Yes I actually think its worse, Atkinson did use a racial epitaph to describe a lazy player, not because he hates black people, he gave plenty of black players there chance to shine under him. He thought the mic was off and made a nasty comment, but I've come across many people using racial language when they think no ones listening

I actually agree on that point, while Brand and Ross might not be everyone's cup of tea, people tend to get paid for what they are worth, the money they generate, whether the are Beckham, Buckley or asoorted film/tv stars

Does occur to me that one of two things has happened here.

1 Brand got word of her flogging her story to the papers via his agent, and so decideed to make a pre-emptive strike.

2 The whole thing is a publicity stunt wherby he agreed to make the lewd comments to boost her profile after she noshed him off.

To be fair though, did the publicity have to come at the Grand dads expense? I don't know how much of a free spirit Sachs is - but I know my gran would go ballistic if the fact her gran daughter was a glammour model made the front page. Because, this actually did happen with my nan.... basically one of her grand daughters did a PR stunt to make tabloid news and try and kick start a glamour model career..... while my nan is no celebrity, everyone knew the grand daughter and every knew they were related and my gran, being quite stiff upper lip, wouldn't go out for 6 months through embarresment.

This is potentially (as I said depends how much of a free spirit he is) doubally embarrising for Sachs - not only has Brand/Ross revealed that publically that she shagged Brand, but also indirectly revealed that she is some wannabee glammour model - and it might be something he finds hard to accept privately.

I actually disagree with you, I think Ross interviews are excellent , his irreverent style is infinitely more entertaining than the multitude of dire product placement interviews we are usuaully treated to. He also does ask some pertinent questions of his guests on occasion, and some probing ones too.

Ross is a very articulate and charming host, and if you watch his film programme(s), you get to see the best of him.

You have to accept Ian, that the days of the Parky Style interview are over, in large part they don't work because the public already know too much about the interview subjects, due to the proliferation of gossip magazines and other drear publications, and the fact that people are such media whores these days.

It used to be a real coup when Parkinson would get some big hollywood star like Gregory Peck over, because british audiences knew so little about the real person behind the icon, but that kind of interview would fall flat on it's arse today, because all the big stars are far too accessible.

Ross' style of interview suits this era, and I would challenge you to find another superior interviewer in this country who covers the entertainment industry.
