I gave Parker 4 rounds.
Andy had him going backwards pretty much the whole fight.
And all personal views aside, Compubox had Andy landing more than two times more jabs, power punches and punches over all.
Even Bob Sherriden said he had never heard of any of the 3 judges, and that is saying something after doing mega amount of title fights.
Yes I watched the fight and I had Parker winning a close decision. Compubox and someone who did not recognize who the judges were?

Ruiz is a tough, skilled, fat little HW. He gave Parker a good fight but lost on my card, close. You saw it the other way, but no way should Team Parker waste time on another octopus in quicksand struggle like that. It would not be good business or entertainment.

Ruiz v Takam could decide the king of close losers to Parker and it would be a good fight.

Did Parker pull out NO.
Did Parker take another fight at a week or so's notice . YES .
.. Did he pick a expensive dangerous opponent he had no time to prepare for NO .
.. Did he do more than others would of done , by taking a fight no matter who it was when not prepared for it YES .
.. Could it of been dangerous and stuff his whole future up , because its heavyweights and one punch is all it takes YES .
..Is he to blame for anything from the pullout through to his opponent being rated NO.
Did he hold back thinking , if i don't shine , i maybee offered a money fight with AJ or even better Bellow ... Mmmmm . Don't know

Did the Fury's come out looking like untrustworthy Lying ameteurs . who are just too hard to deal with BIG . YES

Did Parkers stock come down at all BIG NO
Parker's stock went down for me

I dont blame him for fighting Cojanu, but going the distance with someone that bad--someone who can barely beat clubfighters and was KTFO by a relatively low level opponent a few bouts earlier--isnt the stuff of a top heavyweight. I wouldnt be remotely surprised if a guy like Bellew easily stopped Cojanu in 4-5 rounds; that's how bad big Raz is.

I do believe that Parker is capable of better, but on that form he's not going much further.

Yeah, late sub but still, he should be blowing that sort of opponent out of the water, no questions asked. Parker was always considered the weaker title holder but now he's looking like a man several levels below the others.

I also gave Ruiz the win on the scorecards, but can see why Parker was given the decision. I guess judges look for different things, and some will prefer back foot fighters, and some front foot fighter. I personally always prefer front foot fighters, so guys like Mayweather, Ward, Parker etc do wind me up a bit. But Parker was nicking good hits on the retreat, which I guess to some judges are good scoring punches. I preferred Ruiz' aggressive closing down approach, but admittedly gave a lot away due to reach.

I decided that this fight has essentially no impact on Parker's reputation. He could well have just cancelled the fight on the back of the Fury withdrawal, but wanted to give value to his fans, and credit to him for that.

I'm admittedly disappointed in the fight itself. It was not an entertaining spectacle at all. Parker had a real problem with loading up on Cojanu. Cojanu was being awkward, but felt that someone of Parker's perceived level couldn't find what he needed to get the stoppage.

Maybe it was a cunning plan to make Joe "look" enough of a bum for Wilder to want to actually fight him, rather than talk about fighting him?

It shouldn't hurt Parker's reputation in terms of how his matchmaking is perceived, as the Fury bout was a mandatory, it didn't fall through on Parker's end, and the ultra short notice makes Cojanu a defensible opponent in the circumstances .

However, in terms of what he showed in the ring, and what it says about his abilities, Parker's stock definitely dropped for me. Cojanu is absolutely dreadful when evaluated in a world level context, and Parker should have gotten him out of there, or at least put him down a few times. I understand that they sparred and seem friendly with each other, but Parker looked very sloppy in general, his shots weren't doing damage despite frequently landing, and I don't think that can be explained by his past with Cojanu.

If Chisora (a high-level gatekeeper) and Parker fought in a neutral venue and were judged fairly, it wouldn't remotely surprise me if Chis did an 8-4 job on him.

How about Hughie actually fight a contender and actually become a legitimate Top 20 Heavyweight...he still hasn't actually done that yet. He'll be getting a shot at Parker because he's related to Tyson Fury, not because he's actually earned it.

Of course I guess it's only natural that a paper Champion should have paper contenders.

I'm more interested in if he is cleared by UKAD, but even I'm losing interest in that !!

Still zero fights since that charge in June 2016.

Why would anyone about to get a shot at a title risk it fighting a contender?

Yeah I know.

It's too much to ask of Boxing these days for guys to actually earn title shots instead of simply receive them.

No. Putting the drug issue to one side for a moment, Hughie just doesn't have the profile. I don't know what Warren is doing here but he lost the purse bid first time round and once again the sums just don't add up. Getting Parker over here will cost millions that he can't recoup through any obvious means.

Exactly just realised he said the fight would happen in the uk.

No chance !! It's not financially viable. If Hughie could sell out the Manchester arena then it would be.

Like you said it would make a huge financial loss which he wouldn't recoup. Even cashing out on an AJ fight afterwards.

Tyson can't even sell out the Manchester Arena against Wlad. Hughie is a tenth of the fighter Tyson is with probably less than a tenth of the profile and Parker is nobody in the UK.

If this was ever rescheduled (which I don't think it will be or should be), Parker should be allowed to add a clause in the contract for the Fury camp to fully compensate his expenses and purse when they pull out again.

I wouldn't underestimate fwanks desire to get a version of the heavyweight title in his stable. I think he'll bankroll it. He needs to deliver for BT, Hughie's profile is limited and obscure but fwank is in the business of developing profiles, and having a world heavyweight champion matters. Not that bellew would beat Parker but I can't see fwank letting this opportunity slip and risking the.wbo title going to matchroom.

Hughies meant to be boxing on the undercard of Jack Arnfield on 15th July at Winter Gardens Blackpool but still no opponent named.Looks like they are struggling to get someone.I won't be suprised if hes pulled off that show aswell to be honest.

I read that they need to re-negotiate the next fight again & go to a purse bid if they cant agree. Can anyone confirm this? It seems unfair to the JP camp as they won the first bid just to have the Fury's pull out at the last minute.
