Kazakhstan won the first leg 3-2 Lomachenko and Usyk winning for the Ukrainians.Mitrofanov is a late change for the Ukrainians in the second leg.
I can see this going 5-5 with a sudden death play-off.

No British Lionhearts team this year hopefully they will be back next year. I was just wondering what would everyone think of a British and Irish Lionhearts team. Last year i think the team lacked the strength in depth to compete with the top team and this year every team has got stronger with the introduction of Cuba,Russia selecting there better boxers and Kazakhstan selecting there better boxers too and Italia Thunder recruiting so many great boxers. If Britian and Ireland competed together i think they could really have a chance of winning, granted they would have to get a lot of there boxers back who have signed with differant teams

The Cuban teams first Away match is in Mexico this Friday and features R. Ramirez in the line-up. If there will be defections, this could be the most opportune moment as future away matches are in eastern Europe.

I think a combined team could be very competitive and the talent pool is vast enough that the squad could fill all divisions with home-grown fighters. All depends on who runs the franchise and how much they can pay.

In case you didn't already see it, here's an interview I did with Uwe Alten last year to ask him questions about the WSB concept.

good interview,i just did out a mock squad to see how the team might look

49kg-Paddy Barnes, Jack Bateson
52kg- Andrew Selby, Sean Mcgoldrick
56kg- Michael Conlan
60kg- David Oliver Joyce, Sean McComb
64kg- Sam Maxwell
69kg-Willy McLaughlin, Adam Nolan, Fred Evans
75kg-Jason Quigley, Anthony Fowler, Darren O'Neill, Conrad Cummings
81kg-Joe Ward
91kg-Thomas McCarthy
91kg+-Joe Joyce, Con Sheehan

Add a few internationals mainly at 64kg and 91kg and you would have a very good team

I Would put Charlie Edwards in at 52 and move Mcgoldrick up to 56.I would bring in Joe Cordina in at 60 with Joyce moving up to 64 where I think he boxes better.
Josh Taylor should come in at 64.
O Neill should move up to 81 where he is now competing and bring in Warren Baister at heavyweight.
49 Barnes,Bateson
52 Selby,Edwards
56 McGoldrick,Conlan
60 Cordina,McComb
64 Joyce,Taylor,Maxwell
69 Evans,Nolan,McLaughin
75 Quigley,Fowler,Cummings,
81 O Neill,Ward
91 McCarthy,Baister
+91 Joyce,Sheehan
As you say the team would need beefing up with foreign boxers to compete in the playoffs

USA vs. CUBA in the WSB playoffs. First match is set for March 28th in Miami. I had thought there was a chance for defections when Cuba was in Mexico last year but it didn't happen. Will they bring their "A" team to Miami, with great pro prospects like Sotolongo and Roby Ramirez and risk a big promoter snapping them up? Surely this would be the easiest path to defection for any Cuban boxer looking to come to the States.

The quarter-finals first leg matches take place over the next few days. However the scheduled match between the USA and Cuba has been postponed. All the matches contain World class boxers.
First up is the Astana v Germany match tomorrow.Astana look too strong for the Germans who have Michael Conlan in action.
Should be fun.
