Very good fight. I admire Watson, he's what Boxing is all about. A true, tough gritty fighter who is prepared to fight anybody. Somewhat resembles the fighters of old. Great style to watch.

I like Watson as a boxer and a lad - nice fella. Thought he just won too. Cracker - let's hope they do it again.

I agree on that - Watson has a real nice boxing style. I really enjoy his fights.

I thought O'Donnell would look smoother than he did but I guess Watson played his part in limiting O'Donnell's effectiveness.

Despite the razor thin decision loss (I thought the Manc had edged it) Watson still has a lot left to offer.

If I remember rightly O'Donnell's people are from the Galway area too.

Hmmm I thought Watson had that tbh, gutted for the lad I think he's been on the rough end of a decision tonight.

Yeah bit gutted for Watson as well especially as he's a fellow northerner - I thought he won a close but clear decision. After round 9 McCracken told O'Donnell he needed every round - that says it all. I think the hometown advantage paid dividends for O'Donnell and the judges were swayed by his vocal support- he should consider himself a lucky boy.

But the thing is I think he could have made the fight a lot easier for himself. I mean he ain't half frustrating to watch (well for me anyway) and I can only imagine how his trainer McCracken feels! If he gets his tactics right he could win a rematch handily. You have to ask what kind of a boxing brain O'Donnell has - he's a six foot one welterweight yet he has a non-existent jab(or never uses it) and fights down to his opponent. Obviously he shouldn't stick his chin out in the air but he shouldn't be crouching like he does either.

agree BP, but i think mainly the credit has to go to Watson for taking JOD out of what he does best. the absence of a jab, other than as a Herrol Grahm style tap, is a notable weakness in JOD's game.

I thought Watson done just enough but you couldn't moan as it was super close!! JOD is a very good fighter though..Can't stress enough how difficult he is to fight..

I thought Watson won it by 2rnds .. but wasn`t really surprised it went the other way because the rounds were close and hard to score depending what you were looking for .. Watson for me just knew that little bit too much and looked to be in control more.

The slip by Watson in the 8th was clearly him almost falling through the middle rope as he tried to sit on it as he done many times through the contest ... the replays showed this quite clearly.

As for either of them fighting Kell Brook.
Watson may fair better because of his savvy .. but O`Donnell wants to stay away from Brook because he doesn`t possess the skills to keep him off or the punch to pursuade him .. and he wasn`t hard for Watson to find was he

I had Watson winning by a round, but can't really complain about the result. Great fight, decent night of Boxing for ITV 4 just a shame they aren't following it up with the Froch-Taylor card. (and denying us the chance to see Tyson Fury make his stateside debut!)

Really enjoyed the fight. I thought Watson had it but a draw would have been a good decision. Very close, you couldnt say Watson was robbed but he didnt really deserve to loose either. Definately would like to see a rematch.

I had Watson by 2 rounds. I feel the judging was defo slightly biased by the crowd and a bit of politics, it was a Hennessey show, the Hennessey guy was meant to win and he did. Watson is sort of more on the periphery without any real money put behind him or into his career and I think he's suffered for that last night. Gutted for the lad, being a fellow Manc, he can come again I do hope a re-match is given by JOD.
