad out, Vitali is a different matter.

Rematch with Lewis?

Can't believe people are still throwing this around, Vitali should forget about a rematch with Lewis and concentrate on unifying the division and hopefully somebody will knock Wlads block off to prevent this "Brothers Klitschko" heavyweight champion crap.

What would beating old man Lennox prove now? He couldn't even beat an inactive unmotivated Lewis five years ago, he'd never have beaten a prime Lewis either. :box:

Lewis will not comeback, he is way over the hill, Lenox was still competitive untill he would reach 38-39, but 43 is over. Vitali will probably be out of it when he reaches 40 but if he fought Lewis tomorrow, he would win big.

I think if Haye fought Vitali, he would definitely get dropped. However, I think it's all about how many chances Haye gets. If he can survive some fire and return some of his own, it could get interesting. I think he can land more than Lewis did because his accuracy at this stage is better than in Lennox's last fight. However, we all remember how Vitali took that crunching uppercut from Lewis- how will Haye improve on that?

On reflection I think Vitali KO's Haye but I really think Haye would jump on Wladimir and take him out.

Vlad would be a very tough one for Haye but I would give him some sort of a chance. Vitali is another matter entirely. This is the real world not Rocky films where David takes on Goliath. I think these huge men are going to be quite a handful for the pumped up CW. I just cant see Haye having the same speed, but I hope I am wrong.

Right now, Vitali & Haye are the only elite fighters at heavyweight. Problem is, Haye was an elite cruiserweight and Vitali is a rare giant who can use his physical advantages without cocking things up.

The thing that bothers Vitali seems to be southpaws. Though he was beating Byrd, his left shoulder went and he quit. And he seems very uneasy about taking the southpaw power shots of Corrie Sanders - in that fight, Klitschko was atrocious.

Vitali is superb against slow, fat fighters. I want to see him defend vs Juan Carlos Gomez (as good a cruiser as Vitali is a heavy, but merely tricky at heavyweight) & unify with Valuev (if Valuev beats Chagaev).

Vitali was superb vs Sanders. Sanders fought vailliantly with all the will and guts, was extremely dangerous and aggressive, Vitali managed to keep away from Sanders's power and land flush counters all night.

Wow was i wrong about Vitali. Same old same old.

Hard to say what shot Haye has against Wlad when we haven't even seen how he deals with Barrett, but i can't see him beating Vitali in a million years. Chin, size, power, awkwardness, general toughness... Vitali is probably going to be unbeatable for the current sorry mob.

I think those jabs would have a Herbie like effect on Haye. They'll be too thudding and accurate. Haye should win a belt from someone else and then unify with Vitali.

Raff, Vitali was having near panic attacks vs Sanders! He was hyperventilating, way too tense.

Haye is a long way from a heavyweight title anyway yet, he needs to get past Barrett first and then target somebody like Sinan Samil Sam or Chagaev before either of the Klitschkos. Personally I think even now if Haye lands a quality punch on Wlad then he will spark him out but he needs to work his way towards a shot at the titles. Don't forget Evander Holyfield had six heavyweight bouts before he challenged Buster Douglas so I don't see why Haye has to rush towards a title.

Vitalais excellent at what he does and he's gonna be difficult to beat, but he bores the shit out of me with 3 punch repertoir (sp)
