I'd love to see Ruiz vs Usyk.

Edit: or Povetkin versus either of those guys

I said at the time that Andy Ruiz was a better opponent that the original choice, Jarrel Miller.

If any of you guys listen to the Costello & Bunce pods, the current pod has an excerpt from an interview that Buncey did with a 22 year old Tyson Fury talking about his spar at Finchley ABC with a 20 year old amateur called....Anthony Joshua.

As Mike Costello described the interview....Gold dust :OhYes:

This where Tyson sings His praises and says he will be a world champ one day? He says they went at it hammer and tongs or at least gives you that impression.

Yes, Fury said AJ was a red hot prospect !

Fury said of the spar that he was thinking he'd take it easy with this 20 year old because he was an amateur, but apparently AJ came out bombing and tonked him.

Tyson was impressed but was quick to add sparring is sparring, not the same as a contest....a sentiment I totally agree with.

Usyk is open to entertaining a step-aside deal.

"All four belts might end up in the same hands of one person. It might be a once in a lifetime opportunity. We should all talk and communicate for that to happen because it is a really big event," Usyk told The Sun.

"I still want to fight Anthony Joshua for the title. There are many factors for this fight to happen, my team and all the participants and all their interested parties are already working on it. But there are still many people who wish to fight him as well, like Tyson Fury."

What's the best result for the sport?

I think Fury will win. I take more to Fury as a person...

...however, Fury is a boring watch (usually, the 2nd Wilder fight was good viewing and The Undertaker moment in the 1st was quite something). I think Joshua bashing him up would be the best result for boxing.

Fury simply from a boxing perspective. It would show millions that skills wins fights not muscles. The average joe watching boxing thinks the more ripped and bigger you are the harder you will be. We know that’s not the case and the better technician is a big win for boxing

Who's fleecing ya? If you don't think it's PPV worthy. Don't buy it. Nobody putting a gun to your head.

I've only bought one PPV in the last 6 years.

Well done you. The point is that Eddie's recent hegemony (give or take allegedly) over the last 5-10 years hasn't been good news for boxing fans in a number of ways. Overpriced PPVs, uncompetitive matches, dire undercards, sweet caroline etc. And he's used AJ to power this over the last 5 years. They're a pair of soulless, corporate stooges and I won't be sorry when the golden goose hangs his gloves up. I don't even think he's much more entertaining to watch fight than Fury.

In general he's been more entertaining. Fury has been more entertaining of late though.

Fury win would be better for boxing. Fury is no less entertaining than Joshua in the ring and far more entertaining outside of it, which is also important, because the buildup for the fights is obviously longer than fights themselves. Fury's fights against Wilder X2, Wallin were as entertaining as Joshua's ones against Klitschko, Povetkin, Ruiz #1. And what other Joshua fights were as much entertaining? Pulev, Ruiz #2, Parker, Takam, Breazeale, Molina definitely weren't. It's entertaining when the fighters are matched equally, which is a rare case today in general. Joshua-Ruiz #1 is an exception here though, Joshua's mistakes made it entertaining.

I want Tyson to retire after beating AJ. What better way than to sit back with £100M, lovely family and just say “I’m just a big gypo, you were all right when you said I was useless”.

I think John will push for that too. If he beats AJ then there’s not really anyone that people would be desperate to see him in with.

No way. The fights against the comers like Joyce and Hrgovic sound interesting.

But its been good for the boxers right? - Higher purses. I don't think anyone can begrudge a fighter getting paid well other than a Hearn hater.

Boxing to the masses is fine - We need the casual audience to generate the audience that keeps boxing near the front of sports coverage.

That's what I hope happens for Tyson's sake. I'm split really as I like the guy a lot and, as a boxing person, I appreciate what he does and how he does it but I'll never forget watching the Klitschko fight in a public place and hearing the constant boos and slating of the fight. Similarly, so many of his other fights have been a dire watch for the casual observer of the sport. These people help keep the sport going.

We need a heavyweight champion who takes people's heads off, gets involved in tear ups and generally scares the shyte out of people. A huge, overweight, nice guy with amazing skills, massive heart and will to win would be enough if he were explosive. That he's not makes Joshua the better flag bearer, for me. Not that I think Joshua is the ideal, just the best of what's out there at the moment.

I had a dream about this fight last night - Fury stopped Joshua late with an uppercut after a furious exchange of blows in centre ring.

My boxing dreams are wrong 99% of the time, but I’ll still put some money on that happening, just in case.
