Its nice to hear about rising stars. Divisions often had a habit of drying up at one time but not any more. Lots of Interesting young blood are turning pro now.

Bendall is now a gatekeeper, with all respect due to him. he isn't committing to his punches anymore and spends a lot of time spoiling.
Elcock smashed the absolute granny out of Bendall. McDermott beat him comfortably
if Smith is so good, if he's the fighter those in scouseland make him out to be at British level, he shouldn't have left the judges in any doubt at all with Bendall.

Agreed

I rate Smith, I think he's a good fighter but if he was
that good he should have stopped Bendall like Barker and Elcock did. Also, he always looks a bit soft at middleweight, I dunno if thats just his body-type but I get the impression he could make lightmiddleweight.

I think with Smith it's the case of he could be that good, not is that good.
It's so frustrating watching Smith put on a beautiful performance, then next bout looking really uncomfortable and not showing us what he can do.

is it coincidence, the 'beautiful performances' seem to be against guys with 17-11 type records and the uncomfortable ones against people remotely his own level?

I wouldn't necessarily say so, he's put on better performances against some of his more difficult opponents whereas he's not performed to his best against some of the weaker ones. He just seems to blow hot and cold, hopefully he's on the way up training back in Liverpool.
I do agree he's not faced anyone of note just yet.

I have only watched Smith/Renda on the Haye/Macca undercard, and he looked bad that night - I even think I had him behind when Smith stopped him. And losing to Bendall, who is okay, but nothing special just makes me think that this dude won't make it.

Smigga was really poor against Renda, but fortunately got the stoppage.
Since the Bendall loss he's gone back to his roots, so here's hoping

At the end of the day, its a good local scrap that is hard to call. I think Quigley will win, then i'm hoping a fight can be made between Smith and Quigley.

I do like the look of him but don't think he will be genuine world class.

Agreed, Anderson is the best prospect out there and hopefully he is past his managerial difficulties now so he can push ahead

Sky will show Kenny Anderson's fight this Friday won't they? I'm really looking forward to seeing him for the first time.

Maybe not mate, but being a sports network fighter it wont stop him wining a world title, On the subject of the British title though i think King may well go the distance, given that he has only ever been stopped on a cut, but regarding the other supermiddles ie Dodson, Smith, Quigley etc i doubt any of them would last 7 rounds.

None of them deserve it really. I like and rate Dodson, but what has he done to warrant a shot (and remember he was meant to be fighting Magee). Yes, he was a champion but he had his chance at redemption and got beat.
Smiths wins in the states haven't really got much attention here - remember he beat a guy (Banks), who beat Elvin Ayala (twice) who did okay against Abraham. But since then he has done nothing to warrant a shot.
I don't want to do any of the 3 mentioned a disservice, but I would like to see something half representing a RECENT meaningful win before getting such a shot.

Your right mate, if you look at some off the other weights none of these guys would be near getting a shot at the British.

Bull shit, Anderson has not earned the right to fight at that level yet. Last performance on sky left a lot to be desried!
Smigga would walk through the whole british smw division, bar froch, but once he gets stepped up a level, he will have the tool to take on someone like froch on a competitive level

Smith's comments are probably born out of frustration. He is being wasted with these spurious WBX Intergalactic titles his management seem to be putting him in, instead of pushing his cause for the British belt. I feel his career may be stalled beyond repair if they don't get a move on.
