Agreed. If he could get a few fights in NY or Boston against the likes of Ray Austin, Eddie Chambers, Kevin Johnson etc. - all of whom are world-ranked, American, owners of pretty looking records, and beatable, he'd probably earn himself some very nice paydays as well as a title shot.

a fight against Danny Williams in belfast would be good. Williams still has a reputation and obviously has the power to potentially beat him but Rogan should win.

there is also Michael Sprott.

If he beats them, then he deserves a big one.

Skelton won the Vacant EBU title and therefore was not allowed a voluntary.

Bit of an anti-climax after names like Brewster and even Skelton(again) were being mentioned.

It's a keep busy victory for Rogan on home soil.
He deserves it, although it won't do anything for his ranking.

Beating a fella with an 11-1 record within a couple of months of beating Skelton, wont do his ranking any harm either.

Keeping busy, hey, its the new black. Some of the big names could do worse than follow suit.

Skelton was top 20 when Rogan beat him, Sexton ain't even top 250!

Agreed. At his age, pretty much every fight should be moving him forwards if he wants to earn a money-spinning WT shot. But perhaps they've set their sights a little lower, and hope to make money in Ireland against slightly lower opposition? Nothing wrong with that of course - Martin seems like a top fella, and noone would begrudge him making hay while the sun's shining, I'm sure.

I don't understand this it does nothing to progress rogan, I doubt this is rogans decision he wants to take a step forward at every stage and right now he is as popular as he is going to be and at 37 he is quite old although he is a relatively fresh fighter.

I agree with the criticisms, plus I think this is a winnable fight for Sexton, had Skelton and Harrison fought with their brains - they would have done. The maturity Sexton used when winning prizefighter, shows that maybe he could fight with his brain.

I maintain McBride would have been a good fight for Rogan. OK, McBride doesn't have a ranking and in all reality is probably not better than Sexton, but he's a marquee name on both sides of the Atlantic and it would have been huge for Ireland.

This is a nice little pause and take stock bout for Rogan, give the Irish a new look at him against a game fresh opponent with a pretty record and a Prizefighter angle.

From there, he can see how the all the world picture looks following the spring work-outs and perhaps look for a beatable name opponent.

How big a pay-day would Holyfield be in Ireland if Rogan has mobilised a fan-base over there, just for example.

Rogan might not need a title shot for a big pay-day.

If Frank could've got it, Holyfield would've been a dream. I don't like this Sexton fight for Rogan - he's in against a very good boxer who's improving a lot. Plus, his record of 11-1 isn't special. I think this is a big risk/low record scenario.
