Ricky Hatton's lawyer has admitted that the Manchester fighter's proposed contest with Manny Pacquiao, slated for 2 May in Las Vegas, is under threat.
Gareth Williams said promoter Bob Arum originally agreed to a 50-50 split of the proceeds, but Pacquiao was now insisting on 60-40.
"Ricky brings as much to the table as Manny," Williams told BBC Sport.
"Either it is 50-50 or we'll consider other options. If that's Manny's position, there is no fight."
Williams added that Hatton could take legal action if the fight does not take place.
"Our own view is that a fight will take place on a 50-50 basis as per the agreement," said Williams.
"But if we are formally told it won't take place on that basis we'll consider our legal options because as far as we're concerned we've got a binding contract.
"We got a verbal deal at 50-50 - everything's moved on on that basis. We were told Bob Arum had the full rights to negotiate on behalf of Pacquiao."
Unbeaten American Floyd Mayweather Jr could come out of retirement and fight Pacquiao if the Filipino superstar's fight with Hatton falls through.
Mayweather became the first man to beat Hatton in December 2007, but Williams questioned whether Pacquiao-Mayweather would be as lucrative as Pacquiao-Hatton.
"I can't see where Pacquiao's coming from because without Ricky Hatton, what's he going to do?" said Williams.
"He's not going to be involved in a fight that will generate the same income as fighting Ricky Hatton.
"A fight with Mayweather won't generate the same money because Hatton brings all his fans and UK TV money.
"There's only so much you get out of a fight in America in terms of gate, and you're not going to get any more out of a Pacquiao-Mayweather fight than for a Pacquiao-Hatton fight.
"And when Hatton fought Mayweather, the crowd was predominately Hatton fans, and when Pacquiao fought Oscar de la Hoya, the crowd were mainly De la Hoya fans.
"Manny is massive in the Philippines, but thousands of Filipinos aren't going to travel to Las Vegas or pay £15 a head to watch it on pay-per-view.
"Do they honestly believe Pacquiao-Mayweather is going to do significantly more pay-per-view figures than a Pacquiao-Hatton fight? I don't think it will.
"But the ball's in their court. We think we're being reasonable and we're not going to be messed about."
If negotiations for Hatton-Pacquiao do collapse, Williams said Hatton would most likely fight in the UK in the summer instead.
It's not sounding good

Hatton is lucky he is getting the fight - its based on having 20k fans following him and not much to do with much else.
Personally I would rather see PBF vs Pacman.
2 fighters that are really lightweighs.
FYI PBF walsk arond at 10st 10lbs and don't tell me he can't lose the weight to get to Lightweight- he chooses not to.

Oh dear, this doesn't sound good.
Pacquaio is surely the bigger PPV star in the states without a doubt - and with the fight being in the US, how many fans can Hatton bring with him?
If it was in the UK - different story, Hatton would be able to bring all the bums on seats, but in the US, he just ain't big enough to get Parity.

That said, Hattion will surely do his bit for publicity. Pac doesn't seem to speak that good English etc.
I don't think Pac is going to do anything rash i.e. "Ah fvck it, I'll just fight Margarito."
I'm sure they'll negotiate something.

Its usual for both sides to demand more than they expect at this early stage.
Both guys will earn double the amount fighting each other than they would fighting anybody else in the division aside from mayweather .. and
money mayweather would demand something like a 70/30 split in his favour anyway.
It probably will come down to a 50/50 split by the time they divide the tv rights etc.

Manny people think Hatton has a good shot at beating Pacman, but its deceiving. Malignaggi fought so horrible from the start that it really made Hatton look better than he is. Hatton is a tough cookie and more of a bully than a finess boxer. Marquez posed problems to Pacman because he is a refined boxer with extreme skill.
Hatton has just too much weaknesses in his defense and lacks the chin to withstand to Pacman"s relentless assault with his superhuman speed. Moreover the fight will happen at 140 which will favor Pacquiao who is really at his right weight there. Pacman won't even have a reach problem as Hatton is very short. Hatton is not a real puncher and can't knock manny on 1 punch. Truely I don't see any way Hatton can win this.

Yes and no : Hatton had his best nights at 140 yet he always struggles to make the weight. I was really worried by how tired he looked in the late rounds in certain fights, and how bad he was rocked by Lazcano. I just don't see him sustain Pacman"s punishment for 12 rounds. For manny its a bit like when Mayweather beefed up to 151 for DLH then went back to 147 for Hatton.

As Buncey said; 50 / 50 is a fair split. Manny brings the gihgh rollers, Ricky bring the masses with lower revenues.
As Arum has already said it's gonna happen this week, it's gonna happen. Just usual contract politics.

Do me a favour, please watch that fight again, and then, watch it another time. Hatton is literally buzzed for a split-second twice in that fight. He wasn't "badly rocked" at all, and to say otherwise is just a complete joke. No offence intended.

Theres not a bigger money, more winnable fight for either fighter. Perhaps Pacquaio could make similar money against FMJ, but its a harder fight.
