Are you actually aware that Klitschko has agreed to fight Chagaev so there is no fight happening next month with Haye.

JFK, Elvis, 911 & now David Haye

I know that. Like I said. David Haye was hoping Klitschko would postpone it. So the fight would take place on Sky and David would get paid. Problem is Klitschko didn't want to wait.

Haye wants to get paid, as he’s not 100% certain he can win. So he doesn’t want to lose, which could be. His only decent payday. If he loses then his stock goes down.

He said David Haye even approached Sky. Asking them to pick up the fight but they turned it down. Setanta asked Sky for a loan which they also turned down. Sky are hoping Setanta will lose subscribers because of this farce, which will put the final nail in the coffin.

David Haye had to pull out with an injury because Wladimir Klitschko would sue. David Hayes injury will be healed in just 3 weeks for a few reasons. Setanta will most likely be gone by July, they need to make the June deadline. They are looking for investors. If Setanta folds, then Sky would be willing to broadcast the fight in July. By only needing 3 weeks. David Haye was hoping that Wladimir Klitschko would agree to postpone the fight. The David would get paid by Setanta or Sky depending on whether Setanta can get any investors by the end of June.

Cheers, that all sounds logical and probable IMO

I think, on balance, Haye did the right thing.

BUT

This is a guy who has been talking so much and running his mouth to the high heavens. So to pull out of the fight over money, without an injury, leaves a bad taste in the mouth, considering all of the talk Haye has done.

He was already giving Wlad the majority of the money for this fight. He was only getting the money for Setanta TV rights. If Setanta can't afford to pay him, are you suggesting that Haye fight Wlad for free? If so, then you, sir, are a top hat.

As I said, he probably did the right thing, but it's just the fact that he mouthed for so long and talked so much sh*t and then pulls out with a fake injury, that leaves a bad taste in the mouth. If he fought and beat Wlad he would then be in a position to call all the shots and make a shedload but he didn't fancy the risk. Clearly his confidence level isn't as high as he has been saying all along.

If he fought Wlad, and lost, then his career would need rebuilding after talking so much about "bums" in the heavyweight. You can be sure as hell, that if Haye's risking his career reputation, then he's going to want paying for it. Every fighter would do the same.

I know, but you can't tell me that all his trashtalk and then to pull out with a fake injury, doesn't make him look like a bit of a ponce. Fair enough, he could have lost badly, which would have been hard to come back from but if we were to believe all his bravado and talk, then he is confident enough to beat wlad and take the chance of not getting paid much this time. It shows that he is not truely confident of victory as he portrays it. Personally, I think he made the right decision and I wouldn't criticise any other fighter for pulling out under the circumstances, but due to all the trashtalk Haye has done, as I said, to pull out with a FAKE injury is a bit weak. He is 100% fit and ready and according to him he was going to take Wlad out early (I've studied Wlad, This will be one of my easiest fights etc)... and look what he produces.

A week ago, he, as the rest of us, thought he would be getting paid. Now to be told he isn't, I don't believe that anyone can think Haye looks like some kind of ponce. He wants the fight, but he wants to be paid. Hence Adam Booth trying to sell the fight to Sky.

I bet Haye is the most gutted person on the planet.

And by the way, we are speculating. For all we know, Haye has a sore back. It is conceivable that Haye is injured, and Booth had no choice but to pull him. You can't face the heavyweight champion of the world with an injury, plus nearly a year out.

You can't blame him for not fighting if he was not even gonna get the relative peanuts he was to be paid

Coco, I agree. To get paid only by Setanta for a heavyweight world championship fight, against the recognised number one in the world, was bad enough. But then to be told that you wouldn't be receiving any money whatsoever is scandalous.

Have to agree, with Setanta sinking like a stone, the quick healing, unprovable back injury thing sounded a little convenient. Can't blame him though, likely the only way he could ( literaly ) back out and not get sued, it's a very tricky one..

