Small hall promoter allegedly allegedly, that guy who had big shows in the mid-1990s, has signed James DeGale, perhaps the least likable bloke in England, as well as Frankie "What weigh-in?" Gavin and a couple of others who won't get beyond British Title level.
They will debut at NIA Birmingham on Feb21 and, you'll have to wait until Dec 8th for this, Amir Khan't will be headlining. So we will have a grant total of five bouts with farcial 25-1 odds plus maybe Nicky Cook on the card, too.
Another thing to take to the bank, "Olympic" Feb 21 card won't outsell UFC because UFC has kicked Warren's arse in every big indoor arena in the UK - mainly because Warren and the dead-heads who work for him have promotional ideas which are 109 years out of date.
UFC has a card at the 02 - that huge place in London Warren will never promote at again because he doesn't have any stars - on Feb 21 which will have over 9,000 more fans in the arena and do over 100,000s more TV viewers.
Why? Not because of boxing v UFC or any of that - but because British fight fans are voting with their switchcards and are pig sick of crappy mismatches and pathetic 25-1 main events.
If you want to see quality fights, go to UFC. If you want quality boxing, check out Froch and Haye.
The end.
Wow. A proclomation from on high.
Nice to see you are singing from the hymn sheet of your latest employer.
If you are true to your roots you should be stating that WWE is the future and that 'sports entertainment' will eclipse all real combat sports in terms of revenue and fan base.
Give it a rest wind bag.

Rob Reid vs Degale is a good debut for Degale.

He'd box Brook's head off.
Cotto will beat him by TKO, though I'll be rooting for Mick, one of the sport's good guys.
Mr Hook do you have a problem with boxer who come from sheffield because all you seem to do is slag them off.

Cotto is stalling over fighting Jennings In Atlantic City on Feb 21. Never got back to Bob Arum by the deadline accepting the fight.

Where did I slag him off? I said he'd get outboxed.
It's a point of view mate. Were your other 17 posts that paranoid?
I don's slag off all Sheffield boxers, I said Brook would get outboxed and don't rate Rhodes as highly as most. That ok?

UFC should pull as it only comes here three times a year. Try putting on shows all year round

It's been reported in Puerto Rico today that Jennings v Cotto has been confirmed for Atlantic City on February 21st. What's interesting is that there's also the Olympic show on the same date.
PPV anyone?

What Ant stated above is the same as what I've heard (except I was just told Feb, not a specific date).

TT, despite what you think of Ant personally, you should be on his side re shitty SN switches, etc, surely, after shelling out for an utterly shit bill in Brum when you thought you were getting Kell Brook?

If it's on PPV then I will be very disappointed, but it is Sports Network, so why do I expect anything different.

If he did it would be early IMO, anything past 5 and I think he'd outwork him....
....would be a good fight though, despite Brook being a twat from Sheffield

I find it hard for the general public to go for Hoya/Pacman but I can't see them going for Cotto/Jennings, even with Khan and others on the undercard. £15 is still £15, and it's a lot of money for some people.

Allegedly Miguel didn't want this fight. He wanted Jesus Karass he's a similar style fighter to Margarito.
Wouldn't Feb 21 be too early for another Khan fight?

He'll see it as a good confidence booster. You have to take into the consideration he took a belting against Margarito for the last few rounds.

I worry about Jennings in this one. He's out of his depth. The best he can hope for is a Lockett vs. Pavlik type of performance.

A pointless fight, unless Jennings is going to get paid very well. I don't think Cotto is going to be lacking in confidence at all, he knows he got beat by a monster, and will see this as a nice gentle walk in the park. Reminds me of Paul Lloyd getting chucked in with Barrera, and it didn't do him much good.

Yep, he probably won't get paid alot as its a mandatory..... just hope he catches Cotto and stuns him or something - just to make a name for himself and get more paydays.
Its Holigan vs Chavez
Foster vs Wright
Wenton vs Barrera
Lloyd vs Barrera and Austin
Locket vs Pavlik
all over again.

Lockett showed very little heart or anything else against Pavlik. Jennings can at least hope to show more than that.

Over the years we've seen Cotto v various opponents on regular Sky Sports. In the past year, we've seen Cotto-Margarito and Cotto-Mosley on Setanta. Now, to see Cotto v Jennings, we have to pay 15 quid - allegedly - to pay Khan's asking price?! WTF is going on with Sky? By this coming weekend we'll have had 3 PPVs in 3 months. In recent years, it had been one (or maybe 2) a year. Wasn't Hatton-Mayweather the only PPV in 2007? Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think even DLH-Mayweather was on regular Sky Sports in the UK. It's just getting silly now.
