the main stumbling block will be the time its going out .. I just don`t see Froch being able to get anything like respectable viewing figures at that time of night on any TV station :(

Maybe ITV will buy replay rights and show after Sunday lunchtime?

Plenty of my friends would watch it after seeing Froch-Pascal. I agree they wont stay up for it but they would certainly record it and watch it the next day.

I really hoped Setanta would snare it but it appears unlikely now that this stream idea is up and running. Poor old Setanta are in dire straits anyway from what I'm told so they may not be showing much boxing or much of anything in the distant future

I shall buy the stream PPv even though it's overpriced and my internet connection is shit. I just discovered that my TV an HDMI cable, PYBCR and VGA monitor slots, so thanks for asking that question Mr.Payne, even though I don't have a clue what any of them do I'm willing to experiment

You have a point, but by Setanta not taking the fight are they not taking 'MY MONEY' and not delivering?

They are the new 'Home of Boxing' after all.

I cancelled SKY because they show rubbish Boxing...I have had Setanta since they started showing Boxing..

It is a sad day when they will buy American fighters and NOT support a British Fighter in an excellent match up.

Of course you know the ins and outs of the deals etc, but most people will watch this on a free stream the same way about 144K watched Khan Vs Prescott.

I feel for Hennessy, but this is not going to sell very well on ONLINE.. PPV TV? maybe , but online you never know what quality you are going to get.

Hennessy will be better served getting £30k from a tv company because he won't make that online.. I doubt he will make £10K.

Fans also pay a lot of money to subscribe to Setanta every month as the "home of boxing" and hoped that the big fights would be shown on this channel, especially those involving British fighters with no deal tying them to any other TV stations.

A lot of these fans don't have a lot of money floating about every month and cant or don't want to splash out an extra tenner on top of their SKY and Setanta subscription for an online stream.

I also don't trust an online stream to not pause and need to buffer at an important moment in the fight - so I wont risk paying for it and getting a poor quality stream.

I am over in England the weekend of the fight. I am trying to find a pub that will hook up a PC to a large screen and show it from the stream.

Problem is, in Wakefield where I am from, most boozers that open all night are full of nutcases who will get even worse with a fight on the big screen.

Buncey, I know what you are saying regarding the free stream angle, but you have to understand the fans frustration as well. I pay £40 per month for SKY and £12.99 for Setanta, primarily for the boxing. When none of these channels can even provide a next day replay of a fight that is of massive interest to most of us, I start wondering why the f**k I pay out over £500 per year.

Froch is a WBC champion, fighting a Marquee name. It needs to be available on TV, not some stream.

That's one thought - but I don't think people are going to buy this just to "help Carl make a few quid", after all he's probably a fair bit richer than most of us being asked to shell out.

Bottom line for me is that the pricing is way out and shows Hennessy's inexperience in this field. A tenner for one fight on your pc is not a casual buy - three or four quid might have been.

Spot on. As forcefraser said most of us have subscriptions to Setanta and Sky for their boxing coverage, where does it end? A tenner for an online stream is too high in the current climate.

I am flying over and attending the fight. But if I wasn't, I'd buy the legit PPV.

I can see the concern with this setting a precedent though, but I really don't imagine Hennesey/Froch are being too greedy, it's just bad timing with selling a one off fight to the TV networks.

I do wonder how the price for this compares to Cotto-Jennings though, what is/was always a much much less attractive fight.

Most of 'us' yes, most of the overall subscriber base? Sadly nowhere near.

I will not spend ten pounds to watch a blocky, freezy stream on my laptop. If they can't sort out live or even delayed TV coverage of a fight of this magnitude, everyone involved in these botched negotiations should be ashamed of themselves. Blaming the recession is a poor excuse: sporting events are still taking place and being screened. Maybe, if they seriously can't get their act together and get this shown live, they could provide a DVD of the match afterwards for a reasonable price.

Very poor show this not being on. Hennessy has to be partly to blame.

Setanta have agreed deals late before, wasn't Marquez Diaz jus a couple of days before recently? And that was in response to viewer demand, and i'm confident this is in much higher demand. Buncey's just said they were last to pull out, and made it sound like they didn't have a chance of securing it in the future, but hopefully the bosses have told him to say this in an effort to drive the price down.

Bunce didnt see too hopeful today about it. If this fight is not on telly then froch and hennesy will lose out and get no telly money

I am not buying a bloody DVD when I know the result!

I want the excitement a live event brings.