And yes, Big Wlad shows huge class by turning down the easy chance of getting back at his mouthy rival, he could have really stuck it to Haye if he'd wanted too. And you can just imagine what Haye would have come out with, if Wlad had pulled out.

A bit surprised Wlad didn't take the 3 week delay option, I'm pretty sure he would have flattened Haye fairly easily to be honest, maybe even in the first. Hopefully we'll still get to find out, maybe in Sept with any luck.

I think Haye might agree with that himself.

He is clearly not as confident as he is playing himself up to be. He knows he won't have felt the power that Wlad has before. He knows that Lolenga Mock had him doing a rendition of the riverdance in the ring. He knows that a powerful jab from Wlad might wobble him. He knows that his only chance to win is to land a big right hand but I think he is worried about getting past the ramrod jab. Maybe the enormity of the job is starting to dawn on Haye and the embarrassment of a KO1 on his record is stopping him from going through with it. Because if I believed in myself as much as Haye apparently tells us he does, I would be KEEN to fight Wlad for nothing because it would set me up for MULTI MILLION dollar paychecks in my next fights. Of course, if I was having major doubts, I would be looking to preserve my reputation and cash out against either Wlad or Vitali down the line. Its worth remembering, Carl Thompson did Haye at 40.

You need the security regardless of how confident you are.

The fact you don't seem to be able to see that and continuosly dig at Haye, tells me you are hater beyond reason.

Fighting Wlad for nothing, in Germany? That is a stupid idea, if not suicidal if it goes wrong, which it could do. I think Haye would KO him but the rewards don't meet up with the risks. Haye's career could be gone if he gets KO'ed. Another likely outcome I suppose.

JBacca has it spot on. It seems that you have an hatred for Haye because you don't seem to grasp that fighting is the equivalent of working for Haye, and no one in the right mind would graft for nothing, unless you're a God person or stupid. Haye is neither.

Remember, Haye has a business to support.

I have no hate for Haye, I was cheering for him throughout his career and will be against Wlad, but he is in a situation where he is telling the world and its mother that hes gonna EASILY beat Wlad etc, then pulls out with a fake injury. Basically it comes down to this...

1. EASILY beat Wlad (According to him), go on to make MULTI MILLION dollar purses.

2. Drop out of fight with Wlad, have to get in line, possibly fight contenders for way lesser money and have to work his way up, which could take years. Fans etc out of pocket, Haye out of pocket, setting himself back bigtime.

If I was Haye, and I genuinely believed the sh*t I was talking, I'd be choosing option one in a heartbeat. He talked so much sh*t that he wrote a cheque with his mouth and in this case, the cheque bounced.

Fact is, Haye is not as confident about this fight as we were led to believe because the rewards for beating Wlad are HUGE if he could pull it off. If i was Haye, I'd realize my vulnerabilities and I would have pulled out myself because there is a very good chance I would get KO'd quickly. However, I would feel embarrassed pulling out with a fake injury after all the talk I did.

You seem certain that it's a "fake" injury. Is there anyway you can corroborate that?

You also said that Haye would get massive purses if he beat Wlad. Haven't you forgotten the contract details that Haye has with the Klitschko's? If he beat Wlad, then he would have to rematch him and then if he beat him again, he would have to fight Vitali. If Haye can't secure TV rights from Setanta for these three fights then he's going to be in dead lumber financially. We have to assume that Haye, if he beats Wlad, would still be on the same money if he rematched him, so that wouldn't allow Haye to choose and pick his purses.

If Haye went into this hat-trick of fights with no TV (his only source of income), then that is suicide. You need to think what's logically right for Haye, and risking everything for no money is stupid. If you can't grasp that, then God help you.

He needs to realise that if he fights Wlad for free, then he will also fight the rematch and Vital fights for free too, when he has no TV behind him - his only source of income for the fights.

It said in the article link that someone pasted, that Haye' purse was £950,000, I thought it was more. But is that purse just for one fight, or all three fights?

I was under the impression that the only money Haye would get for this fight is the money from Setanta?

Is the money for just one fight, or if Haye wins, will a new purse be negotiated?
