I just watched this fight, unbelievable. When i heard that scoring was on rounds and not points i thought maybe thats why the decision looked bad, but i only gave snipes two rounds out of ten, and they were close rounds. I think if that fight was scored on ten points Coetzee would (should) have won it 98-87.

Larry Holmes v Renaldo Snipes. I am starting to get really pissed off with Howard Cosell. When I start watching an old fight now I get nervous waiting to find out if i'm going to get Cosell or Dunphy.
If it's Dunphy i feel like throwing a party or something. Young Leonard is pretty good too, and I thought Ryan O'Neal did a good job with Dokes v Weaver II. Would have liked to hear more from him.

Just watched Mathis-Chuvalo.
Good brawl to start with, but was all mathis who moved good.

Before that the last I watched was Noron-Zannon.
Zannon made Norton look average early, then Norton caught up
with some hard shots, that always seem to be the answer to
Zannon's early leads. Got to love Zannons baldman mullet look.

Someone mentioned Berbick being robbed against Holmes. Since cult of Holmes remains a mystery to me and since I'd never seen the fight, I rounded up a copy to watch.

Robbed way too strong. Noteworthy that Berbick was relatively untested in his first ever US bout and he gave as good as he got. Holmes couldn't put a dent in his strength or activity level and was a sucker for his right hands to the body all night. The crowd was pro Berbick such that Don King tried to lead the cheers for Larry unsuccessfully, so Larry ended up leading the cheers for Berbick when he wasn't shoving him after the bell.

Also the announcers referred to Mills Lane as Padilla and Mills goes down in the bout after Berbick brushed him aside to approach the retreating Holmes who had shoved him after the bell.

Berbick had never been over 10 rds in his short career and Holmes in the middle of his "prime" was completely finished by fight's end after a strong start by Berbick in the 15th and having to go toe to toe with him the last minute in case the scoring was close. The old axiom that you have to take the title away from the champ applies here since judges gave Larry all my even rounds, heavily tipping the bout in his favor, not a single favor for Berbick save Mills "Padilla" not DQing Berbick for accidentally dropping him.

Mike Tyson v Tony Tucker.
Very interesting, Tucker clearly had no fear of Mike and had a plan too.
I can well believe that Tucker's hand was broken, by the way he seemed to abandon a strategy that was giving him the upper hand. Just found out it is supposed to have happened in the fourth, so i'm going to rewatch with that in mind.

Stewart ran Moorer a merry chase. The only man to do so at Light-Heavy.

Same here, thats why it took me so long to get to watch it.
I downloaded the segments off youtube and watch them at my leisure (which means finding a dark hole during work). Youtube is great for i-pod viewers because the low resolution is ideal for the ipod screen size.

Only a problem if you are completely finished before the fight ends, clown, like your man Cooney was.

Let me ask --- did you feel the cut hindered Benitez? Was it a factor, in your view?
