cant see FW gettin in the way of this
i think he'd rather khan faced murray than prescott again
defo an easier way for khan to redeem the loss if murray was too win

I always thought Romanov was the best opponent for Murray. Thaxton to get Murray from domestic to Euro level (however Thaxton is on his own great little run, has his own ideas what he wants to do). Then Romanov as a bridge from Euro to world (Romanov former EBU king, ranked #10 in the world by ring mag, poss WBA title shot forthcoming).
After seeing how Earl backed up an admittedly off form Romanov... Back him up and he's well out of sorts, and like many Europeans, he has class but doesn't like to work at a pace.

If Meaty Mick pulls it off then great news.
The reason why I question whether the fight will happen or not is down to Mr W arren.
If W arren has Prescott on "options" after the Khan fight - I just can't see him releasing Prescott so his rival promoter (Hennessy) can score points on him?
"Boxing Politics" could stop this fight from happening.

Great matchup, but are they really considering it? It's risky for a come forward fighter like Murray, when we don't know exactly how hard the other guy hits - he looked a serious puncher in the brief time we saw him - but then so did Kiko Martinez, and Munroe really cashed in there.
It's a similar matchup to Munroe/Martinez in way, in that it's another Brit prospect being lined up with a supposed big puncher, who's just done a local top prospect.
Does Prescott have a good ranking then? I can't see much point in Mick taking the risk otherwise. No way Khan will be giving him a look in if he beats Barrera.

Arena Box have been saying that they had signed Prescott before the Khan fight so we will see. Hope they did.
I don't know what Warren can do to physically stop a Prescott-Murray fight. I'm not very up on legal stuff - wouldn't he do something AFTER such a fight i.e. sue for damages/loss of earnings. Who would be accountable - Prescott's promoter, the promoters of the US show (presumably DiBella and Hennessy) - would any of the broadcasters cop for it as well?

If this happens then it'll be an amazing coup for Hennessy Sports. Obviously, if Murray did beat Prescott, which I fancy him to do, then that's an even bigger embarrassment for Khan and Sports Network. It's would also give us a direct comparison between Khan and Murray.

Not sure where it started that Murray-Prescott would be part of Froch-Taylor undercard...The feeling from those near to Murray, is that Murray-v Prescott is main event material. That if it was an undercard to froch-Taylor, there'd be no money for anyone else.

Neither fight happening but if this one comes off prescott by ko
Distinctly unimpressed ith Murray tbh. If he had been a SN fighter I tihnk he would have been critiscised for the amount of civil servants he has fought in his carreer
Exactly what is the reason why thaxton and murray can't get it on

Well he wasn't impressive vs Hamidi and Munguia. But his 3 title fights - English, and 2 British - he's been impressive, breaking down Meager, Hickman and McAllister in confident, methodical fashion. He had to wait quite along time to get his chance - I'm sure Murray would have liked to step up sooner.
I think because Froch-Taylor and Murray-Prescott rumours started at the same time, that ppl thought it might be the same card. But this seems unlikely to happen. Prescott is a big fight, a risky fight, and from someone closer to the situation, it doesn't belong on an undercard, it's a headliner.

A nagging feeling says that Murray takes too many shots to survive against a puncher like Prescott. Against McAllister he was able to wear his man down mentally and physically but still took a few bashes on the way in, by a relative non-puncher. He simply could not afford to ship the same level of blows against Prescott or it would be lights out and I'm not convinced he can fight any other way.

Good one Showtime then. This could be a superb fight. I really hope everything works out and the contracts get signed. I've been patiently waiting to see Prescott since he walked over Khan.

