Just got round to watching Darrens debut and as numerous people have already said he looks ideally suited to the pro ranks in terms of style and physical attributes, hje's definately very heavy-handed which is obviously a major asset in the pro ranks.
If he's got a solid chin, if his stamina is of the required standard and if he has the dedication that's needed, then he'll go very far. Even though the fight was over in 2 minutes he didn't box eratically, he picked his punches well which is unusual for a debutant due to the nerves.
Daz is 27 years old, so there's no time for extensive padding and building of his record if he's going to be facing the best fighters whilst he's at his peak, so hopefully Sir Frank Maloney (who will undoubtedly be having an Irish Tricolour suit being tailored as we speak
) can keep him active and progress him a long at a good pace.
If Darren can get a good following behind him which he should do, as if the Irish fans can't get excited over Darren they won't get excited over anyone, then that will help Frank open doors for him and land him the right fights at the right time.
I wouldn't swap Sutherland for any of the Olympians that have turned over to the pro game over the last few years. He could well be the most successful boxer to come out of the Emerald Isle if he keeps his head down in training and his chin down in the ring * (no pressure there then 'Daz' )
