Chief support has now been announced....
Anthony Yarde vs Lyndon Arthur
Massively underwhelmed. I was hoping Yarde would fight someone in the world top 10, not outer reaches of British top 10.

Press Release
THE EAGERLY ANTICIPATED 'Seek and Destroy' showdown between Daniel Dubois and Joe Joyce at the o2 Arena on April 11 now has a blockbuster chief support in place with Anthony Yarde set to take on the unbeaten Lyndon Arthur.
In what is another huge domestic duel, Yarde - who lost out in a world title challenge to Sergey Kovalev on away soil in August of last year - goes in with Manchester's former Team GB product and Commonwealth champion Arthur in what is certain to be a pulsating collision of big-punching light heavyweights.
Decorated amateur Arthur, also 28, has registered 12 KOs from his 16 professional fights and won his Commonwealth crown last time out against Emmanuel Anim in December.
Trained by Pat Barrett at the Collyhurst and Moston Gym, 'King Arthur' has long considered himself the dark horse of the currently hot division and was patiently awaiting a breakthrough opportunity against one of the marquee domestic light heavyweights.
His wait is nearly over and we can expect a fascinating clash between a vastly experienced former amateur star and one who exploded onto the scene and thrived despite a limited amateur background.
Further title action comes in the form of a British welterweight championship rematch between Chris Jenkins (22-3-3, 8 KOs) from Garnant in Wales and 'The Pexican', Peckham's Johnny Garton (21-2-1, 10 KOs).
The pair met in March 2019 when Garton was champion - having won the belt in a thriller against Gary Corcoran - at the Royal Albert Hall. Jenkins prevailed via the scorecards after an enthralling encounter and now he makes his third defence, having clocked up a victory over Paddy Gallagher and a technical draw last time out with Liam Taylor, where the fight was stopped due to a severe cut.
WBO European super featherweight champion Archie Sharp (18-0, 9 KOs) will be in title action at the o2, along with the WBO European super welterweight champion Hamzah Sheeraz (10-0, 6 KOs).
'Sharpshooter' Sharp clinched his champion status in October 2018 with the defeat of the then unbeaten Lyon Woodstock in Leicester. He has since made three successful defences of his title and has broken into the top-five of the WBO world rankings.
Sheeraz, just 20, won his belt with an impressive stoppage of Birmingham's experienced campaigner Ryan Kelly in November.
Also featuring on the stacked Dubois-Joyce undercard is big-hitting middleweight Denzel Bentley (12-0, 10 KOS), top heavyweight prospect and Tyson Fury sparring partner David Adeleye (1-0, 1 KO) and precocious bantamweight talent Dennis McCann (6-0, 4 KOs).
McCann's Queensberry iBox Gym teammates Sam Noakes (3-0, 3 KOs), Henry Turner (2-0) and Micky Burke jr (3-0) join him on the big show.

The BrItish scene is really gonna be on fire after this one takes place.
It’s a shame half the fights can’t actually be made.
If Joyce wins is he signed up to Warren and BT? Judging by the fact Warren is solidly backing Dubois and Joyce’s manager is chirping at Frank I’m not so sure.

Joyce is already signed up with Warren and BT.

For how long was my question.
He signed with Frank for his fight v Ustinov. Dubois has recently been announced as having a 5 year deal with Queensbury. I ain’t so sure Joe Joyce has a 5 year deal.

I'm kinda hoping for a Dubois win, either by decision or TKO victory. But I do like both of these fighters. So, if Joyce is able to pull out a victory, I won't be too disappointed.
Dubois reminds me of a young, fit Riddick Bowe.
And Joyce reminds me of a George Foreman in his younger days.
I always was a fan of both Riddick and George!

I'm hoping for dubs too. But he reminds me more of Ron Lyle right now. Bowe was a way more complete fighter in his prime. As for Joyce...he always reminded me of a thudding John Tate. Makhmudov reminds me of Foreman.

Could go ahead behind closed doors but can’t see that being financially viable.

Still nothing about this being off. If it goes on I'm definitely still going to go: at Dubois-Gorman we got seat upgrades because it didn't sell out and if people choose to stay home then I can see us having a great view. If it doesn't go ahead well, I could do with the money from the refund to be fair.

You can go but they'll be no fight

Isnt Joyce training in the States, might be difficult getting a flight back in time.
Also the BBBC, have placed a temporary ban on all boxing until they can get the correct medical advice.
I'd still like to see it go ahead, even behind closed doors, no crowd with all officials, close family and coaching staff tested.
As for having no crowd maybe it can be replaced with Mics on the ref and corner, which may add to the atmosphere and give some insight.
Just looks very unlikely at present.

Without a crowd, you won't need mic's on the ref's, you'd be able to hear them anyway.

As I’ve said in the other thread no fights are happening as paramedics won’t be in attendance which you need under BBBC rules.

And if fighters, officials or stewards are set to come in from countries that we’ve closed our borders to for now then they won’t be in attendance either.
So that’s a fight between fighter a and a non existent fighter b. With a non existent referee and judges. Steward in charge non existent. And if anyone somehow manages to injure themselves then they get attended to by non existent paramedics and taken to hospital in an invisible ambulance.

I'd rule that a TKO for Fighter A

Queensberry Promotions Official Statement Regarding Forthcoming Boxing Events
Following the guidelines and advisory measures announced by both the Government and The British Boxing Board of Control, Queensberry Promotions feel it would be inappropriate to proceed with any forthcoming Boxing promotions in front of live audiences during April and May. The Coronavirus situation is evolving rapidly and we will continue to follow the Government’s guidelines to ensure the Health and Safety of the paying public, staff and the participants.
Regarding the two events we currently have on sale, we can confirm the following:
The ‘Seek and Destroy’ Event being headlined by
Daniel Dubois v Joe Joyce on April 11 at the O2 Arena has now been rescheduled to Saturday July 11, still at the O2 Arena. Tickets will remain valid for the new date however, people who cannot attend the new date can obtain a refund from their original point of purchase.
World Champion
Josh Taylor’s homecoming, scheduled for May 2 at the SSE Hydro in Glasgow will no longer take place on this date. Refunds are available from the point of purchase. We are currently working with the SSE Hydro, Top Rank and MTK Global to identify a suitable alternative date to reschedule the event for the Scottish fans.
Queensberry Promotions and Top Rank have already reached agreement for
Carl Frampton to challenge Jamel Herring for the WBO World Super-Featherweight Championship in Belfast in June. This event was due to be announced this week. At this moment in time, we are still hopeful of being able to stage this event in June, however, we will monitor the ever-changing landscape surrounding the Covid-19 Pandemic. Details of the date, venue and location will be announced in due course.
