Any person who has any degree of boxing knowledge should accept that the cut was a severe hindrance - The blood was running straight into his eye, turning Barrera into a one eyed fighter.

It's a mystery why some people feel that isn't fact, and didn't affect the fight in anyway.

Khan to me looked to have his guard up higher, and chin down more, but as usual when he opens up he is wide open.

There was a slight improvement from Khan, but I have never argued against his speed, size and stamina, so the improvements are little.

The fight left a bitter taste in my mouth, and something was suss with the whole thing in my opinion. I was one of the ones who picked Khan for an easy decision, and that was the way it was heading without the cut.

Khan lacks power at world level too.

I wish him well, but every fight seems to be asking the same questions.

Obviously the cut was a huge hindrance and killed the fight as an even contest. And also Khan will not have proved that he can take a punch.
However, you have to go by what Khan did show in the five rounds. And what he did show was a lot of maturity, he didn't get carried away when he saw the blood, he kept boxing and landed some good fast shots, totally maximising his advantages in size and speed. I am not saying Khan is now the best in the world, but two fights on from Prescott, that was a really good performance. His confidence could have been smashed to bits after Prescott, but he took a big challenge and came through. And the cut was not Khan's fault, let's not forget.

Yeah but you're missing the point Gobbles, Khan showed slight improvement because nothing was coming back from Barrera.

Basically Khan could put into practice what he had been training in the gym, quite safe in the knowledge that Barrera was offensively not going to be a problem (due to the cut)

We need to see what he's like with a fighter who can see out of two eyes before we start saying he has re-invented himself and has made huge improvements.

Oh and someone form the same weight class and not worn out too.

Excatly my point , how many who have never had a fight, and never will, look awsome, in the gym hitting the bag, but can't box, and the comparason here, is that with one eye, he could'nt see out off it enabled Khan too look a lot better , just because he held his hands high , don't mean he is all off a sudden a world champion .

Don't know about anyone else , well i'm sure theres a lot on the forum have been there has well but i know i've been in that position , with a bad cut blood in the eye, ect, ect,and it DOES MAKE A DIFFERENCE,
Gobbles regarding the Aussie kid Lenny Saravigni or whatever the spelling is , I'm telling you i watched the fight the kid can make lightweight but he done something not many have ever done and thats totally owned St Clai,r he did'nt beat him he gave him a hiding , It won't happen, but i would love too see him in with Khan, because he throws hooks with wicked intention , your right he has been beat in the ameteurs but has a pro this kid is one too watch , He's like Kasidas only better .

For me these are the guys Khan should be fighting and beating now in prep for the big guns . Kasidas would be a good test but if he can't beat him well find a new horse too back

Surely Khan would not leave now that Mr W arren got him MAB and in addition is promising a world title shot ?

no he wont leave warrne. as warren has to deliver to khan ans money as well. PPV contract etc..
He ha simproves quite a bit .but this fight has not still shown me what kahn has learnt .i mean fagan was not a big hitter and MAB had blood in one eye so no chance of khan really showing his ability. we have to see when he faces a top LW who has fast hand speed like he does and see how it goes.he is going to get ko'd when he faces guzman or diaz.

how about the headbutt made Barrera look bad? did you even see how much blood Barrera had on his face? and from round 1?

Its so easy 2 look good against some1 with 1 eye and yes it should of been stopped in the 2nd or not a toll

I think the fourth was really the telling point. With someone like barrera, you are going to give his corner a couple of rounds to work on it, but when Parris took him to the doctor, it was dripping blood

He just looked quicker and more aggressive. Soon as his speed leaves him then hes just an ordinary fighter. Nothing special.

Last night imo we learnt absolutly nothing about Kahn, the fight was over in the 1st round, he won the fight with an accidental headbutt.

We need as rematch, is not going to happen thoe i susspect

I don't think the outcome would be any different in a rematch. Barrera's too small and too old to stand up to Khans speed and physical advantages. Unfortunately.

The bottom line is the 1st round was starting to unfold and there was a Clash of Heads which Barrera took the full impact from it but also left him with a nasty cut and blood dripping down into one of his eyes which basically left him a One eyed Fighter against one of the quickest Boxer's around. The Fight should have been declared a NO CONTEST after the 2nd or 3rd round as Barrera was at a Massive disadvantage due to the cut and it was only his bravery that made him continue.

I knew Khan would win the early rounds due to his speed but had there been no cut, i'm pretty sure once he started to slow down in the later rounds, Barrera would have been more effective and as was seen by the big shot he landed on Khan in the 5th, he may have actually knocked Khan out any time after round 8.

I agree it should have been a no contest as all the experts will also agree with, fightviews have already mentioned it.

I do think though Kahn did look a better fighter, but like you I said Kahn would be to quick for Barrera for four rounds and it would get interesting in the middle rounds.

I honestly dont think we can give Khan any Credit for winning this Fight due to the difference the Cut made to Barrera and the fact that he couldn't stick to his gameplan.

The one thing I will disagree with, not sure if it is on this thread or another. Is the Criticism of Khan's power. Just because MAB is a small Lightweight, doesn't mean he is going to be chinny at the weight.

Its not guarenteed that Prescott would KO Barrera. Barrera took a beating at the hands of Pacquiao fight 1 for many, many rounds. He has a great chin.

cant believe some of you guys.

barrera couldnt see a thing and he STILL was coming on in the round when the fight was conveniently stopped. Without the cut, Barrera would have taken everything Khan had to dish out all night, hauled him into the trenches and KO'd him.

As to the original question, has Khan improved? Well, if the version of him that turned up against Michael Gomez would have been here tonight, he would have been stopped by this blind fighter. So, take that for what it's worth...

No but it's pretty lame being boo'd that bad, especially when he is taking such a big risk against Barrera.

As for the thread, i personally feel he has improved a little. He never got carried away at the moments he would have usually. Took his time for once etc.

anyways I just cant belive Khan is getting out of this that easily, FFS he opened up a huge gash on Barrera's forehead by clashing heads in round 1, the doctor allows him to continue, Khan get fire at will since Barrera has blood flowing in his eyes, half blinded, and after round 5 doctor rules a stoppage thus going to the scorecard : well of course Khan was leading, he fought 5 rounds vs a guy who was half blind, this is total BS, the fight should be ruled a NC, but I guess that's how things go in Fwank Warren's land !
Anyways, Khan is now to fight JMM and some people are gonna be actually foolish enough to think he can compete against him...

You make it sound as if the butt was intentional, it was accidental but yes letting it go that long was stupid.
