Killing innocent people mate is terrorism whatever way you look at it and whoever is committing the act. I say not justifying what the british leadership did to the Irish people over hundreds of years by any stretch.liamlion wrote:Pardon?los2 wrote:liamlion wrote:

Yes and it was undoubtedly an act of state sponsored terrorism. No question. It was wrong.liamlion wrote:And I'm sure you do know what today is the 27th year anniversary of, dont you?

How much longer before this thread turns? See it coming a mile off!
Re: Shots fired at Dublin weigh in
My point being, its usally the biggest terrorisors of all who have the audacity to criticise others as being "terrorists". The irony is sickening. To that end, the term is very often used subjectiveley.lefty wrote:Killing innocent people mate is terrorism whatever way you look at it and whoever is committing the act. Any innnocent person who dies is one too many.
I just understand that if a mighty and powerful governement treats a particular group of people poorly, unfairly, violently and sometimes murderously then that group is very likely to uprise and respond accordingly. The events at Bloody Sunday and the subsequent government whitewash inquiry is widely accepted as being the biggest recruitment sergeant in the history of the IRA. How long did it then take for a proper inquiry to be established and for the state to allow the truth to out? I think the whole saga would properly and reasonably be classed as evidence of state oppression.

And here we go
This thread is in the boxing forum, the original shooting took place at a boxing weigh-in therefore it's relevant. The terrorist chat, Brit/Irish bashing that is about to take place can surely take place in off topic or better still, private messages surely?
Back to on topic...MGM getting enough grief for these carry ons? The lack of criticism for their links from those within the business is embarrassing

Yes good point. I can't imagine Matt Macklin is feeling tha great about his position. Whenever his name is mentioned, they always say he has no links to crime and is totally unaware of any criminal activities.... But really?lillywhite14 wrote:And here we go![]()

Re: Shots fired at Dublin weigh in
I don't think Macklin's involved in anything but there's no chance that he doesn't know what's going on. He's now usually known as Matthew Macklin not involved in organised crime, not really the sort of associations most people would want surrounding them.reggaereggae wrote:Yes good point. Re: Shots fired at Dublin weigh in
Exactly. Macklin isn't a fool, he knocks about with them it seems and must know what they are all about.
Re: Shots fired at Dublin weigh in
Anyone knocking around with them and not involved in the drugs trade is a fool. Why on earth would you risk getting shot or Interpol getting you on remand in a Spanish prison while they try and get you on a conspiracy charge if you weren't having a bit of action yourself? There's not many people that funny and charismatic that they're worth getting killed over, 10 or 20 grand a week on the other hand...

Macklin needs a lot of criticism for bringing these lads into the boxing game. Irish boxing is ruined
Re: Shots fired at Dublin weigh in
Short term maybe, messed up a lot of plans, Saunders was going to make his first defence in Dublin on April 30th and Butler-Conlan will now be in the UK instead of Ireland, but long term I don't see any real problems.TheLeprechaun wrote:Macklin needs a lot of criticism for bringing these lads into the boxing game. Re: Shots fired at Dublin weigh in
Surely it's about making sure that the boxers and officials are safe, would there need to be extra security with MGM boxers involved and who would pay for it?expe wrote:Short term maybe, messed up a lot of plans, Saunders was going to make his first defence in Dublin on April 30th and Butler-Conlan will now be in the UK instead of Ireland, but long term I don't see any real problems.TheLeprechaun wrote:Macklin needs a lot of criticism for bringing these lads into the boxing game. Re: Shots fired at Dublin weigh in
i think our boxing will still go strong in the 6 counties with cyclone and dunlop promotions, and the ams are great in this country, but its fuked in dublin for the foreseeable future alrite. a pity with a lot of good prospects coming tru.TheLeprechaun wrote:Macklin needs a lot of criticism for bringing these lads into the boxing game. Re: Shots fired at Dublin weigh in
I don't think MGM will be involved, who would buy a ticket and who would work with them? Can see them being cut out of the picture completely in future, Warren's already said that he'll promote in Dublin again.palooka wrote:Surely it's about making sure that the boxers and officials are safe, would there need to be extra security with MGM boxers involved and who would pay for it?expe wrote:Short term maybe, messed up a lot of plans, Saunders was going to make his first defence in Dublin on April 30th and Butler-Conlan will now be in the UK instead of Ireland, but long term I don't see any real problems.TheLeprechaun wrote:Macklin needs a lot of criticism for bringing these lads into the boxing game.
