Was checking out some results for him, and found this old one, its from 1995. in a USA v England match, quite a few names you'll know.

119 Lbs.. - Zahir Raheem, Philadelphia, PA dec. Danny Adams, 5-0

125 Lbs.. - David Burke stopped Alex Ramos, Los Angeles, CA, RSC-1

139 Lbs.. - Demarcus Corley, Washington, DC stopped Alan Vaughan, RSC-2

147 Lbs.. - Michael Jones dec. David Palac, Hamtramck, MI, 3-2

165 Lbs.. - Andrew Lowe dec. Shane Swartz, Ft. Collins, CO, 5-0

178 Lbs.. - James Branch dec. Olanda Anderson, Army, Ft. Bragg, 3-2

201 Lbs.. - Juan Cruz, San Diego, CA dec. Michael Sprott, 5-0

201+ Lbs.. - Joseph Mesi, Buffalo, NY stopped Harold Senior, RSC-1.

Team Score: USA 4 - England 4
Alan Vaughan did get stopped in this contest against chop chop Demarcus Corley who later became WBA champion another typical amateur stoppage with Alan getting caught. I watched tha fight many years ago and was a big fan of Alan Vaughan ,Not long after that Alan boxed for Great Britain vs Africa and he boxed against Stephan Carr from (south Africa) he totally dominated that contest dropping Carr a couple of times and was close to stopping him.I think the year was 1996 he retired from Boxing

Some high quality names here, and looking at how their careers progressed from this point makes you realise just how tough the pro game is. David Burke was another high quality amateur, James Branch as well.

Why do these threads always highlight the bad
The op wanted to know what he did after a boxing.

£500,000 worth of weed and a hefty jail sentence would be part of the honest answer to that question.
Ya obviously not reading recent posts about Alan Vaughan cas he just run the London marathon for (NSPCC)and achieved a lot of money for them. Also he helps out with the local boxing club in Kirkby ABC and achieved 4 national champions last season with the team he works with.
What have my achievements in boxing got to do with alan vaughan being a convicted drug dealer?

I stand by my post, the op wanted to know what alan did after boxing and i'm sure alan and fans would like to forget it but it's a pretty big deal and obviously played a big part in his life after boxing.

Vaughan is a boxer and this is a boxing forum so please dont be suprised if the bad as well as the good is discussed here. :TU:

Does anyone know what Ron and Reg Kray of Bethnal Green did when they retired from the ring? I've always wondered?

Ciggsy I wouldn't call "Olympic boxer" being sarcastic, ad say that he was stating a fact that you have copied and pasted things off google, and don't contradict yourself mate, and how do you know drug dealing played a big part in Alan Vaughan life after Boxing? Remember this is a boxing forum so shall we keep it to Boxing relations issues with resect to Alan and not his personal life after boxing - I am sure real boxing fans will be interested in this and not what local tabloids have to say

30 months for £0.5m of drugs.....i always wonder when people get such a light sentence.....

Los 2 totally understanderble 30 months for 0.5 million worth of cannibis a very light sentence but as "harry boxing" said "don't believe everything the papers say" Alan Vaughan done 11 months inside for his involvement, I think the value of the cannabis was street value, let's face it if ya had half a million pound why would he be involved with possession of cannabis. Story I heard was Alan was involved in the storage of cannibis and not dealing it.

if the drugs were recovered plus £95k cash and the guy pleaded guilty to intent to supply...you have to wonder why he only served 11 months...

Possession with intent to supply canabis is a totally different charge from supplying canabis which is why he got such a light sentence. Now coaching at kirkby abc, one of the most successful gyms in the country!

Staffo1991 that's correct, possession with intent of cannabis is a total different charge from supplying cannabis and I think it's a class c drug also, And that has reflected in the small sentence received for the offence, Cannabis would be legal if the government could claim income tax on the supply of it, like in Amsterdam. That situation was media frenzy because it was Alan Vaughan

Harry and Olympic think you have both jumped to the wrong conclusion regarding mickey 1975 and his kray line, have a closer look I'll think you'll find it was a sarcastic attempt to curb the way the thread was going. Have a look at the peacock gym armed blah thread on here and view his comments. Understandable that you would defend your pal but not ev1 is out to have a pop at vaughanie(Paul ingle called him that not me!). That he is remembered with such esteem nearly 20 yrs after his retirement despite never boxing pro to a wider audiences would be enough for me. :TU:

This is just from a personal point of view, but it is interesting to find out what happened to boxers good and bad from the past. People on here often discuss the personal lives and experiences of boxers and what they get up to once their careers are over, or even during their careers and it doesnt mean this is insulting to the boxers concerned.

I like to hear about what happened to the boxers I knew when I was active-a couple are inside, some have been inside and have turned their lives around which is inspiring, others have died, others have done very well-but it is all interesting and it is all part of the boxing story.
