I've been on board...Martinez needs to step to the plate. Only a few fights worth GGG's time at Middleweight. Martinez, Chavez Jr., Daniel Geale, maybe Pirog or Sturm just for the hell of it. Then he should go knocking out the Carl Froch's and the Andre Ward's of the world.

I'd take Ward confidently.

By the time he moves up to that fight he will have proven himself the dominant Middleweight king, and Ward's time will be up.

Why what did he say?
He didn't really say anything explicitly, he just implied that Showtime was kinda disgraceful for the way they used "bad stuff" like the sexual acts with some girl and domestic violence claims that Malignaggi and Broner were saying to promote that fight.
Jim's had DV issues.

Ward's time won't be up for quite a while.
Ward UD Golovkin.

He has a lot more fans than people think. A lot of people that don't really care about boxing love Mayweather. I don't think one loss puts him on the backburner, that's ridiculous.
He obviously wouldn't be given the same status, but to suggest he goes right off the radar is just retarded.
he might fight a little differently if he wasn't thinking about the record. maybe take a few more chances.
a loss might make mayweather a more aggressive fighter

Ward UD Golovkin.
Golovkin beat Dirrell in the amateurs who is also a very skilled boxer and very quick so I wouldnt write him off in that fight at all. Also Ward doesnt hit anywhere near hard enough to really bother Golovkin.

I don't care about the amateurs, where Jorge Luis Gonzales beat Bowe and Lewis. Biggs also beat Lewis and Tyson. Just a few examples.

I would like to see that. Fan of both, but I think Froch would take a beating.
Basically, if Martinez isn't going to fight GGG, then the Geale/Barker winner is his only meaningful fight left at MW. I'd like to see the move up to SMW relatively soon because there really isn't much challenge at MW for Golovkin's style/power outside of what I mentioned.

I don't care at all about the amateurs. We're in the pros, so talk to me about pro fights.

When people talk about Floyd and Ward, how much are their amateur credentials discussed?
Not much.

Well, he's dominated so far. You don't think he is something special?
I think he's one of the top middles.
Ward is something special. He's left no doubt he's the top dog in his division.

I don't know where you've been, but it's constantly brought up.
It has no influence on their current ranking, but it definitely plays into analyzing a matchup. It ALL plays into it. You judge a fighter at their current condition.
Experience isn't an issue for GGG or Ward. If a fighter's had a ton of amateur fights fighting a guy who's had none (and they're both turning pro), that guy of course has more boxing experience.
But one's having been a good amateur doesn't mean he'll dominate as a pro.
And Floyd's and Ward's resume (when they're discussed) focuses on their pro work.

That's because neither have had the same am successs and experience as G. There is a reaon G is as successful as he is in the pros. It is because he has faced and beaten the best in teh Ams. He fights in the style he does because he understands the game. He isn't wreckless. He figures out what his opponents offer within the 1st round and so far, knows he can handle their power and uses effective footwork, precision, and power to win fights.
As knowledgable as you seem to be, Rover, I am surprised that you don't see the uniquness in GGG.
Ward won a Gold Medal in the ams. That's as successful as it gets.

Only time will tell. He has at least 4 fights he should take before that one I think. Martinez, Chavez Jr., Geale and Carl Froch.

When you watch a guy fight for years it gets old to keep on bringing up their amatuer experience, but I would bet BOTH nuts that it's been talked about extensively during pro fights of each of those fighters.
Not when it comes to evaluating how they'll do in a fight. When people discuss Ward's status (P4P and all-time), his pro resume is the main focus.

But Ward is about talent and game plan. G already has that info inside him. He finds out what he needs to in the first round and makes his decision at that point. He has a very precise jab and effective defense when utilized.
He hasn't fought anything near Ward.

I agree he's better than Broner. I remember Fantastic's saying Broner would put him in a coma (ridiculous).
But when your best win is Macklin, not P4P top 10 yet.

True, but I believe G would demolish teh same fighters Ward has. In more dominating fashion as well.
I doubt he'd demolish Froch, Kessler and even Bika.

I made it clear that it has no bearing on their ranking, but it's a factor in evaluating a fighter. Especially the more unknown a fighter is to the public. Like I said, you take them at their current condition.
Not in handicapping how a fighter will do against another fighter.

I agree with you. Bu comon. Who would you say beats him anywhere around his weight....except for Ward?
I'd take Froch. And I'd also take Martinez (if he's healthy, which we don't know).

Bika would be first given his style. Kessler definitely. And I would be fully confident in his ability to get inside on Froch and put him on his ass.
I don't see him demolishing those guys. They aren't Macklin, especially Froch.
