- A myth. They were very good friends coming up through the ranks together as well as spar mates. That was strictly Gorgeous George stuff by Ali.
I prefer the accepted version of events rather than your, as usual, unsubstantiated revisionism.

Ali seemed genuinely angry with Terrell and gave him a severe and sustained thumping which wasn't his normal M.O.

Spin it for me a bit more, BRR.

- Ah, hah, now we know who's sporting the Cosell toupee recently scarfed up on EBay.

Perfect comedic state of balance your in. Yeah, let's forget all the affection Ali had for Floyd out of the ring and ignore the affliction Ali handed in the ring by holding Floyd's broken back up so he could punish him.

Here's Ali's out of da' shadow brother coming out from behind the dark side of the moon with the mother ship to come and visit us: http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=w ... E-g9Q5-Ujw

That's OK Colly, folks need to believe in something, even a loony doggerel poet who could box with some flash and loved to spin a good faerye tayle.

Okay, then, what's the source for your statement that Ali and Terrell were "very good friends coming up through the ranks together as well as spar mates"?

- Oh, I'm sure one of you gents can sift through the dozen squared Ali bios published to find plenty of Terrell interviews detailing his relationship.

I prefer to believe mine own eyes, and I saw them in a amicable private setting days before the fight.

Pretty sure Mitch Green & Tyson didn't have much time for each other. I mean, lets face it, if you end up with a face like Green ended up with after trying to bring it to Tyson in the street you cannot be liked by Iron Mike!

I'm surprised Green didn't suffer a broken jaw. Mind you, the damage that was actually done was bad enough. It looks like Green has two faces!

Ali tried to do the same with Wepner, but Wepner refused to call him the N word that only the elitely hued folk are allowed to use in polite company these days. Chuckles also refused to brawl at the press conferences, preferring to laugh and joke which was what the whole act by Ali really was.

Pretty good act from Wepner then, eh?

Yeah not many genuine grudge matches there, more a case of one fighter hating the other.

Kaylor v Christie, as mentioned was a true grudge match though.

Bruce Curry and Monroe Brooks. Had a tiff going over some chick I believe. Also, Terry McGovern and Young Corbett, although I believe most of the bad blood was caused by Corbett who went out of his way to rile McGovern into making mistakes. Also, if it hasn't been mentioned, Mancini and Haugen.

Scartissue

Don't know if they hated each other, but Greg Page and Gerry Cooney had a strong dislike when they were top contenders.

From the Old-Timers: Tommy Ryan and Kid McCoy genuinely hated one another, and reportedly would fight in the street, bar, anywhere at the sight of one another.

Jack Johnson and the white race

Also, I am sure it has been mentioned, but De La Hoya and Vargas had real hate for one another.

I dont know if you could say Johnson hated the white race.

I do not see how he did anything that suggested he hated
'whites'.

James J Corbett, James J Jeffries, Tommy Burns and the
writer Jack London and a good chunk of the white American
public seemed to hate Johnson and what he stood for.
