Which is a pretty sizable whack of moolah, hardly a "failure" is it?
Would that be net profit? Or would it take into account the costing of the show/higher levels of advertising costs (they run more ads for PPV and print a lot of them out)?
Didn't you know that it's all free in the world of KG? The PPV licence fee, the advertising, marketing, Warren's fees, other fighter's fee, the cost of the show, all free in a big box with a red ribbon on it.

Still leaves Khan with far more that Witter had for WBC world title defences, and of course there is ticket sales, and sponsership, often bar takes as well, often good money is made on the parking!
Well exactly mate, but of course some people cant see further than their own nose, and therefore anything Khan does will be a colossal failure, whilst someone like Witter, who would give his right nut to be in Khan's position, is a huge success!!
Because Khan being on PPV is a bonus for undercard fighters who get less exposure than if it was a standard Sky show. Thus the armchair fan won't have a clue about, say, Matthew Macklin because they didn't want to shell out £14.99. Then Matthew headlines a card and low and behold hardly anyone watches it or buys tickets because they haven't seen him fight before. What a benefit for boxing.
I have no problem with PPV if it's value for money (Don't even try and argue the 06/09 one was, it wasn't) and I'm unsure whether this one is. I might buy it but the Banks drop out is a big loss for me with the GBP card now the only attraction. But an untested fighter without even a world title shot (I'd even settle for WBU!) doesn't deserve PPV. It's that simple. But it's okay KG, he's British so we should get behind him eh?!
The Khan fight was added to this date for two reasons; it's in Amir's contract to be on PPV and they weren't happy with the 6/09 sales. They felt it could've done better, thus have made sure it was the 6th to have the DLH card as the added attraction. Originally this fight was scheduled for 13th but it was rejected.
If you think it's a success I put it to you that people within the business, who know a great deal more about Boxing economics than anyone on this board, felt it was the best move to make for commerical success.
I never said these PPV's are value for money, but they are an economic success. Realistically only 250k will pay for the show in it's entirety. If they earn 500k off PPV there is 250k profit before you bring in revenue from ticket sales, sponsership, advertising, food, beer, parking and merchandise.
No we should support him because it makes him money, which is what we should be worrying about.
Would like to see how many would actually buy Khan-Fagan without 2 world title fights on the card (ok drop that one) and obviously DLH-Pac + undercard. How many would pay £15 to see a kid who got knocked out in a minute of his last fight. My guess it wouldn't be 50,000 or whatever it was.
Food and beer is made by the venue as they pay a site fee, unless it's GBP who rent the venue. They may give a percentage, but I thought that's what site fees are for.
As far as I was aware, there was no merchandise (attendees, please correct this if I'm wrong). Also, when I've been to the MEN it doesn't have it's own parking. NCP run the parking there, it's not like the O2 that has on-site.
