Prime Andy Ruiz Jr. beats 1963 Sonny Liston, because size matters.
Ruiz about same height as Liston. Liston's reach 84" to Ruiz's 74".

Size matters and Fat Lives Matter.

EO was whining about some of us not being specific. So I'll make a list of HWs who fought under 240 who most fans will believe (I think) could beat the bigger guys to their left. I put in bold the ones I think are elite. Vit barely made it.

I'd argue that all of these guys weighed roughly 240lbs or more, with the vast majority being 6' 4" or more:

• Anthony Joshua Ali
• Andy Ruiz Jr Billy Conn
• Charles Martin Me. No, Quarry
• Tyson Fury Foreman first career
• Wladimir Klitschko Holyfield
• Vitali Klitschko
Norton
• Lennox Lewis We may lose this one Frazier
• George Foreman Long list if 1990s GF. Jimmy Young again
• Riddick Bowe Liston

So many champions and top HW contenders of the last 100 years could beat the names below that putting in names here would be silly. I don't think Tunney would lose to Lucas Browne.

• Samuel Peter
• Oleg Maskaev
• Frank Bruno
• James Douglas
• Ruslan Chagaev
• Lucas Browne
• Nikolay Valuev
• John Ruiz
• Joseph Parker
• Shannon Briggs

EO, when almost everyone in the thread disagrees with what you’re saying, does that perhaps set off alarm bells that you might be the one who’s wrong?

EO is saying Baer, Galento, and Carnera were amongst "his most notable victories."

Try Schmeling, Walcott 2, and winning the title against Braddock. Baer is up there though. Galento isn't.

Conn is up there, EO would have appreciated the 2 KO victories over Conn if Billy had come in at an obese 240.

I have a less intellectual analogy; he's Jim Cornette rasslin manager. They challenge someone to step in the ring, then run out of the ring.

Liston was a big guy just not super tall. But according to EO he wasnt well defined.....

Ruiz is better defined if the objective is to look like a beach ball.

Liston wasn't ripped or anything, but he could easily have fought at 230 pounds without being a jiggly tits fatty like we see prolifically today. He had a big frame with freakish shoulders/arms for his height

No doubt guys have been getting naturally bigger in the division, but the weights are inflated too by the extra padding

Here's Liston and Ali's measurements from their first fight.

I wanted to see wrist and ankle sizes. Usually shows how naturally big a man is. His ankles are huge, but his wrists were smaller than Ali's. I agree that he could have fought 15/20 lbs heavier.

Here's a similar look at Lennox and Mike Tyson's measurements. Liston was a big boy.
