In answer to the title question, not very he will be stopped imo without a shadow of a doubt, he doesnt hit hard enough to stop cotto coming forward and he will be murdered by the power, probably end up like garry lockett

Nothing Jennings has done prepares him for Cotto - I think this fight shouldn't happen just yet. If I was the WBO I would at least make an eliminator first for Michael against someone of the ilk of Quintana or even Collazo.

With all due respect, Jennings hasn't got a prayer. It's just a question of "how" he loses.

Some of Cotto's opponents have also fallen into this catergory, so why shouldn't one of our lads get a chance of a good payday (assuming it is a bumber pay packet).

KOTV reported that this fight is set with the WBO world title up for grabs.

Cotto's would still be in top 10 P4P fighters despite the Margarito loss. Jennings gets beat up and stopped around the halfway mark imo. Good Luck Mick!

Cotto could well be a shadow of his former self after the beating Margarito handed out, I can see Jennings coming out, jabbing, moving, in & out with Miguel getting frustrated and quitting on his stool shortly after the midway point

Jennings can take this into the later rounds if he gets out of the first two. Maybe even points.

Cotto will presumably adopt the bulling forward mode, head down - interesting to see if AM has taken edge off him and whether he'll be properly prepared, motivated at the weight if he expects to walk over MJ.

I'm clutching at straws, but Michael is a very good technician, boxes well. He's stepping up two leagues here.

He can probably go a couple of rounds if Cotto's feeling generous and cautious. But as soon as Cotto wants to then he ends the fight - I see this going three rounds before Michael's corner pulls him the hell of to safety.

To be honest, Jennings doesn't even deserve that.

Quintana vs Collazo should be an eliminator contest.

Can someone please elucidate whether this is in NY or AC. I'm hearing both rumours.

I heard NYC - on a more serious note, granted Jennings has never fought in this class before, but if he can get through the first couple of rounds i can honestly see him giving Cotto trouble with his movement and crisp boxing. I just hope the occasion doesn't get to him and he warms up properly. I'll be keeping my fingers crossed.

He should be fine, Cotto. He has had a few hard fights, but not enough for him to be considered shop worn at 28/29.

You can never know after a hard lose like that though, sometimes the boxer never gets back to what they once were.

If i was Jennings i'd go for sparring someone like Hatton, get used to being under pressure for 3 minutes of a round

reckon hatton might prove quite an expensive sparing partner, will probably make do with matt hall

Yeah i know , in an ideal world Jennings would get that type of sparring. Maybe if Hatton had started a training camp then Jenning could get some sparring

I just think, us Brits tend to write off fighters a bit soon, the body is a wonderful thing and most fighters can have 3/4 wars like that and fight into their early 30's every bit as good as before (e.g. Gatti).

Yes, you can sometimes not have it mentally after a war (e.g. Barrera after the first Morales fight) but then you adapt new strategy - and Cotto is 3 dimensional enough to adapt.

Where as I have even read opinion that 24 year old Kevin Anderson might be shop worn, which for me was as rediculous as the claims that Hatton is shopworn since the age of 27 (post Tszyu).

I dunno if I agree with that Stu - Getting hit on the chin hard is going to have a negative effect, the important point being that some fighters can withstand a bit more than another. I think we can agree that Lacy was finished as a fighter after what Calzaghe did to him, and that was one fight.

Cotto was beaten up pretty badly I thought, mix in the mental issues, and he could be on the slippery slope. Cotto is also easy to hit, even when he was battering Gomez he still had his lip busted up, and that was what many perceived as being totally one sided.

I think Jennings can do himself proud here, if anything it is the lack of seasoning which is going to let him down.

michael has always been a good pro he deserves his chance,although i can`t see how his limited power will stop cotto breaking him up,if he goes 5 rounds he`ll have done great.bit worrying about the gulf in class though,you never know maybe cotto will come in badly out of shape :??
