Hitman my old mucka, I'm seem to recall that for years and years you were saying that Froch wouldn't win a world title, because if his style :D

:shame: :shame:

Calzaghe has lost his mind recently, the blokes a bell end! I think boxing is on the up, now that the UK's top boxers (not Ricky) want and pursue the BIGGEST and best fights out there

So if Hatton pursues a bout with Manny he is taking the easy option, as you think he did with Mayweather, what is that all about? Manny is a tough fight, Hatton will likely take it, that hardly puts him behind Froch as one of our best and most toughest guys.
No doubting Hatton will fight the best if the MONEY is there, it's all about the £$£$££$'s with Ricky hence why I still expect the Hatton-DLH fight to happen, if Oscar doesn't retire (which he should do). If Ricky give a toss about the fans he'd have fought Junior when British Boxing was calling for it

The Witter fight debate is about as current as gas-lights and Jack the Ripper. If he takes on Manny few can grumble. If he takes on Oscar it is still a boldish move as Oscar will be up in weight again. Both bouts will be riskier than Witter-Bradley or Branco.
Hatton-Pacman is an excellent fight if that comes off, but I get the impression that Hatton would have much preferred DLH to win on Saturday though.

Going on DLH's performance on Saturday the Hatton fight would be akin to Calzaghe-RJJ and would Hatton have to go above 147 for it as that weight didn't seem to suit DLH. It's a cynically made match IMO that's solely made for the money. Whichever way the result goes it's meaningless imo

To be honest though, as I said on another thread - the "seniors" tour - Hopkins, Joe, Barrera, Oscar, Shane, etc... they are still amongst the best around (well Oscar was untill last weekend).

Barrera didn't do too shabily vs Manny/JMM - and could still beat most of the champions and challengers out there.

Hopkins just anhilated the so called next dominant champ, and Joe in 2006 smashed Lacy, Shane did well against Cotto.

So they do fight the young talent, and they are not getting "recycled" cause they are either winning or doing very well in defeat and warrant another title shot.

I'll take Froch's career path and world championship glory any day of the week.

Joe can shove his 20 defences where the sun don't shine...and while he's at it he can poke SN's head man up there too.

Quite right - why anyone would be mentioning Witter at this juncture is beyond me.

It is rediculous for Witter to be mentioned, the guy just lost his last meaningful bout.

As for Hatton vs DLH - well for it not to be considered meaningless it should be at 154 and ideally Oscar had one fight before, maybe against Forrest - to show it was more weight than age

Oscar fights any of the elite at 147, then he is in for a kicking and its going to be a hard sell.

I've not mentioned Witter as a prospective opponent. I was just referring to Hattons past avoidance of Witter and Hattons desire for money rather than legacy

not fighting witter will not hurt his legacy one bit
It should do, especially in the UK. You can't run and hide from your BIGGEST rival in the UK for 8 years and it not affect how he is percieved

I am a massive Hatton fan but I am still disappointed that a Witter fight didn't happen. Just because Junior lost to Bradley doesn't justify why these men didn't fight. I am also fully aware that Junior would've happily fought Hatton, whereas I can't say the same for Hatton.

Some people are masochists that's why.

Why anyone wants to watch a dreary Hopkins hugfest again is beyond me.
Because many had Hopkins winning.
If Hopkins actually threw more punches then he would have won wouldn't he? But no he spent most of the fight hugging, I bet 90% of clinches were initiated by Hopkins.
[/quote]

Hopkins threw enough punches to Knockdown Calzaghe and cut and bruise his face didn't he?
Calzaghe did not manage to throw enough 'slaps' to cause any marks on Hopkins' face.

I wouldn't mind seeing Calzaghe/Hopkins II in Cardiff for Joe's last fight. Bernard deserves a crack at Joe again after what he did to Pavlik, and not forgetting, I had Hopkins beating Joe by one or two points. I also enjoyed their fight fight, granted it wasn't a Cotto/Margarito or Hameed/Kelly but in its own way it was incredibly interesting. Hopkins' masterfully skilled defence against Joe's barrages and aggression - that fight could've been scored a lot of ways. Furthermore, it'll be a good goodbye in Cardiff for Joe if it happened, but like I have said in another thread, I think we won't see Joe in a ring again.

I think it's a good fight, but no way would joe offer Hopkins a rematch after he looked so reinvigorated against Pavlik - and of course, he doesn't 'do' rematches, unless they are against piss poor WBO 4-yearly mandatories.

I get what your saying Chambers and i fully agree with you. Hatton should have took the fight to prove himself at the time.

Haye didn't need to fight Enzo. But he swept him away so people never had the chance to have this very same conversation about them both.

Now hes going on to bigger and better things.

Hatton should have fought Witter before Kostya, got it out of the way and done us all who wanted to see it at the time a good turn.

I'm glad Calzaghe is going, one of the most boring fighters I've ever seen. Who the hell wants to watch his DVD?

The reason boxing is 'dying' is because of fighters like Calzaghe fighting bums and over-the-hill fighters.

Oh, and stop going on about legacies, its bloody boring!

if you are a british fighter, and are undefeated, you havent fought good enough competition. if you havent fought 5 fighters in a row who are sure fire hall of famers,in their primes, you havent fought anybody.but if you lose, you were overhyped and never that good any way.if you are blunt,it means your a prick.but if your nice,it means you arent genuine. if you are careful and a strategist, you are boring.but if you are exciting and willing to trade, everyone will beat you once you fight the next in line who can punch.

far be it from me be condescending or anything, but damnit, what is good enough for you people?:S i mean,Calzaghe is/was an awesome fighter, and yeah,he could have fought a few better fighters then he did at times.....still,his resume is pretty impressive, imo.sure,it seems a bit sleazy to be like:"ok,ive made my money, see you guys, and oh,by the way, everything is turning to shit now that im gone" but some of the comments here are ridiculous,imo...

Hatton is the same,im not his biggest fan,but the guy is taking on the best he can, only lost once to the very best......and now a fight with Manny wouldnt be any good cause hes ducking frigging Witter?!?!?! are some of you people just kidding around?:S

just seems the top guys cant win with british fans,no offense intended.

if they do well, they arent tough enough, the moment they lose, well we're all happy cause he was a fraud anyways.it's never good enough until its bad.

i do believe my mother was secretly british though,i may have just had a breakthrough here.
