Cleverly had a reasonable opening couple. Ideally he'd have been landing the jab more but he was boxing well overall.

I don't see a disgrace in Cleverly coming out for the 4th in a world title fight.

braehmer does seem to be the top contender. but he didn't rush to fight cleverly, whom I think would've mauled him to a late stoppage defeat.

reckon if braehmer wants this fight, it's his. I don't think he'll fancy it. but i'm more than happy to see kovalev stay busy, fight his top contender, of take on someone like fonfara.

No I wasn't; Nathan looked to be dealing with things in the first 2 rounds, moving, slipping throwing punches and moving Kovalev back. He came apart suddenly, he got caught hard and never really recovered, though he tried. He didn't throw a punch in the 4th round and was lucky to get through 3.

I guess we have different ideas of what constitutes looking good. Clev was getting off second best in each of the rounds and he looked very uncomfortable to me.

Kudos 100% to Kovalev, what a puncher he is and he made a big statement, so big that the ref became the cornerman for the opponent!!!

I think he was stepping in because he knew clev was about to go if he took much more so didnt want him to get hit with anything after the bell. He couldnt give him a standing 8 count and by stepping in he knocked a dazzed and confused cleverly off balance so had to hold him up - i dont think O'Connor did a lot wrong there he didnt really have much choice.

Kovalev made a fan out of me tonight, most of us said clev was likely to get ko'd im not sure this shows that kovalev is amazing though i just think it showed that clev is really european level.

Cleverly was not at the races. I was a little surprised at how weak he appeared after going down, he looked spent and possibly weight drained? Dont know much about him though so cant say, just an observation.

On the other hand Kovalev hits like a mule with every punch, the shots Cleverly was blocking were likely having more of an effect than they appeared to be.

The fight should have been stopped in round 3, and it was. Only the ref overruled his own decision. Inept, corrupt and a bloody joke.

He did fvck up a bit, but if you're going to let a fight go too long, then once the bell goes is the best time, at least then the fighter has the minute to recover and if he's not right the corner can pull him out. Cleverly clearly wasn't right and the corner should have pulled him out.

He looked to be boxing to a plan and didn't seem to be really troubled by anything; no one really expected Nathan to win the first 3 rounds and expected him to get a pounding. He didn't get a pounding but was really undone with one sht that didn't look that great, he didn't recover from it. Do you think he lost the rounds badly? was he under massive pressure, did he take big punches? Was he cut or wobbled? He was still boxing to his plan when he got undone.

I thought Cleverly looked gunshy! He was fighting at the perfect range for Kovalev aswell where he can land his bombs! He needed to either be completely on the backfoot or on his chest 'phonebooth' style so Kovalev couldnt get leverage but he did neither.

Just about every one felt that the first 3 rounds would be terribly dangerous for Nathan. He came out and met Sergey and coped well the first round; he wasn't hurt, hit hard and kept busy while maintaining a presence - he threw back and was more than a nuisance. The same pretty much round 2; and Kovalev was cut. As the danger rounds were 1-3 and Nathan had got through OK and cut the fellow and held up then he was looking good. It's moot in any case as Nathan lost - he came apart when he was caught hard and didn't recover but he boxed well until then and looked good doing it.

depends what you compare it to he looked effing awesome in rounds 1 and 2 compared to rounds 3 and 4

And when Kovalev gets his head knocked in eventually he'll not look the same as he id when he winning. Boxing is a brutal sport and sometimes the fans are more cruel than the boxers.
