I would love to see it too, but I think if Martin's head is right and so is his training then he will beat your brother.

martin, should you really be in contention after losing your last 4 fights tho?

i know they were all against a good level of opponent but anyone who loses 4 on the bounce does not deserve a title shot IMO.

that said tho, id like to see davies - power 2, would be a cracker...

I see what your saying 4in a row I will have to get in a couple of wins before i do go for it, or do you mean coz of losing 4 in a row i Never deserve a shot again?...
The problem is there aint many other Bantam weights...

Voluntary defence-
Who ever Frank M wants Gary to fight, he's got most of the Bantam weights and he wouldnt give it to a Bantam weight that he has'nt got a contrack with..
So who ever wins he Still has the Title....

i think the general consensus is that it's gonna go 1 of 2 ways
1. edmonds jabs and moves for 12 rounds wins a UD
2. Davies weathers an innevitable early blitz and stops him somewhere between 6 and 10

it's gonna be a stormer either way, me personally i'm going for a slightly biased No. 2 davies 8th rnd stoppage

I usually find that anyone who feels the need to put "the prestigious" in front of a belt (Lonsdale or other) is usually trying to talk up a crap fight.

do you know much about boxing? no 1 can deny tht this is a good 50/50 fight which means its going to be a cracker, not like some of the fights out there now which is proppect vs punchbag

Are either of them really British title class yet? One boxer is 10-2, the other is 8-2-1. Davies's upset win of an out of sorts Power aside, who has either of them beaten that sees them deserve a British title shot?

We have just seen Napa exposed at European title level, yet who would fancy either of these against Napa?

It can be a good 50-50 fight and be an eight-rounder. But that's what this is, at best an eliminator. If the winner of this boxed Napa for the British title, fair enough.

But this is a problem with Sky's present planning. They have to have a "title" in the top of the bill. So we end up with second rate Commonwealth title fights and downgrade the British title to keep it busy. Rather than that, how about a decent ten-rounder? How about we get opponents from the world's top 20, or serious tests for our champions, to see if they can get up the ranking on merit.

Sky may have ditched all the WBU rubbish, but is what we get instead any better?

Trouble is I grew up watching the likes of Sibson v Finnegan for the British title, or Cowdell v Needham. That's what I call a "prestigious" belt.

gobbles get a grip and watch the fight then the next day come and say it was a crap fight because it wont be and yeh they do both deserve it gary especially he beat a former british champ who is still very highly rated come back and post when to be onnest its the truth because that that post is just stupid

The point is that everyone knows the Lonsdale Belt is prestigious, you don't need to add prestigious to it.

How good do you think the viewing figues will be for this fight? Call me a fake all you like, but it is strange you resort back to the basic "have you ever been in a ring" bollocks, as if you are some kind of guardian to the sport.
I am amazed the Board OK'd Davies v Edmonds for the British title. I am equally amazed that Sky are headlining a show with it. That is not to put down either boxer, but I would hope that British titles were contested by boxers who are of title standard, not two guys who are essentially prospects.
But that's the world we live in when a guy like Napa gives up his British title, seemingly to allow a TV date to be filled by other boxers. I guess the title wasn't that prestigious to him.

The only reason Napa gave it up is coz he had won it out right and he was European champ at the time...

So where does Napa go now? Until the need to fill Sky TV dates of recent years, boxers were proud to hold on to their British titles after they won European titles. For instance Clinton McKenzie, who lost his Euro title on a low punch, but still was British champion and went on to defend that against Terry Marsh.

There was a sense of pride in being the best in Britain which seems to have been lost now.

i agree with gobbles, poor caliber fight for both the british & too headline a sky sports card

if FW was the promoter on this card this would now be on page10 with people calling this a scandel an how they are all going to cancel their subsription to sky sports
