Nigel Benn v Lou Gent at the Olympia. Half the crowd was E'd up. effing mental atmosphere. No one expected Gent to win but everyone had a good time anyway :OhYes:

Although the Steve Collins bout was as dull as fck. That was when he was primarily a boxer. His later style was a lot more fan friendly.
I was there too! (No Es though.) it was my first big fight, and a weird atmosphere. Some shady people! I thought Collins looked really poor that night and thought he would do nothing. Just an off night I guess
I was one of the shady people

There were lots of East End "I'm a Gangster" types there with big titted blonde birds all thinking they're the mutts nuts. They were taking things very seriously.

Then there was a Rave crowd from South London area there for a laugh. Probably all went to MoD after.

Do you remember the crowd going nuts when Gent would 'trap' Benn on the ropes & throw in a load of wide punches only for Benn to do his usual spring off the ropes with a dozen punches in the blink of an eye.

Meanwhile the crowd were singing "Saaf Lahndan, rah rah rah. Saaf Lahndan, rah rah rah" :D

Hahahhaha yeah. Good times. I was young and extremely naive and didn't even understand the crowd. I even got a warning for standing in the wrong place by some 'face' dressed in a nice coat, with a good tan and some aforementioned standard blonde with big tits... Who was the older 'gent' with dark glasses who seemed to be a villain. Alex Steen? He was a Gent backer I think

That was a weird ending. Eggy just letting himself get hit over & over.

Eggington reminds me of Lurch, or the ugly kid from the goonies.

Looks like he has been hitting a bong for the last month.

I must have gone to 12-15 Benn fights & there was always that sort of crowd there.

Except the rematch with Eubank. For that one we were in a box with the Man Utd youth team. No E's that night but plenty of charlie flying about.

Right on the liver.

Edit - No actually right into the rib, might be a broken rib or two there.

Bloody hell, well done Eggy. I didn't agree with the commentary having Eggy ahead but fair play to him, he finished it in style.

Peach of a shot, fair play Sam. Had it 5-2 Paulie at the time of the stoppage.

To be fair his limitations are farily plain to see. He is entertaining to watch though

Bugger.

Thought Paulie would get this done on points. :witzend:

That was a brilliant bodyshot from Eggington to end things, Malignaggi jabbed well at times and had the moment when he seemed to hurt Sam at the end of a round but Eggington was the better man throughout for me, I'm surprised Paulie was ahead on 2 cards, Eggington was too tall and the right hand landed too easy and stunned Malignaggi more than once

As I said though great left to the body

Fair play to Paulie, I'd rather he hadn't taken this fight but he wasn't disgraced, I had him 2 up.

Great finish, Eggington by stoppage and Yamanaka by stoppage this week were ridiculously well priced

That's true but mallignaggi is a few years removed from his best days and was winning the fight

Class from Paulie. I bet he doesn't understand a word Eggington says.

Paulie Malignaggi has a career ahead in commentary if he wants it. Eggy definitely doesn't.

Which is exactly why you would put a 23 year old kid in with him. That's how you learn.

Despite being one of the two fighters, he managed to analyse his own fight more objectively that Smith and Froch!

I thought Paulie-Sam was the chief support? Is Haye-Bellew going to be on before 10, or what are they going to do for the next half hour, the next hour?
