There have been plenty of fighters thought of as chinny who had good careers.

I'm tired of this chin thing. If you have something to say about the Khan chin, at least take the effort to think of some fresh, interesting metaphors or analogies.

I'm tired of the hackneyed "can't build muscles on chin" yada-yada.

Makes for dull, repetitive conversation.

'Khan can still be a champ if he... A, B, C' is also very boring to keep hearing.

Don't get involved in the convo though if you find it so dull.

But come on. It's the same hoary one liners. Think of some new ones. Make it interesting.

Not a chance.

Watch how 10 fight Richard Abril handles Prescott & his power... the manufacturing process was flawed and the Khan product came out irreperably faulty.
Disagree. If Khan learned some technique, he could be great. And it's not as if he's 32. The kid still has plenty of time.

It's amazing then when Khan first started, people were talking about him being the next Floyd Mayweather, then he got 'popular' and everyone was willing him to lose, and when he did, he became a talentless tuna can.

Gowd, Awfah!

Dont get involved Carbo, this is the boxrec forum

may i remind you of the rules?

1) Ricky Hatton is a fraud and ducked Jr Witter (It is very important you post this 7 times a day)

2) Any fighter that gets stopped or in some cases, put down, is "chinny" no matter who put them down or with what punch. Its chinny, chinny, chinny. No debate, just chinny

3) "Joe Calzaghe will never get my respect until he fights... Lacy, Kessler, Hopkins and now Pavlik"

4) When unassuming. mildly talented British fighter X retires, you must bow your heads in respect and complain that it was all "boxing politics'" fault as to why he didnt get his shot at a world title. Even though said fighter got beat every time he fought above British level

and so on

Plus "all the technique in the world" would keep his chin safe. Roy Jones hardly got hit on the chin at all in his peak, when he had lightning reactions and quicksilver feet. Then when he did, he was knocked out.

But nobody's saying Jones didn't have a decent career.

Froch and Haye have punch power, but the rest don`t.

Froch is the man imo. Nice big heided type as well. Sort of bloke that you want to win, but don`t really mind seeing him come a cropper just to see how he handles it.
it depends on having a big punch if you have other skills you don't always need a KO punch, you need to have either great boxing skills like Steven Luevano, with lots of movement and variety of punch. Or be good at every department but not exceptional in any, like Tim Bradley.

Steve Molitor is another who falls into the category of cracking modern fighter who lacks a big punch.

As for any people who compared him to Floyd or Muhammad Ali, well.... there opinion doesn't merit serious discussion. HOLY CHRIST -- HE JUST BEAT DAVID 'YOUNG TYSON' BAILEY IN 1 ROUND!!! THIS BOYS THE GOODS I TELL YA!!!
Personally I've never thought Khan would go on to be an all conquering legend, in fact I've never thought that with any fighter but no way would I write off a 21 year old because of one KO defeat. Sure he doesn't have the sturdiest chin but that is a weakness he's going to have to work around with Freddie Roach, I'm waiting to see what Roach can do with him before I throw him on the scrap heap. Because lets face it if Roach can't do anything with him then I can't see anyone else doing anything with him either. Plus he'll get a much higher standard of sparring in the US so he can work on improving those reflexes and defensive moves.

What exactly has Khan done in his career to date that suggests he could be a future great?

And why do some people assume that because he is only 21 he is bound to get better? Is he significantly better now than he was at 18?

First of all I never said he could become a future great

Secondly he has now got a world class trainer in Freddie Roach who has probably forgotten more about boxing than any British trainer will ever know and at 21 years old Khan is certainly young enough to change his style, whether he will or not is a different matter personally I don't think he can but I'm not going to write him off completely just yet.

Froch will be next in the pecking order if he beats Pacsal and go onto defend.

The thing to bear in mind about the Haye and Froch is I don't think they look to go down the route of racking up 20 defences against shite challengers. Their reigns may be shorter but I should imagine the quality will be higher. Not the obscure rabble Warren lined up for Calzaghe, as an example.
I think we knew who you were hinting heavily about before you got to his name. Calzaghe had one or two shit opponents but the others were decent challenges and lets be honest he has proved ultimately he is a worthy champion.

Mitchell may get to World level. Khan,Appleby and Murray I cant see getting further than Euro. Haye stands a pretty decent chance of a World title but would get stopped by Vitali K. Froch may win a title but will lose to Kessler should they meet. Napa could win a title but holding on to it might prove difficult. I think in the next year to 18 months we will see new names to get excited about, I hope so anyway.

I probably have more faith in Haye at heavy than most here. The 'Klitschko barrier' is one of height and weight, rather than boxing fundamentals. Of course the Vitali we saw fight Lewis could've spared ten minutes from the Vegas tables to bash Haye, but his performance last week spoke of dwindling desire; and age.

Watching clips on YouTube, I kept wondering what those entrance holograms must've been thinking. Haye isn't alone in not belonging to a bygone heavyweight era.

i still can't believe how people are continuing to give amir khan a chance at world level, but there ya go.

GAHHHH, typical boxrec, some of you boxrec clowns will never learn, breidis prescot is a badass muthfukin machine, anyone woulda been sparked/hit with that shot, gahhhh...

how many times is it gonna take for khan to get brutalised before khasai/observer/carbo and the motley crue admit the guy just doesn't have what it takes?

as for the guy who compared khan to roy jones, theres nothing more that needs saying on that....

And no, I have never stepped in a boxing ring, why do you ask?

TBH Prescott would beat any of the British lightweights because Brits can't beat that type of fighter it's common knowledge.
