A good point there (although I expect it is somewhat tounge in cheek.)
We all like Jennings- a nice guy, a likeable and talented Lancashire fighter (I live near Chorley- so big support for him.)
But from a "neutral" perspective, this is most likely to be a very one sided fight.

I think a lot of this has to do with a certain British promoter who is wanting his slice of the pie also as he's a greedy barstard

The more boxing on our screens the better - so if we can get Cotto and Jennings on our screens lets do it!!!
However I find it ironic that "Boxing Tw*t" rips f*ck out of Fight Academy and Dennis Hobson for the Muriqi and Woods fight not being shown - but of course this is different isn't it Boxing Tw*t??

- so whats different here Boxing Tw*t why can't your fabulous promoter get this fight on our screens? - surely he has the admiration and respect of all ?? - surely he can pull strings that others can't??

Lets be civilised now ........
You put forward a decent question, but maybe it could have been rephrased

To be honest I couldn't care less about this fight being shown or not or the Pavlik one for that matter and I'd be stunned if either went more than 3 rounds. May sound harsh but it's the truth.

A lot of ppl assumed it was FW stopping the Jennings fight being shown. So who is the villain of this story? Top Rank, or Warren, or Setanta?

Make him sit through a repeat of last weeks Friday fight night.
I wouldn't wish that one anyone.

Why on earth do you think that Boxingchat is on about this, simple its a case of take Cotto/Jennings and you take the Olympians on the 28th as well. Its a package and comes together.
Bloody good job to setanta in saying B******s Frank paid too much for them so work it out yourself son
Nonsense, as usual the only people that suffer are the boxing fans
We are used to it, work it out frankie
Spot on post all the way through, it sounds like Frankybabes is trying to hold Setanta to ransom and as usual it's the fans that lose out

Someone from Sports Network posting this? Singularly the most funny post I've ever seen on here...for all the wrong reasons.
I don't know whether to laugh or spew up.

I'm with Ian on this, the irony of this thread is well, almost beyond belief.
As far as I can ascertain:
Setanta have a contract to show Top Rank fights for 3 years.
Michael Jennings is a allegedly fighter.
So either, a) the Top Rank contract excludes fights involving British fighters (as they (Jennings) will likely have individual contracts (allegedly) which stipulate control of UK television).
Or b) Top Rank are asking for more money, because the bout features a British fighter.
If its a) allegedly will likely want to be paid, and Setanta cannot afford it because either 1) they're skint or 2) FW is deliberatley aiming high in order to 3) use the leverage to get legal wrangles dropped 4) get a new contract for Olympians on Setanta or 5) just show who is the daddy of British boxing.
If its b) Setanta are just skint as the number of subscribers cancelling rises through lost football and credit crunch or are arguing the legal toss over the contract rather than succumb to the witch hunt some are trying to initiate.

I doubt Setanata will want to buy Olympians. They got good boxing contract anyway. Its been prevented as he controls uk v rights. His Olympians might end up on Bravo that would be funny.

Setanta Sports are delighted to announce that we have reached agreement with Sports Network to secure the rights for Michael Jennings's WBO world welterweight title bout with Miguel Cotto.
The biggest fight of the Chorley fighter's life at Madison Square Garden in New York against the Puerto Rican idol forms part of a massive double-header for boxing fans with Kelly Pavlik's contest with Marco Antonio Rubio also being screened on Setanta this weekend.
It had been reported in some areas of the media that Sports Network were unwilling to conclude negotiations but this was never the case, it has just taken some time to reach agreement over the rights to the fight.
We apologise for the confusion over the Jennings-Cotto bout but have tried to keep our viewers informed of the developments and are delighted that the matter has reached a positive conclusion at this late stage
