Gough would be good for motivation thats for sure!! I actually think we have very good chance of beating Australia as they are on the wane.
I think we stand a good chance in the Ashes but I fear that if Oz can find a bit of form, we're toast. They're short of a decent spinner (they obviously don't want to stick with Krezja and the jury's out on Hauritz), a quality seamer (though Siddle had a good game in the last test) and an opener (unless Hayden can remember how to bat).
There is no way that any team can simply replace the likes of Warne, McGrath and Gilchrist but I wouldn't put is past them to beat South Africa in their return rubber before the Ashes.
