GGG is a middleweight who has never been hit by a super middle.

For all the hype about his finishing he does get caught alot.

I like Froch, a true warrior. Yes, I wanted Groves to win today - but I always like seeing Carl doing well. The reason why I agreed with Expe's post about it being depressing.... was not because I have a hatred for Froch is because we will now get months after months on ringside about how good Carl was. He was better, but it wasn't exactly a dominant win - as Carl (fair play) acknowledged.

Ward still smashes him, 48 year old Hopkins still probably beats him... and yes, I do actually favour Degale.

Can't see the point really. Not much money in it (for him anyway). Ward would bore us all to a 12 round UD. Wouldn't be in vegas like froch wants. I think Ward Groves would be more interesting

I don't know what it is with Froch fans and thinking that so many people disrespect him as a fighter or don't give him his due. He was probably the forum favorite, he was the betting favorite, and there were also a fair number of people who were critical of Groves. Based on the first fight, there was nothing wrong with picking Groves.

I actually changed my prediction during the ring walk! All along I thought Carl would stop him sometime after the 9th but switched to Groves on points at the last minute.

I'm a fan of both fighters.

True. In the first fight though, for 7 rounds at least, he made Froch look like a mug. Although he will always be a much better boxer technically, they didn't seem the world apart like that did the first fight. Could be due to froch improving

They were coming in with much more frequency then. This time, Froch was hardly throwing big rights from range, so I think Groves was a victim of letting himself relax into the more measured tempo.* He sharpened up when the flurries came in, but the finisher was Bernardesque.

I imagine a lot had to do with Froch's head still spinning for about four or five rounds.

Yeah maybe. Ward is a different level though. He only has 1 or 2 fights left (3 at a push). He's done everything and done it the hard way. There's money in a degail fight as James' massive mouth would build it over here along with froch's status and there's money in Chavez. Maybe froch is just thinking about what can secure his family financially now

can't ask for more, froch destroyed the guy, and who cares what round it came in?

nice run of world class wins by froch: bute, a breather v mack, Kessler II, groves & groves again. 2 wars and 2 brutal stoppage wins; well done, cobra.

are some of you really going with the old, "he was doing well until he got knocked out" cliché for groves?

this win gives froch leverage to get big name opponents in the UK - which increases his chances of winning - though a fight with olympic gold medallist and IBF elim winner degale could also be made big.

I thought Froch was winning though not as far ahead as Watt had him and he wasn't dominating. Groves just wasn't doing anything until round 7. Froch boxed very well and when Groves opened up he executed him. Brilliant performance by a truly great champion.

Those joyless souls among you who can't appreciate what Froch did tonight need to really ask yourself why you follow boxing.

I didn't think it was dull, I found it fascinating. I guess so many people will expecting early fireworks and when that didn't happen it all seemed like a bit of an anti-climax.
