I hope Gassiev wins, I think Dorticos would be a match very much in Usyks favour, Gassiev gives Usyk a much better test.

Gassiev posseses a great left hook to the body and Briedis hit Usyk 3-4 times to the liver. I think Gassiev is slower and more predictable than Briedis, but he is bigger, stronger and probably hits harder, especially with body punches.

Which is why I am pretty sure that it will be Gassiev.

I think Gassievs punching may be a bit more compact than that of Breidis, like you say definitely better to the body.

Breidis vs Gassiev would be a great fight too. Probably better than Gassiev Dorticos.

Briedis is somewhat of the inside, spoiler mold. That uppercut is world class. As already shown, he's put a HW to sleep with it and would likely repeat several times over. Not great to watch but more competent than majority of HWs. Usyk gets hit, that comes with his style of being an aggressive ring general, which always sees him dominating his opponents by the 6th round onward. Most HWs would be flustered by the style, and outside of a couple of them, there's no power to speak of. Basically, only the top couple of HWs could compete.

Your post is laughable. What do people not understand? Usyk's speed will be an enormous asset at HW. Usyk is a better fighter against bigger, plodding guys. Usyk would absolutely make AJ look silly. It's no contest. Hell, I also think Briedis would give AJ his most difficult fight, win or lose.

As for anyone talking about Briedis. Let's just put it this way. Briedis and Huck are better HW names on Usyk's resume than anyone on Wilder's resume.

Usyk will clean out the HW division. No one in HW is a threat. I actually think Usyk will have more trouble if he stays in CW than moving up to HW. Briedis is easily a bigger threat to Usyk than AJ.
I think suggesting Joshua has little chance against Usyk is as nuts as giving Usyk little chance, it looks to be a very competitive match. Joshua isn't just some lumbering great hulk like Carnera, he's an athletic Olympic Gold Medalist standing six feet six, with twenty knockouts in twenty fights. If the fight ended early it would be Joshua the winner.

Having said that, as good as Joshua is, I firmly believe Usyk to be the more skillful boxer and it's only because of his physical advantages taken together with his quality (physical advantages nowhere near enough without that quality) that I'd make AJ favourite.

@x2x and Valmar. Thanks guys for your kind words.

@boxing _rocks. I think Usyk has too much for Gassiev or Dorticos but I like your bold prediction.

Should be an easy UD for him although I’m not overly impressed. He may well get beaten up badly in the final. And his HW plans are totally laughable. If he ever gets in the ring with an above average HW puncher, he’ll get bullied badly.
Usyk and Briedis are clearly better than nearly every HW.

I can understand if you have Usyk winning, but Briedis not impressing you is an insane thing to say. Both dudes were boxing at the absolute highest level. This is like saying that Morales and Barrera didn't impress you because they were so "hittable" in their war. This wasn't Wilder vs. Szpilka. This was two top CW fighting at the absolute highest caliber.

I'd expect someone with your user-name to have more respect for the heavyweight who is long on ability if short on weight and length.

Usyk has great stamina, excellent technique, and a high pressure game. He will aim to get inside and deny AJ the leverage to throw meaningful shots. His problem is he doesn't hit hard enough to make AJ wary and that is a big handicap. If you saw the Joyce fight you'll know that having size, strength and power advantages over Uysk is no guarantee of success even if you're good enough to win an Olympic Silver Medal at Super-heavy.

I'd favour AJ to beat him but anyone who thinks Usyk doesn't present a threat to AJ hasn't been paying attention.
For the time being I stand by what I say for a number of reasons.
Usyk looks almost maxed out in his body shape at Cruiserweight, how much more weight he could possibly put on and be effective seems a long shot right now.
The power he showed me against Briedis was ok for Cruiserweight but it will likely take a lot more than that to trouble a big Heavyweight.
His volume and activity are ok and he does possess a specialized tool or two in his bag, but the wear and tear he'll go through due to his style could hamper him during his climb up to Heavyweight let alone what happens when he gets there.
Early days yet though, let's see how it plays out along the way.

This :TU:
He didn’t manage to wobble Briedis once. How will he trouble a regular HW? I don’t think it’s an era for slappers at HW. Plus Usyk does get hit. And if he gets tagged by a real HW, he will get hurt.

as a fan id like to see him stick to cruiser and build a legacy there. make his name synonomous with cruiser excellence. be remembered for that rather than getting ko'd as a heavy.

i think he could definitely beat parker but soon parker wont have a belt to give usyk a claim to being a hw world champ. wilder and joshua are too big and hard hitting. i think hed box more carefully vs them, as he did vs top amateur shws, but it wouldnt be enough.

though if he wins the tournament i imagine hell have really good money opportunities to move up, and id expect him to cash out with a stoppage loss vs aj probably.

Yawn, Usyk was fighting big, talented SHW in WSB. He schooled them. AJ is no threat. Usyk was taking Briedis' uppercuts, which completely demolished Charr, like candy. His chin is fine. Usyk is also a HW that can make CW.