Murray has never let anyone down when going into title fights, or fights that he is up for, Bredis can punch, should be a stonkfest.
John will not take it for chump change, though, as he is not a DeGale or Khan, he had no huge signing fee, no one did him any favours, and, unlike Hatton/Paccers, he is not in the position to squabble over how much of a % of a huge amount he deserves, he just wants the risk (travelling to take the fight) to be balanced in terms of a financial award.
If the money is sorted Joe Gallagher tells me that they have no doubts about going over there and beating Prescott, a win that Gallagher feels will propel John beyond Amir.
Failing that they plan to fight Erik Morales, at catchweight. Once Erik has aged a little bit more, and if he has been recently cut, and fallen off a motorbike. If Morales can be carried to the ring, then they are ready to fight him.
Genuinely quality post mate. I also think some people are over rating Prescotts power. I think it had more to do with Khans lack of a chin. I would expect John to get as close to him as possible and cause him real problems - his punch is effective when people stand off him but if someone gets inside?? A Different story. Although Khan has so much ability it's frightening and would give Murray real trouble, but i would back John to beat him or Prescott. The toughest fight for Murray and the one that will probably happen is John Thaxton.

Prescott possiblygets schooled at world level by a canny opperator, when it comes to taking the fight to him he looks to be a Tommy Hearns, and Murray ain't no Ray Leonard, he deserved the loss to Hamidi after all
Why aren't Thaxton-Murray fighting anyway?

Remember when Benn went after old Eubank opponents like Malinga with the tag 'Anything Eu can do'?
This could be 'Prescott Khan bang: Can Murray take it?'
sorry best I could do

Anything you Khan do, I can do better.
*shrugs* I gave it a shot.

I presume this could be pencilled for the Froch v Taylor undercard then if it's ST?
May have to make the effort if it is.

He was life and death with Hamidi... but he's got a shot at Prescott?
He has zero chance. He will get KO'd if this comes off. There is no comparison between Martinez and Prescott other than their signature wins coming within a round. I predicted Martinez would lose to Munroe, he just didn't look that good, Prescott on the other hand, looks like an absolute monster for anyone other than a defensive spoiler with a granite chin.

The Hamidi fight means nothing. It was a spoiling match, nothing else. At a time when Murray was severely off the boil. He didn't know who he was fighting til the morning of the fight and by that point the novelty had worn off having short notice opponents (though Murray had trained for Fewkes).
Look at the McAllister fight. Lee wanted to win, he threw punches, tried to win the rounds. As such, there were opportunities to land shots. It was a fight. The Scotsman was fairly big at lightweight, very fast, mobile. And Murray ground him down, did the job, got the result. Murray had something to fight for, was up for it, and delivered v a difficult foe. And can improve from this.
Surely if you and others are going to judge him just by one below par performance, surely you should consider the McAllister fight. At the time of the Hamidi fight, critics were saying Murray would have lost to Fewkes badly. Now surely in lieu of Fewkes' form, and Murray's form - TKOs of Meager and McAllister - it looks as though Murray would have beaten the Yorkshireman up..."Murray can't beat a mover" has been the charge, when he obviously can now.
As to Prescott. All we know if he has some power. Can he KO Murray? Who knows. Can Prescott be good for 12 rds, does he have the workrate, the endurance, can he take body shots from a very strong lightweight who knows how to deliver shots that bust ppl up and break them down. Most ppl have seen but one round of Prescott. What does 1 round tell anyone? Joe Mesi was the future of heavyweight based on one round.

I think the Froch and Murray rumoured fights are planned for different dates.

Prescott's fighting Humberto Toledo this month i think. We'll all get to see more of him then. Toledo is tough but has had hard times, being stopped by Humberto Soto and one of those massive Peterson brothers. (it's hard to tell the Petersons apart, same build, same style, almost same weight, and on same card BOTH took on a Humberto Soto victim...)
Then Prescott and Yuriorkis Gamboa are on Showtime April 3. This must be the potenail slot for Murray. I think The Showtime date for Froch-Taylor is Apr 25th.
If Murray and Froch get these fights AND win, that will be outstanding.

Pauluus Moses slipped my mind completely! Doing copies for you and Joe this week, apologies.
Cheers, no problem. It's hard to find Moses fights. Now, if Murray were gunning for Moses or Humberto Soto, then I would worry that it's a bit premature as they are hard bastards with some experience.
As you remark re Prescott's build, he looks like he could fall apart under some pressure. Unless he's like the freakishly tough super bantam Cel Caballero.
